We stopped by on a warm Sunday afternoon and was happy to see that there is a small lot associated with the spot! There was a line stretching outside of Dairy Deluxe and it moved slower than I expected. However, we didn't have to wait long before I got my small mango ice cream on a waffle cone and my boyfriend got a small butter pecan ice cream on a waffle cone. Together, it was approximately $11, which seemed reasonable. I thought that my mango ice cream was slightly bland and only had a very faint mango flavor. Chocolate is on POINT! Chocolate peanut butter WOWWWW, Coffee! Rum Raisin! Blueberry!!!! They obviously let you mix it up, if it fits in the cup they will sell it to you. Really good ice cream place located on route 27. They only accept cash. They have a variety of flavors and they all taste good so you really can't go wrong with them. They're also kosher! The lines are really long during the summer nights, but that just shows how good the ice cream tastes! I usually go for the brownie delight! They did not change gloves after cleaning some equipment in the shop once they came to take our order. I am pretty sure the gloves would not have been changed when he went to fill our order. Suffice it to say we did not continue with our order. God knows how many times this has happened. When dealing with food especially in this pandemic some more care should take place. I've had this place bookmarked for a while, so I was pretty stoked to try the goodies here. Everyone talks about the banana ice cream, which was what I was going to order, but I went with the chocolate-covered banana instead. A couple of family members ordered a shake and a chocolate/vanilla soft serve twister. The latter was said to be creamy and perfect with regards to sweetness. The chocolate-covered banana was pretty normal, and did not look like the one I saw on Yelp. It's just a whole frozen banana on a stick with the tip chopped off (LOL), then dipped in chocolate. It wasn't too sweet, which was great, but it also tasted a bit sour. I have no clue why, but I didn't think too much into it. If you order this, give it a minute or two to soften a bit. It's wrapped in a plastic baggie when you first get it. I'm only giving a 3/5 for now, but I'll be back to see what the hype is all about when it comes to the banana-flavored ice cream next time. Pretty decent small ice cream place in highland park. I have been satisfied with all the ice cream I have tried here and I have tried a lot because I usually come with a lot of friends so I can try more flavors and kinds of ice cream at one time. My favorite so far is still vanilla soft serve with pineapple. Their soft serve is super creamy! I also like chocolate dipped coconut hard serve ice cream. Just got back from Dairy Deluxe and I can't wait till I go again! $3.25 for a small vanilla soft serve with whip cream and cherry topping. Their soft serve is one of the best I've had- substantial and creamy. Additionally they use real whipping cream instead of Reddi Whip. Prices are very reasonable- kiddie sizes start around $2.50 and the most expensive item is about $5 for a deluxe sundae. They sell soft serve, hard ice cream, ices, shakes, and slushes. Cash only. There is a small parking lot on one side of the building. On the other side is a cute little brick patio area with two picnic tables and a bench that is fenced off from Raritan. Shrubbery also surrounds the fence so if you are facing the right direction and traffic's not too bad you can pretend you are somewhere else!
