A Joliet Staple: if you live here or are just passing through you simply have to eat at Ace! Best french fries anywhere and awesome burgers, lemonade, and root beer around. Fun drive in vibes with picnic tables. 10 out of 10. read more

Way too expensive for what you get. The root beer is good, but the sandwiches are small and expensive

Had this back in the summer....and just love places like this! This place has been around for a long time....because it's awesome!

Cash only so, bring your money with you. The root beer is fabulous. Hotdogs are great as well.

Been coming here most of my adult life. Love this place. Best root beer around. Love their pork tenderloin and hoagie and fries. They call their Italian beef, poor boys, which is confusing. They do put a picture of it on the side of the building. Also like their beef BBQ. Wish we had more places like this. I remember going to Silver Frost drive in and Dog N Suds as a small girl with car hops. Love this way of dinning. It has gotten pretty pricey and they have decreased the amount of fries in an order. I'll still keep going there and support this family run business .Hope you do too! read more

First time coming here. I saw this place once in my life and never came here. I actually came here on car night of all things! The food here is cheap but it tastes oh so good. I dined outside and the staff were really accommodating. Parking can be really tight too and it could be a pain in the butt coming here on car night or accessing Route 30 going South West. Plenty of things in the area, this place reminded me of the Dukes Drive-in in Bridgeview. Family ran too, I want this place to stay in business. Definitely check it out! read more

Very disappointed in the food and rootbeer. Service was good. The chili burger was horrible...and rootbeer watered down flavor. Hotdogs below average. Fries and onion rings just okay. Sad. read more

Best Frosty mug root beer!! Better go there today because they'll be closing in September sometime read more

Make sure to order the root beer!! So good. We like this place because of the old school touch. The waitresses bring your food to your car and they are always so nice. Portions are small so we typically go for a quick lunch. read more

Ace Drive-In - a glass of beer and a plate of food - Fast Food Near Me - Joliet, Illinois

Great place for a frost mug of root beer and a freshly made BBQ or burger...staff always attentive and cheerful...dinning "out" at its best!

Been going here since I was a kid. I am 45. Great food and better Rootbeer amazing place highly recommend

This place is great for the nostalgia factor alone, but their food is good too. Burgers are serviceable, good chicken sandwich, and they make a mean root beer float -- creamy and delicious, mm mmm. Makes me wish it was summer. Oh wait, it is. No time to lose, then: Ace is only open during the warmer months (so the carhops don't turn into carhop-sicles in the IL winters), so get while the gettin's good. For a better-than-fast-food burger meal with a turn-back-the-clock feel, Ace is definitely the place. read more

This place is all about nostalgia! There are very few drive ins anymore. This place brings back memories of a drive in I went to as a kid. Burgers, hot dogs, fries, a drink. Oh yeah. I remember the root beer from when I was a kid. This place has killer root beer evoking all the memories from the past. Except for one thing. Why am I such a big boy now? How did I get in the front seat? When did I start driving? What happened to my hair? zzzzzzzz. Oh yeah Im an adult now. Damn! That was a nice trip down memory lane. This (ACE) place sure brings you there! Not uncommon to see hot rods & fine rides on a warm summer night here. They have gr8 root beer, good burgers, dogs, & fries. All while sitting in ur car. Great car hops. The girls are so friendly and do a fine job of delivering your meals. Don't wanna sit in ur car? Sit at the picnic tables, kinda like when ur in the park and watch traffic go by on RT 30. Yes theres a bit of grease in the food but so what? When you want carefree and thoughts of the past, this place brings it. Customers always seem unhurried here. A good place to relax. One of my favorite places to go. read more

As much as I don't want to admit it, I wasn't too impressed with this place. I mean sure, its got nostalgic charm with the young girls bringing you the food to you while you're in the car but, I would of felt more comfortable walking 15-20 steps each way to get my own food then have someone else do that for me, but that's just me. Not to mention I wouldn't feel guilty to tip. I hope I don't sound too grouchy saying that. Got a double cheeseburger ($3.80) with fries ($1.50) which were just o.k.. The burger didn't taste any different from the one you grilled in your backyard. But, for the price, not too bad. They're supposedly known for making their own root beer so I got a half gallon ($4.50) of it, which came in a milk container. I was surprised how muted the flavor was. Since they supposedly make it there, I was expecting it to taste better than the ones from the store but, it tasted like I was drinking A&W instead. Their cash only policy didn't help either. In a nut shell, I was surprisingly disappointed but, I give them an OK rating since there prices were reasonable. read more

