And it turned out to be a terrific little spot in Vandalia. It's funny because it has been around since 1964, meaning that it's almost as old as we are. We grew up in the general area and we had never heard of it, let alone tried it. The decor was simple with a decent number of seats. It was set up to order from the counter. The gentleman serving us was friendly and quite pleasant. The ice cream flavors were limited, but that was fine for our granddaughter, who had a vanilla-chocolate twist in a cup with a cone "hat". My wife and I split a Banana Pudding Cyclone, which was like a Flurry. It was terrifically flavorful. We were pretty happy with our experience. It reminded us of the type of place we would have gone as kids. With tasty treats and good service, it is a place worthy of a return visit.

My wife had the chicken soup and vegetable fried rice, which she loved. She said it was really flavorful and soothing Overall, the restaurant was great. This attitude definitely carrys over to the rest of the employees and they are not customer service oriented at all. In fact I drive to the location on Harshman just to avoid the Taylorsville Rd UDF because of this. I went in and asked to purchase a big bag of ice. There were about 6 employees working all of whom acted like it was too much trouble to try to assist because they would have to move every cart in the freezer to get one. With so many employees I was wondering why the large bags of ice were not put into place to begin with. So after purchasing 2 small bags and going to the freezer it was quite obvious to me that I could have easily gotten to a big bag of ice had only just 1 employee taken the time to walk back there with me to look. Highly disappointed in this location. Definitely needs new management with customer service skills so that the employees do not adapt to this type of attitude and laziness. I would NOT recommend this location if it can be avoided. This has been a problem on most occasions and this location is right around the corner from where I live. NOT Acceptable to treat customers in this manner.
