After moving back to Chicago, Mickey's had all the offerings that I was craving post arrival. And you may or may not fully understand, but I can't tell you how long I had been craving a pizza puff. IYKYK. I was super happy to see Mickey's offers an array of Chicago food staples and that made the decision to order easy. I got delivery and I have to say I wasn't expecting the fries or pizza puff to still be crispy, but somehow they were. Mickey's did a great job of packaging my items and following my preferences. I also ordered a gyro and it was delicious! A large portion of meat stuffed into a fresh pita, enough I made two meals out of. Gyros is a dish that, if prepared properly, is one of the most flavorful meals available at a reasonable cost. And, of late, since Maxwell Street closed, I have been on the lookout for a good Gyros. So, my wife and I tried Mickey's. My wife ordered some Chicken Fingers that she enjoyed. I ordered a Gyros and honestly, it sucked. Might've been the worst I've ever had. I gave this restaurant 2 stars because it was clean and the order taker was friendly and polite. First, the shaved Gyros meat MUST be placed in the buttered grill to get those slight crispy edges which brings out the complexity of the flavors and adds a little moisture. But not mine. Instead, they simply shaved the meat from slab and dumped it on the dry pita with a little smear of sauce. BORING! This Gyros had absolutely no flavor at all. It was dry, tasteless and not worth the money I paid. So, my quest to find a good Gyros continues. read more

Just ordered 2 beef sandwiches and although they where delicious they gave only one small cup of oju. It wasn't enough for 2 sandwiches. Bread was a bit dry because of that. I like a wet Italian beef sandwich. Next time will ask to provide enough oju. read more

Well, 4 years later and it's still a one star!! We were craving some fast food so took a chance on Mickeys cuz it's been years. The fries were old and new mixed together. Burnt disgusting and absolutely tasteless. The cookie they sell for $1.50 was hard as a brick. I just broke it in a piece for a pic. Threw it right out. Complete garbage. The hot dogs were a joke. I used to go here all the time, but the outrageous prices they have now keep me away. Food isn't worth the price. $5.50 for a hot dog and fry, $8.30 for 2 dogs and a fry??? gimme a break!!! Go down the street to the new Joey's red hots, hot dog and fry $2.75, or even better 5 dogs and a fry for $8.25, yes I said 5. I realize the cost on everything is going up these days, but paying close to $10 bucks after tax for a couple of hot dogs is unreal. It's a shame, Mickeys used to me my go to spot. read more

Good fast food and no it's not an oxymoron! I had the 3 hotdog and fry option with fried mushrooms (a trucker's dream!)... I gave up after one dog and some fries and like 4 mushrooms (ranch sauce sucked though, lighten up on the cheap mayo). Too much for this diet guy gone crazy! The dog was tasty, but no hot peppers on an everything dog? The mushrooms looked as though they were made in old grease, I like them golden brown like a hot chick's skin on summer break. I'm not gonna down the place for the fried mushrooms, for now. The fries are you basic, run of the mill crinkle cut fries and cooked in clean oil it looked to me. Yes I had to brave the cold to walk off the fat and sodium to a level that wouldn't put me in a mid-workday coma. Overall? I will go back but I like Mr. Submarine better. read more

The wife and I went to this place a couple of days ago. I used to go to this place a lot a while ago as it always was very good. Last couple of times we were not impressed so we rarely go. However we felt like some Italian beef sandwiches and decided to go here as it is only a couple of minutes away. Ordered the beef sandwiches with hot peppers and onion rings. I have never been so disgusted eating food in my life. I am not sure how they can put meat that you cannot chew on bread and actually call it food. It is rare that I just throw away food but this was one time. I have gotten gyros here before and they are not very good either. Chunks of hard shit doesn't work with me very well. So anyways after spending 20 dollar for our food and being extremely disgusted we won't ever go back again. It is disappointing because it is family owned and so close to home but I refuse to support mom and pop businesses if you cannot produce actual good tasting food. Either learn how to properly cook food or get higher quality ingredients. I guess the hot dogs aren't bad but you can get good tasting hot dogs anywhere. Not very difficult to make hot dogs. If you want good tasting food either go to Windy City grill in romoeoville or Clem's on rt 30. Haven't been to Tony's yet but hear they aren't too bad. read more

Mmmm Mickey's. You can smell the fried goodness driving by. There is plenty of seating inside and a drive through as well, though the drive though is a little slow. As a mom and pop place, the service can be a little slow. It is worth it. The food is always good and the salads are fresh. In fact I buy the house salads with garlic dressing quite often at about 2 bucks a pop. The portions for everything are very generous. Fries fill up half the bag and the fried dinners are enough for 3. They have a decent variety of menu items and they offer much of it for catering. This place is a bit of a must have in the area. Has to be one of the best fast food places of all time! Family owned and the food is better when mom and dad are there(sorry to kids, but its the truth!) Dad is Greek(so is my husband--well, DH is 1/2 Greek) and they start talking and the rest is history. the broiled chicken on pita is very good as is the BBQ chicken dinner. Of course the gyros are good, although I only get the Jr.--believe me, its enough to feed an army!. For our wedding, Mickey's catered our rehearsal dinner--we had a picnic in the park for the rehearsal dinner(formal the next night, so why not?). Everyone raved about the food and the prices did not break us! This was in 2001, but just for the record, they do cater. Since we're knee-deep in the 2nd phase of the Obama Recession, "fair" is the new "great" as far as fast food is concerned. Fast food restaurants have struggled to keep prices low while keeping quality and sales up. Mickey's food is consistently good. And, providing food that's merely good (not great, not awesome) makes a restaurant head & shoulders above most other restaurants in the area. My suggestions.... order one pound of gyro meat and six pitas. They'll include the sauce. It'll cost $10-$12 but feeds three grown men. My wife likes the ribeye steak sandwich and I do, too. The place looks quite clean. The staff is friendly. Family owned. SUPPORT LOCAL FAMILY-OWNED BUSINESSES which, I'm certain, will go extinct once we get a little deeper in the Obama Recession. I like the fact that you can order a bunch of things and they don't need to write your order down. The guy taking your order remembers everything, just the way you order it, and relays it to the cooks. And, strangely, I've NEVER had an incorrect order. NEVER. They must only hire savants to work there. I also like the fact that the local police lunch there. I've noticed that ghetto scumbags tend to keep their mouths shut and be a little less obnoxious in an establishment when the local police are visiting. read more

Normally this is a great local spot during lunchtime on weekdays, but the weekend service near dinnertime my last few visits weren't that great. Always loved the pork chop dinner at Mickeys but this last time it was like eating shoe leather,I could hardly cut it with a serrated knife.what have you changed? Everything on the menu is great !!!!!! Staff is friendly even when they are extremely busy. Never seen the place dirty no matter what time you go in. If you like ribs this is the place they fall right off the bone never burnt or dry just perfect. read more