Ace Drive-In - a diner at night - Fast Food Near Me - Joliet, Illinois

Food is typical, driving food and very good. They could've done a very good job reasonably priced better than the surrounding area who robbed you for $15 for a roast beef very reasonable. Service is fantastic. The car hops are great no matter what day of the week I'll be back over and over stop and enjoy the ambience and the service can't go do yourself a favor take young and old and carry on the tradition. Keep it open. read more

Ace's DriveIn is like going back in time to when i was a kid and most food places were Mom & Pop operations not corporation owned bland food mills! The staff was friendly. The food was great. And the Black Cows (Rootbeer Float) was perfect! read more

This local gem has been here longer than I have been alive and there a huge reason, it is amazing. Although they call their "Poorboy" a "Hoagie" it is still AMAZING! We make sure, no matter what, we come at least once a year during their open-season. Today was that day; and like always, it was totally delicious. They have the best root beer and you can also buy it by the gallon if you wanna take some home. read more

The root beer is really good. It is homemade. It's a cool little summer place to go to if you are in town. The burger are just there not much to explain about them nothing fancy. read more

Been coming here for years and stopped in for lunch yesterday. Some things to note: -They ONLY take cash -You can eat outside or in your car -Always ask what comes on your food or what your options are We were a group of 3 and the waitress asked if we wanted separate checks so we said yes. We all ordered, food came out pretty quick. The server brought a small AND a large root beer for my friend. When my friend said she only ordered the large, the waitress was very confused. Why would anyone order that way? She said she would take it back but wasn't happy about it. We paid and the same friend was waiting for her change as she paid with a $20. The waitress said she did not remember her paying with a $20, she paid with a $10. The waitress went back to the kitchen and asked if anyone else knew what the change was supposed to be which they didn't. So then she returned to our table and told my friend "No one remembers you paying with a $20 but here's your change". The whole ordeal was sloppy and unprofessional-if you can't remember things then write them down. Food was good, burgers come with the basics but if you ask for extras such as lettuce and tomato they can add it. I didn't check to see if they charged for it. Fries are basic, nothing special. Root beer is always good and delicious! My friend got a Brown Cow and she liked it a lot. I know I will be back because it's a local staple and it's nice to eat outside once in awhile, I just hope their servers are better trained on professionalism. read more

I wasn't blown away with the value and quality. Super friendly staff and perhaps the beef bbq that Chicago's Best TV featured isn't the best thing on their menu. But with a tip it's hard to shell out $10 for a small beef bbq sandwich and a tiny root beer float. Cool they have a Cruise Night starting June 2nd every Thursday 6:30 - 9 pm. Perhaps I'll try something else and check out some cars on another visit. read more

I've been going to Ace for as long as I can remember. Yesterday we stopped there with our kids. We ate in our car~ the tables were full. Waitress/carhop came right over & we ordered. We waited a long time for our food, but that was ok. The crappy part of our experience was that our waitress/carhop never came back. We waited & waited. She glanced over a few times when she was close by but never walked over. We finally honked~ still didn't come. So my husband & daughter finally got out & walked our trays over to the counter. We really shouldn't have had to have done that. The food was typical Ace food~ no complaints. Service was severely lacking. But you got an extra star from me for finally have a port a potty on sight! We had to leave several times before we were done eating when our kids were little. read more

This place is disgusting. I don't care what drive ins were suppose to be but if the food isn't good, the nostalgia means nothing and that is the big problem with this place. Root beer tastes like its been watered down. The burger is nothing special. I could go to sonic and get the same type of burger. The fries are an extreme ripoff. You get like 20 fries and they aren't ever really cooked all the way. If you wanted to go up and order yourself so you do not feel obligated to tip, think again. They won't let you do that there. If you don't eat the food there and just go look at it then this place might be right up your alley. If you want to eat their food, well then I'm sorry. read more

Great place to go in the summer! Love this place so much. This place is in a good spot for sure. Love the food here! The fries are my favorite. I love to have the lemonade. I heard the root beer is good too, and it's home made. The service is fast and friendly! You can count on them. Fun place to go to, you can sit outside and eat or just order in your car and eat there. Love the vibes of this place. They make things easy. And it's dog friendly! read more

Love this place! Love the lemonade and poor boys. Would reccomend if ever in the area

Great service! Very clean drive in. So nice to go to a locally owned Drive-In, those are hard to come by anymore. We will be back!

