The food is incredible here and really unique to the area. The lady at the front of the house was super friendly and helpful. She was kind and very knowledgeable on the menu items. We arrived a few minutes after opening and most of the tables were full. You seat yourself, so we were lucky enough to find a booth seat. The restaurant is nicely decorated and open. Lighting is slightly dimmed, which is fine in the day, but a little dark in the late afternoon/ evening. We ordered the crab cakes, red curry noodles, pork dumplings, black bottom maple pie and a brown butter five spice donut. Out of everything we ordered the crab cakes were my least favorite. It was very one note and I didn't taste much crab flavor. Having said this, I don't think it was terrible- I'm just not big into crab cakes. The red curry noodles were fantastic. Tender hand pulled noodles in a really savory and complex red curry sauce. The chunks of pork shoulder they incorporated into the curry was great. Sometimes shredded pork has a tendency to be dry but this was not. The best part of the dish was the picked onions on top. They gave a nice bit of acid that cut through the spiciness and creaminest of the curry. The dumplings were tasty and satisfying. They were steamed and stuffed with a really meaty filing. The wrapper of the dumpling reminded me of a cross between a pierogi and a potsticker. The sauce that came on the dumplings was good- but just your ordinary sweet-soy sauce flavor wise, nothing special like the dumplings. The black bottom pie was great. There's a sweet salty combo going on that I loved. My favorite desert was the donut. It was light and airy, not greasy and filled with the most delicious floral Earl grey pastry cream. I've never had a donut like this. I would definitely recommend Daily Operation. From their social media they gave this vibe of being "too cool for school" and not giving a shit. But I really think this is just a no frills restaurant just serving good food. Their staff is fantastic (seriously, just really nice people) and their food is the best the Valley offers. We've started referring to this place as "Daily Aggravation." Allow me to explain. We moved to Easthampton during the pandemic and have ordered from Daily Operation 5 times. Each time there have been SNAFUs: Both times we ordered for delivery there were issues: once the order was over 40 minutes late, second time their POS system lost our food modifications (we asked for no mayonnaise and got lots of it anyways). 2/3 times we've ordered for pickup our food was either late (over 10 minutes both times) OR they put Mayo on burger when we asked them not to. Worst of all, early on, I realized that a simple phone call about mayo might help them correctly prepare our food: NOPE. They told me not to call about orders and treated me like I was stupid for incorrectly using their unwieldy online ordering system! I am not one to flame local businesses without giving them a chance; I called and even talked to one of the owners when my 5th order was over 40 minutes late (we have a 4 year old, we can't serve dinner 40 minutes late on a week night). The owner was arrogant, condescending and basically refused to take even a shred of responsibility for any mistake the restaurant made. No apology. Nothing. The food is actually pretty tasty (mayo notwithstanding), but there are other equally tasty options in the area so we've given up on them for now. We will likely give them another chance once in person dining opens there, but hopefully I'll be able to update this with a higher rating. read more

Nice location in Eastworks with entrance and plenty of parking in the back. We got four things off the menu (which is always changing, we hear, which is so fun!), and loved all four. Dumplings, cheesy potatoes, and two other things. All items were full of flavor and delicious. Lots of seating inside and had no problem finding a seat, but it was very busy when we left (on a Friday night) with limited seating. read more

