Daebak is a great place to hang out with friends and grab late night and drinks. They serve a variety of Korean comfort food and soju. We got the military army soup, which is just an explosion of whatever they can find (corn, spam, sausage, kimchi, mushrooms, bulgogi, onions, ramen etc) and was very good! The soup base tastes like kimchi jjigae. I also recommend the tteokbokki here, the sauce tastes a little sweet but it's one of my favorites tteokbokki's. We also tried the hot pot, which has ramen, bulgogi, dumplings and other random ingredients. It was good but not good enough to get again. The kimchi pancake was good too, although I've never had a bad one before. We also got the bulgogi roll, which was literally just seaweed, rice, bulgogi, and cucumber. Personally I think it was pretty plain and wouldn't get it again. We also tried the watermelon soju, which tasted more like watermelon water than soju. I think it could've been stronger and sweeter. It does come with dry ice though to keep your soju cool :). The interior has dark lighting, loud music playing, and is packed with people. Great variety of food you can get here besides the usual korean bar stuff. Everything was pretty tasty. The fruit soju is a lil overrated but its cool to get it for ur first visit. Taste was actually not that sweet but the soju wasnt overpowering either. DONT GET THE COCONUT SOJU. Its the worst one...taste is bleh. You can't really go wrong with your order but I recommend the steamed pork ribs. I'm a fan of Korean food but all I can say about this restaurant is my dishes lacked flavor! Dae Bak fries: you shouldn't go wrong with fries, cheese, jalapeños, sour cream and onions. But this dish had no flavor other than jalapeño! I blame it on the cheese. If there is a name for a flavor less mild than mild then this is it. Is it even cheese at that point? This dish was so disappointing. Potstickers: I did like that these were fried so they had a crispy shell. But that's about it. They were pretty oily if you didn't eat them right away. Came here after a reunion for dinner and there wasn't a wait, yay! The con would be the limited parking space. Spicy Rice Cake/ Ddeokbokki with Ramen: It was HUGE! I'm not kidding! If we weren't hungry, this would have been the only order of food we needed for 4 people. It was served piping hot and was very delicious as well. The ddeok or rice cake was al dente, and the sauce was a perfect mix of spice and sweet. The ramen in it took it to another level! I'll definitely come back for this next time. Grilled Galbi: These tasted ok. Not bad but not great either. I'm not sure if I'll order that again. The Bulgogi Roll: These were ok as well. Nothing bad, but I had better elsewhere. The ingredients tasted very fresh though. As for the drinks: Yogurt Soju: This was delicious, but you know, I'm partial to my Soju mixes. A few friends of mine wanted to have a late dinner for Father's Day, so we decided to come here. It was extremely busy and we had a baby with us, so as we were about to leave... We got seated in a private room, which was awesome. I'll tell you right now, there's no way you won't spend any less than $20 here, so yes, it's pretty pricey. I ended up getting the Spam Kimchi Fried Rice, the seafood pancake, and the watermelon soju, and all this ended up being a huge amount of food. I usually do my best to finish whatever it is I order, but I didn't realize every single one of those dishes, except maybe the fried rice, is supposed to be shared. The watermelon soju came in a hallowed out watermelon. They do the same for other fruit too, as one of the people in our group ordered a pineapple one, which was also delicious. While everything was nice to Instagram, there was nothing particularly amazing in regards to the taste of our dishes. Literally the best place for tteokbokki!! There's not a single thing here I don't like. My favorites are the tteokbokki, kim-chi fried rice, cheese corn, bulgogi kimbap, and the seafood pancake. All their portions are huge and I love it! There's always left overs to bring home so I can enjoy it again! I've been to Dae Bak once before with no issues, but last night's experience with my table of 4 was not good. Firstly, we noticed that our server (an older Korean lady) seemed to be giving us much worse service than the other tables around us. I originally wanted to order from their hotpot menu, but she said that they didn't have it available for the rest of the night. So we ordered the seafood pancake (which was good), and beef brisket soup (which was NOT good and tasted like watery hamburger juice with 4 little slices of brisket). For $23, the soup was absolutely