We love this place and are so happy it is oen for the season. A sure sign that summer is here. The servers are always friendly and its so chaming to be waited on in your car. The food is greasy and not for the health conscious, but it can be a lot of fun once in a while. read more

The original Drive-in. But it's actually a car hop. The girls come to your car or there are picnic benches right next to the street. I sat at table 2 that was closest to the parking lot. The food came pretty quick but my root beer was all over the tray. But it was in a frosted mug. What was left of it. And the beef poor boy that I had. Umm, are you kidding me? It was an italian beef on a toasted bun. And the prices are way over the top for what little food you get. The fries were pretty good. But again. For $8.70 and the tip you have to give them. It is NOT worth it. read more

Went there for the first time the other night. We were surprise on how well priced and good the food was. Only down side was you don't get any of the "extras" on your burger. We were at least expecting lettuce and tomato. Next time I guess we'll ask what everything entails. read more

The root beer is fantastic, the food is decent. Not too expensive and fun place to go. The onion rings are good, but the burgers remind me of high school cafeteria food..... read more

I really like this place. The food quality is good and the root bear is amazing. It's nice to eat on a picnic bench every now and than, too.

Ace is awesome. The food is always good and the car hops and managers are so friendly. My favorite things are the double cheeseburgers, homemade bbq on French bread, and the chili cheese dog with homemade chili. Yum! They also have cruise night on Thursday with old cars, dj, and raffles. Plus dog friendly! read more

Fries and O rings are the best. Not nearly as salty or greasy as Joes Hot Dogs down the street. Eat in your car or at the picnic tables. In Joliet, you look forward to Ace Drive-In in the summer and Dan's caramel apples in the fall. Other than the occasional highlight at the Rialto Theater or high crime drama at the Will County Courthouse, that's about it. read more

Today I went to ace drive in root beer and sandwiches and I got chicest tenders. I thought it would be like portillos but my chicken tenders were sub par. They fries were just ok. Overall I would just say it was alright. I would maybe come back and try a hot dog. The prices are a little on the high scale for what you get. Other than that it's alright. read more

Love this place! A Joliet favorite that I would recommend to anyone! Great food and wonderful, polite staff. This will remain one of my go to places on a nice summer day for a poor boy and an ice cold rootbeer! read more

This place is a classic! Its not summer without Ace Drive-in. the service is fun and friendly and the food is tasty!

It's a fun place as far as the throw back, eat in your car/tray on your window. Food is ok. Small portions for the price. Some of the carhops are nice, some seem like they would rather not be there. Go check it out just for the nostalgia, but that's about it. read more

Good food poor customer service. Ordered food to take home found order of fries missing.. Went back several days later Carhop said there was nothing they would do. Bad treatment of a regular customer. Hadn't been back. read more

Solid solid solid place to get a quick meal. Just pull up grab one a variety of things. My favorite being the bbq beef on French bread. All while relaxing in your car. Then a girl brings your food to your window and your have he choice to eat it there or drive off and eat it home. The only reason it didn't get five stars is because it's closed five months out of the year. read more

If you ever are near here, stop in for the Root beer. It's the best in town. It's not on the menu but i always order a gallon to go. Drink it up fast though, it will go flat by the second day. Gotta love the old fashioned car hops, and the trays they place on the car doors, reminds me of childhood read more

Just went here, you know nice fathers day lunch with the wife and kids, Let me just start with this, There poor boy sandwich is really a Italian beef sandwich on a toasted bun, when asked the waitress about it her reply is "Oh, Well that's what we call it" Don't order a Double Steak Burger, you get a poorly well made Double hamburger. Chicken Tenders... MMMMMm so good, But not at this place... you get 3 tenders and there small and dry. I will say the Onion Rings were good. Over cooked but good. The Black Cows were excellent, but for a total price of $43.08.. We should of went some where else. Anyway i am rating this place 1 star, and that's only cause they don't have a half star rating. read more
