So I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with tropical smoothie cafe. I was looking for something sweet, but not totally unhealthy and this place provided just that. It's a newer establishment on Easton Ave. The staff was extremely helpful and I ordered the Bahama Mama Bowl that has frozen strawberries blended at the bottom with banana's, pineapples, granola, PB, coconut flakes and I added a bit of Nutella drizzle. It was just what I was looking for. All that for 480 calories and didn't feel overly sweet. Their menu had a few other items that were equally healthy and looked tasty all in one. I'll definitely be back to try other menu items. They also serve breakfast.

Baja chicken wrap, Avocolada smoothie, baked lays.

This café is exceptionally clean, and the food is absolutely delicious. The staff is friendly and very helpful. Hagan, in particular, has been very accommodating and has recommended various food items and smoothies, all of which we loved. We highly recommend this café!

She engaged in conversation with me, as I am not from Jersey and helped me with the menu clarity. There is no parking lot here, but alot of street parking. Inside is very clean with a gender neutral bathroom and some cute decor. The prices are decent. Dessert pieces are a little pricey, but very big. They do have soo many sweet treats. They also have specialty turkish sweets and others such as cheesecake, dubai chocolate, parfaits & other things that I do not even know the name of. I wish i could try them all without getting cavities haha. When I come back to Jersey I will definitely be coming back to this cafe as it is a hot commodity to me!

I wish I had tried this muchhhh sooner-- 1st time; Tried the Iced Caramel Voltage. It was sooo good, perfectly sweet and the quality of the coffee was well roasted. 2nd time; Tried the Iced Crème Brûlée Latte. Also very delicious, they mix vanilla powder into the milk and it's so flavorful! My friend tried the hot Biscoff Latte and also absolutely loved it-- Sooo many options on the menu and sweet treats to choose from (it can get overwhelming!) My only note is that they only had one person running the shop both times I visited and there was quite some traffic for one person to handle. The other time visiting, they were mostly out of select coffees, decaf, etc by Noon and limited w milk stock.

The breakfast bowl is my order almost every time. Bacon and hashbrowns, done right, not swimming in grease. I've tried every other item in the menu and I keep coming back to it. Coffee is genuinely top notch. I drink lattes and theirs are consistent, which is harder to pull off than people think. No burnt shots, no soupy foam. Staff are friendly and mostly Rutgers students, so the faces rotate a bit, but they're always on it. Mo, the owner, is around all the time and is a great guy -- the kind of place where the owner actually knows the regulars. If you're in or around New Brunswick and want a solid breakfast and a real latte, this is the spot. Bonus if you've got a dog with you. If it's the first time with the dog, ask to have their picture taken and added to the wall - if there's any space left. Good vibes, good energy, very friendly & accommodating staff. They offer standard dishes for a cafe, both breakfast & lunch menu, treat & snacks for all, & water bowls for dogs. They give them complimentary treats & a toy that they can keep. A very friendly & comfortable environment. They have a policy about no aggressive dogs, which is good, but they also don't automatically react just because your dog barks while getting used to the environment. We had the breakfast bowl, a bacon, egg, & cheese (not pictured), & lemonade. Our puppy had Ziba's Beef Bowl. My recommendation would be get the Breakfast Bowl with no or less onions. On our way to the café, we were pleasantly surprised by a tour of Rutgers. The staff at Hidden Grounds are incredibly friendly and welcoming. They're particularly known for their chai, so my friend ordered a Rose Chai over ice, while I opted for a Hot Dirty Chai. Another friend chose the Honey Bee Latte, also over ice. The chai is amazing--it's aromatic and captures the essence of a proper chai. The Rose Chai was very good too, perfectly balanced! Overall, it's a great coffee shop with a lovely space for everyone to sit and enjoy their drinks.

What caught my eye was the New Orleans brew. The barista was helpful in explaining what it was and if anyone has ever had coffee from New Orleans you would know the chicory flavor is a game changer. I had their version of the New Orleans brew iced without the simple syrup and I was impressed. The coffee needed no sugar. It was a bold and smooth taste that blended well with the almond milk. So glad I tried it.. it will be my go to moving forward. Now they had some amazing looking cookies in there that were huge that I will be back soon for. The place is small but a decent spot for getting some work on the computer done.
