BURGERMEISTER If you…read morehaven't been introduced to the joy that is a Culver's bacon deluxe, now is the time. All good people of the Midwest should know about this wholesome chain of blue-and-white striped burger joints. This Culver's in Romeoville is right off of Weber Rd, one mile south of I-55. A quick Yelp search reveals this is the 7th Culver's for which I've penned a review, in case you wanted proof of my unwavering fandom. Whether you're ordering a single ($9) or double Butterburger (or a tasty pork tenderloin sandwich), a value basket is the way to go. It includes fries + a drink, and let's be honest, you're going to want 16oz of their signature root beer. I like to swap out the crinkle cut fries for mashed potatoes w/gravy, and sometimes I'll throw in an order of cheese curds ($5). Pro tip: fill out the survey on your receipt, and you can get a free single scoop of custard on your next visit. I always go with the daily flavor 'du jour', having tried espresso toffee bar, salted caramel pecan, mint explosion, caramel cashew, Oreo overload, and a few others. Vanilla frozen custard seems to be the default, but don't sleep on the chocolate--it's awesome. For a chain that's typically lauded for being so darn pleasant, I haven't gotten quite the same level of friendly vibes here as I have at other Culver's. They've been cool in the drive-thru, although on occasion they'll forget to tell me the order total or say thanks. Last visit, the flavor-of-the-day sign out front was blank, so I had no idea what they were scooping until I went inside. Ahhhh Culver's, you're slipping! * TL;DR * Make no mistake, an average (okay, better-than-average) Culver's still tops most other burger places on their best day. I'll admit that I've come to expect universal greatness from this brand, so anything less than 5* feels surprising. To me, a dip in customer service isn't as big a deal as an empty flavor-of-the-day sign. How do I know I'm not setting myself up for disappointment? What if the rotating custard flavor was salt & vinegar, or murky pond water?? I'd be headed over to Freddy's. It's tough to compete with the rockstars at the Culver's in Franklin Park, but they're trying hard enough here to get my return business.

I'm not as into subs as I am other sandwich types, like Chicago-style Italian Beefs (Teddy's,…read moreMaxwell's, or Cozzi Corner) or deli (Schmaltz's), but among the 3 sub places I do hit regularly, Potbelly is my favorite. Mojo's East Coast and Jersey Mike's both have their strong points too, don't get me wrong, but I feel that Potbelly offers the best quality for the buck, and is always consistent. Being the closest to home makes it a no-brainer when choosing where to go on days when I do decide to go out for a sub (the other 2 snag me only when I happen to be near them). Super-friendly service (and sometimes a free cookie to boot).

It's a shame because both sandwiches had good flavor just not enough of it. This the very reason why people aren't eating out anymore.

This used to be a regular Sushi joint for me, then it became Wayback and years of driving past it…read more I had read a review that put it in the top ten of fast-food burgers. That was the sound of a gauntlet being thrown down, so we had to go. Truth was spoken! Delicious, well-seasoned burgers that tasted like good beef. Great Fries, the wife said, and she should know-she's a potato aficionado. I had "tater tots" that were tot-licious. Neither Wife nor I like these new-age burgers that remind me of the outrageous Bloody Marys you get in Vegas with myriad toppings that make EATING the damn burger an adventure in balance and trying not to foul the clothes you are wearing. We ordered ours with de rigueur toppings (Lettuce, tomatoe, onions, mustard & Ketchup. Wife gets the foliage plus Mayo). They hit the spot!! But there was talk of some special sauces, and we got some on the side to dip our fries (and tots) in. All were great, especially the Wayback sauce. Good throw in the Coke bubbler. The place looks a little dark from 75th Street, but don't let that spook you. Stop in and have a great feed!

I wish they would store that in the customer profile as I pretty much get this by default and not "Mikes Way", no offense. (Suggestion to Corporate). The sandwich was fantastic. I am happy that the consistency between stores is very good, there has been no noticeable shrinkflation after the sale of the parent company. No cheapening of the product. The store was clean And staff was presentable and kind with good manners. I will definitely be back to this location as I visit friends/family in the area. The sandwich is on the upper bandwidth price wise. However fairly priced as you do get a quality product, Good clean environment to sit down and eat when needed. And good customer attention. WP