It is so good- interesting dishes that change often and although there are some sinful items on the menu and I eat very healthily and largely vegetarian i can still find things! Order 45 min ahead at least and check to see if your items are still available on the online menu. We like to eat in the beer garden across the street. I loved Daily Op - their food is fantastic, creative, inspired. I loved Daily Op so much, my partner & I decided to get married there. I reached out to them in May '22 to inquire about hiring them as our caterer for an October '23 wedding. Dave Schrier - one of 3 owners - let me know that while they had done catering in the past, they were no longer planning to do off-site work in '23, & only host weddings in their space. While they were new to this, my partner & I were into the idea. We had an intro call with Dave in late May, & I reached back out two weeks later to confirm that we wanted to lock in the venue & date. He let me know that to make it official, we needed to come chat about details in person at the restaurant, but in the interim, our date would be held for us. Communication with Dave is intermittent at best & requires frequent follow up, but I recognized that their first priority is running a restaurant. I was planning to hire a coordinator to deal with the details, & communication can be overcome, so I was patient & accommodating. I'd suggest days/times to meet, those days would start to come & go with no response. When we finally met in early July, we came prepared with supplies to take notes & a blank check. Our planned time comes & goes, still waiting for Dave to show despite confirming that day, & he ultimately arrives over an hour late. Deflated, we pushed through & managed to get excited again. We discussed details & next steps, & asked about signing contracts or putting down a deposit. Dave assured us - no worries! No need to deal with that now, let's talk in the fall to start planning our menu, finalize cost, & get the deposit. We confirmed, as we came prepared with a blank check & we were more than ready to commit, Dave assured us it was not necessary. I reached back out to Dave at the end of Sept. - when we planned to reconnect. We wanted to plan a time for the coordinator we hired to come check out the space & give us a chance to chat in person. We went back & forth - similar to other comms, I'd send availability, it would start to lapse without a response from Dave. On Oct. 11, I finally just asked to get Dave on the phone to try to find a time that way, assuming it would be more fruitful, & we agreed on the next day. Two hours before our call, I get an email from Dave, letting me know that something had come up. No, not for the call. For the wedding. They can't host it anymore - they received a personal wedding invite for the same date as our wedding a few weeks ago. We had been planning our wedding with them for the last 5 MONTHS. Dave didn't even have the consideration to give me this news on the call we already had planned. We get on the phone regardless, & the conversation that ensues is infuriating. Dave spends the call telling me that my memory is incorrect, which is mind-boggling because everything we have in writing points to my memory still serving me well. He did mental gymnastics telling me I got it all wrong, how they "typically do this" when I received absolutely none of those details - whether in writing, or in person. Despite agreeing on this time, he still rushed me off the call because he had to go pick up his kids, which is incredibly reasonable, but I imagine it happens at the same time every day, so Dave clearly did not care about his planned conversation with me to actually hollow out time to talk. We try to figure out how to make this right with our planner, who has worked with Daily Op in the past on other weddings. Incredibly, her email to them was just completely ignored - which I guess does demonstrate how much respect they have for others in the wedding community. We wanted this so much, we decided that we could put all of this aside if they could just make it right & honor the commitment they had made. They came back to us with a laughable offer - to only rent their space - which if you recall the first sentiments of this review, the food was the reason we wanted to get married there at all. I put together a detailed response of comms we had to date, all notes we had from planning, & even gave them ANOTHER opportunity to make it right. When I finally got a response, it was thoughtless, dismissive; Dave could not muster a shred of empathy, & I can see now that this was totally evident in the way he didn't prioritize us whatsoever despite being willing to throw thousands of dollars at them & give a great deal of trust on one of the biggest days of anyone's life. They cannot even put together a thoughtful apology. So - you want a decent meal in Easthampton? I highly recommend Daily Op. You want to plan a big event like your WEDDING? This is not it. These are not the folks you want to support you in planning such a huge, meaningful event. I hope that anyone reading this makes a wiser decision than I when it comes to considering Daily Operation for their wedding. You also deserve better than they are willing to give. read more

I've been here a few times for takeout and I'm already a big fan. I love their new hip look and food approach. Usually if you say Asian fusion I'll pass but Daily Operation really knocks it out of the park. I've had the burger and it's amazing, one of the best in the area and I'm a serious burger guy. The meatloaf sandwich was a great surprise, very hearty and flavorful. I love the stoner slaw. And you must get the pork dumplings. They're huge and so tasty. The desserts are simple but on point and worth trying. I love how the menu changes weekly it keeps things fresh. The hours are limited but doable. It wasn't until we were well into the throes of COVID that I finally got around to ordering from this absolute gem of a restaurant. I'm sorry it took me so long.... The food here is so good I'm currently typing with one hand and shoveling stoner slaw into my mouth with the other. I love the Lil' Jonah crab roll; it's the perfect warm weather (or cold, who cares) lunch treat...the perfectly toasted bun is an excellent compliment to creamy, fresh crab salad. The pork dumplings with dipping sauce are also excellent. Literally, my only complaint would be $7 for 3 dumps is a little steep but once you eat one you'll know why & I promise you'll think it's worth it. read more

Interesting place. Definitely outside the box dishes. Took the ride over the mountain for takeout. the space was big and quite crowded but didn't feel crammed. I had to wait a little for my order but the staff was very attentive upon my arrival. My wife and I enjoyed the meal although the dumplings were missing the "tasty dipper sauce". Finding something for my kids to eat was a bit challenging but we always want to expand our kids' food experiences. We will be back but probably when the kids are at a sleepover. read more

The Daily Operation is the best restaurant in the Pioneer Valley. My partner and I have worked in the local food scene out here for the past decade, so we know all the best spots (Alvah Stone, Blue Heron, Gill Tavern, Bistro Le Gras). Fitting for its Easthampton location, the Daily Operation has taken a hipster approach to culinary ambitions. Everything on the menu is under $10. You could easily spend 4x as much at some of the other spots I've listed above and have a meal that's almost as good. The head chef Dave has a magic for keeping dishes streamlined yet with just enough of a twist to capture your imagination. Everything on the menu has a little flare to it, and it is regularly changing. Although there are many notable items on the menu, the Kung Pow Cauliflower comes out on top for me. It is a hallmark dish that will become a benchmark for you when you go to any other restaurant. It is creative, satisfying, and economical. I'm not sure who did it first, but I've seen it on other menus since I had it first at the Daily Op. The venue has a 1950s diner charm to it. Again, the aesthetic is simple and yet carefully considered. Frankly, getting to frequent top spots in Denver and San Francisco, the Daily Operation is the only Valley restaurant that can meet the bar set by world-class foodie spots in those other cities. It is one of those places that has managed to create food synergies that are incomprehensibly delightful. You find yourself wondering, "how could it be this good?" read more

