I stopped here on September 14,2024 around 4:45pm. I ordered a Caramel shake. The service was good. The bad part was as I drank the shake I was getting pieces of coconut in my drink. That tells me that the machines are not getting cleaned between customers. read more

As far as Dairy Queens go, this one seems on the upswing. We have been to this Dairy Queen a number of times (usually 2 star stuff and we did not review in the past) but tonight we think it must have changed hands. Someone has spent a little money updating the outside...the signage is new both on the building and on the street...the building has been painted outside to freshen it up. This is still an older Dairy Queen - no inside seating - but it is starting to perk up a bit. Ordered the usual and the ice cream was good as usual. Service was nice also...a young lady and her son/brother. They were very nice and businesslike...kept the floor inside very clean and served us up with out a problem. Compared to the past this place is on the improve, and we think everyone should give this place one more try. read more

PROS: It is Dairy Queen. (Duh) CONS: This location desperately needs trees for shade of or picnic benches with umbrellas!! It would soften the look of the space, and more people would likely come. People have to hide on the side of the building, and even there no seats are provided. If bees and flies are the reason why no seating is provided, then simply hose down the areas every night or spray for unwanted insects. read more

I've tried to love the local Dairy Queen. When I moved here 10 years ago I surprised to find out they didn't carry chocolate ice cream. Finally, when the Cubs won the World Series the owner stopped holding chocolate hostage. Previous years I haven't had an issue but so far this year, 2020, I've tried to go and support the business about 15 times only to hear that they were out, only carry chocolate mon-thurs, it wasn't working, or that it didn't come in. I still, time over time, gave them another shot. Today I felt lucky. It's a Tuesday, that's close to Monday, the must be fully stocked on chocolate. I pulled through, ordered my blizzard, ordered chocolate with Reese Pieces, rejoicing at the delicious future ahead of me. Unfortunately they made it with the wrong candy. No problem, turn around, go back, people make mistakes. I pull up, naturally apologize because maybe they misheard me or I misspoke (shaking my head no). They happily remake it and pass it through the plexi window. The kids there couldn't be nicer. I look down. Vanilla. Flipping vanilla. I gently say, oh I'm so sorry, this was chocolate. He responded that he knew that but they were out. Never again Dairy Queen. Never again. It's almost tempting enough to try to open a competing Dairy Queen in town that offers the whole menu, on the same day, every day. To the owner I say, try harder, not for me, I'll be at cool creations, but for the people that still go there. No hard feelings just no more of me pretending you're a better business than you are. read more

Four stars alone for Orange Julius and their great customer service. I've never received a wrong order or item off their menu that was sub par. My only complaint is that they're not open year round. I realize they are independently owned and operated as part of the franchise, but with local ice cream shops like Baskin Robbins and Cold Stone open year round (and always busy), the need for competition in the market is there. What could you possibly have ordered that was too large to be passed through the window of a walk/drive-up only establishment? Comical. Since you called out the authenticity of my review, I feel compelled to advise you I drive an F250. My truck sits so high I could tell you the color of the toenail polish the girls were wearing...as well as how grimy the floor is. Shame on me for wasting hard-earned money, because against my better judgement we visited this DQ again tonite. I'll give them consistency, because nothing has changed. New staff as of March, aesthetically upgraded on the outside. The prices are high here, for example, 2 dip cones, 2 sundaes, cost over $15, for SOFT SERVE!! McDonald's across the street will set you back $6 for the same order as above and taste about the same. Plus McDonald's is a lot faster. Oberweis prices, McDonald's taste. I like ice cream a lot, and for the most part you can never go wrong with Dairy Queen, well I think I found an exception, I stopped in Wed night, I just wanted a small cone, What I got was a kind of chilled goop, that was running down the side of the cone even as he handed it to me, keep in mind it was a chilly night, I could have understood if it was 95 degrees out, but it was a cool night, I got more down my arm than in my mouth, at least the birds will have something to eat tomorrow. read more

I've lived in Lockport for more than 18 years and have been to this Dairy Queen on multiple occasions. It has been in business in Lockport for many, many years and is a local institution. Yes, It is a small store with a walk up window and a drive thru and there is no seating inside, but unlike the previous reviewers (one of whom I've heard works for a competitor here in town), I've found the ice cream and service to be consistently good. They offer a wide selection of ice cream products and although there are no burgers and fries, in the Summer they have hot dogs and chili dogs. The Blizzards are particularly good, and just like in the commercial, the Blizzards are so thick that one can turn them upside down and they won't come out of the cup! The staff is well trained, polite and knowledgeable and the employees are especially patient with young children, who often have difficulty deciding which treat to get. I once had to go inside to get several larger items and found the inside to be meticulously clean. As far as I can recall, I've never seen an employee out of uniform, but what does that have to do with customer service and food quality anyway? As for flip flops, the height of the walk up window and small interior make it impossible to view footwear, so I think that reviewer is exaggerating. In sum, if you're looking for a fast, cool refreshing treat with friendly service at a reasonable price on a hot Summer night, there is no better place than the Lockport Dairy Queen. read more

Just brought my son there after school. There was a woman with several kids at the walk up window. 2 cars ahead of me in the drivethru. After about 5 minutes the car ahead of me drove away and I pulled up behind the first car which was just now getting served. They left and I drove up to window where I again had to wait to place my order since the drive thru speaker does not work.After a couple minutes the lady working there whom I believe is the owner took our order. I asked her why she was there alone. She said she had to wait for the kids to get out of school. Why can't we hire someone that does not go to high school so that we can give good and fast service during the day? I hate waiting forever to be served. This business limits itself by not having proper staffing. Just because she has to be there all day does not mean that customers want to be there all day waiting to be served. Very disappointing. Yes the place looks better now but service is still sssslllllllllloooooooooowwwwww. read more

WOW, some people can be harsh. Wife and I are senors and visit about once a week. Usually the servers recognize us and remember out custom order, Always friendly and attentive, I have been in this kind of bussiness years ago and am quite aware of the local inspectors. I really thought the service was as quick as can be. Those kids moved and tried to work very fast. The Blizzard was very good and they even served it upside down. I did have a complaint and I talked to the older lady working about the speaker. She said that they dont have a set up system because they like to talk to the customers directly.