Friends, I've enjoyed virtually everything I've ever eaten from Daily Op (well, not a fan of the stoner slaw but that's the only thing) and my order tonight exceeded all items in my past. I had "Griddled Asparagus Sandwich with Deviled Egg Spread, Ramps, Ricotta Salata, Herbal Drazzle, Pickled Onion, Arugula" and I will dream about it forever. Okay, here we go. This is one of the best spots in the valley hands down. This is the hipster spot for sure but it is legit and it is dank every time. In fact I have ordered the same things multiple times and they just end up being better and better every time. Anyway, I have so far had the oyster roll, the cheesy potatoes, the Sichuan cucumber salad, radicchio salad, the stoner slaw, the tater "dots"....the eggplant parm sandwich when it was in season (with local heirloom tomatoes, omg swoon), and the cheeseburger. Holy lord this cheeseburger. It is the best in the valley hands down. Sorry Local burger. (Not sorry.) Also I've had their mixed berry lemonade and blueberry lemonade and they were both amazing. I want to try absolutely everything on their menu. It's a good thing they have limited hours and I work evenings so I can't go here too often, or they would freaking clean me out. Everything is spicey here and not labeled as such. Everything we ordered had some semblance of spice, some a little intolerable. I would have been happy to order something else had I know that my order was going to taste like it did. Please label your food better and designate what is spicey. Edit: after this review, the owner reached out to me and offered fantastic customer service. Because of that, I have gladly changed my review to 5 stars. Daily Operation makes some of the best food in the Pioneer Valley. Their menu changes slightly from week-to-week, but you can always rely on staples on their menu like the dry aged cheeseburger (the bun and bear sauce are awesome). I try to order something different on the menu every single time I go. I'm never disappointed. I used them for two catering gigs (one for 75 people, the other for 30), and they did a great job. The head chef, David was really helpful and created a custom menu for my budget. The staff there is incredibly kind, and flexible. I really love this restaurant! read more

This place was awesome! I had the meatloaf sandwich. It had some type of teriyaki sauce on it with cilantro and onions. It all dripped over a homemade bun that was soft and tasty. My kid had a blackened fish sandwich. He ate it so fast I never had a chance to try it. He said that it was good and flavorful. Obviously. My wife had the burger which my kid also tried and he wanted to eat that as well. I guess the real lesson here is to leave the kid at home. The deserts are all house made and the lemon curd and berry desert is just delicious. . . Mine drop here.... Lack of efficient AC and little dinning area are the big draw backs for this place. The tables do turn over Quick though so by the time your food is ready hopefully a table would be open to sit. This place is not good for large crowds and the drinks are a little limited. Rude people tend to hog the tables and stay way to long for the smallness of this place. Eat,enjoy and move on. Go a few doors down and get some homemade ice cream. read more

It's hard to put into words how delicious every last bite of food was. Tonight was my first time going and I am in love! It will be hard to not spend all of my money there-- although, really, the prices are pretty dang great!! Casual dining, fun vibe, and - what the actual f***- how do they make their food taste that good??!! Highly recommend: the Bok choy app-- I don't even know that I'd eaten bok choy before this, but they did something in this seasoning that made me want to shriek because I'll never cook anything that well... the meatloaf sandwich-- cooked to perfection, dripping with some delightful sauce and cheese, and Jesus Christ did I mention a homemade DANK (I do not use this word lightly, not since 2006) sesame bun?!... the vegan irie (lol) bowl-- my friend ordered this, but I had a few bites, and the chickpeas and perfectly fluffy sticky rice were to die for. Let me finish by saying I don't care how stuffed you are (you likely will be), GET THE SALTED CARAMEL PUDDING. LIKE ASAP. GET A FEW. The homemade whipped cream was not sweet at all, just pure creamy goodness, and the salted caramel- mic drop. I'm going to dream about it tonight. Realass flakes of salt in that bad boy. My expectations were pretty high after reading all the hype and hearing from trusted foodies about the amazing food here. Happy to say they were all right. Just like Coco's you get the vibe, you realize the food is serious but not pretentious, then the food comes. Holy Sh!t What did they do to that Bok Choy? How can they make a burger better than any burger I have ever eaten? The blackened fish is f*cking amazing. Roasted potatoes, deep fried and covered with cheese is right up there with pork belly and beer on the 'proof that god loves us' food scale. Stopped in today after trying to get over for a couple weeks. I was NOT disappointed. It was the sloppiest burger I've ever eaten, but I refused to put it down. The sauce was impeccable. Hubby got the blackened fish sandwich and finished the whole thing. I was bites away from finishing my burger but I couldn't. We both sat and stared at each other afterwards, content with how full we were. The counter service was great, and for how busy it was, the food came out relatively quick.