not worth it. After bringing us our food, she was nowhere to be seen and we had to flag down another server to come assist us, especially when they forgot my friend's order of the Bulgogi roll after we nearly finished our food. One of the issues was that despite being told that they weren't serving hotpot, we happened to notice 3 new tables who came in after us being served hotpot. And throughout our entire dinner, our table had been ignored and every time we made eye contact with our server, she'd look the other way. It seems that you have a major advantage if you're Korean or personally know the staff, which is pretty ridiculous. The main issue was towards the end. When presented our bill, it turns out we were charged for a table of 5 despite there being 4 of us, which gives them automatic gratuity of 20% and the tax was over 10% so our bill costed way more than it should have. When we tried clearing up the issue, she got irritated and was refusing to fix it and shooed us away until another younger server intervened and helped us take care of it. Eventually the older lady (our original server) finally decided to fix our bill, but she passive aggressively insisted that we tipped her after what we experienced as the new bill didn't include the automatic gratuity. Overall, not only were we lied to about them serving certain foods by them picking and choosing tables, but we were also nearly scammed with a higher bill than we were supposed to. So if you come here, then definitely beware and double check your bill as well. read more

Daebak is good for mainly one of two reasons - BIG portions and then SOJU. Overall - great night time vibe, food, SOJU, large party get togethers, late night beer and just that good at being bad for you grub. This place is pretty big, filled with mainly booths and a few private rooms, bar type ambiance, TV screens with either sports or Kpop videos blasting. For large parties, they do take reservations. Food talk: (1) Fried Chicken - I love me some Korean Fried Chicken! The portion is very generous and the chicken not so bad. Super crispy and fried , half regular and the other doused in the usual spicy red paste sauce. (2) Kimchee Fried Rice - comes with a nice sunny side egg, but overall this was just OK. Rice was a little too soggy. (3) Grilled Squid - large generous portion and could've been so good...if it was (1) grilled (2) charred. Not sure how they cooked it BC it was somehow too chewy, yet not charred = no bueno. I personally love my squid grilled and charred. (4) Seafood Pancake - is OK, large portion and not bad - but def. not the best I've had. (5) Potato Pancake - started off really good at first, but after a while these were just too oily overall. (6) Hot Pot - this really surprised me, didn't expect much - but it was pretty damn good. Personal sized hot pot with ramen/beef/veggies in a kimchi broth was pretty satisfying. (7) Corn Cheese - corn and cheese!! Two of my faves! On a hot sizzling plate - can't complain much, simple and tasty. (8) Omelette fried rice - just weirdd...the ketchup and many, many flavors all just became weird. My least fave. Soju think you can drink: (1) Pineapple soju - the best soju here! They do something a little extra with this one, (1st) it comes in its own fruit on a stone pot with hot ice under for a visual woo. (2nd) the pineapple one only comes as a more frothy texture + sweet pineapple bits - so smooth, barely taste the soju. (2) Watermelon soju - this one is nothing special, watermelon juice mixed with soju in the usual watery texture. It comes in the actual watermelon and you can shave at the insides for fresh tasty watermelon bits. But the soju overall is still very strong in this one. read more

First time trying this late night joint. Now I've tried many korean restaurants, but I'm still not a true aficionado. But I saw they offered mushroom tofu soup (soon dubu) which is always ordered if on menu. Overall the broth was spiced medium, as I requested, but the broth was watery. In some broths, their is a bit of viscosity , but this was simply reddish water. It did contain all shapes of soft tofu chunks and just enough mushrooms slices. It came with a small amount of fresh steamed rice. The reason for the low score was the broth quality was subpar and since I ordered to go. Their fruit soju cocktails are yummy and come served with dry ice. The fruit sits atop a small soondubu bowl which is pretty cute. My friends and I ordered the watermelon soju and the pineapple soju. It's impressive that they have the soju served in the hollowed out fruit. It's cute and is nice for photos...haha. We also tried the 'daebak' fries which had some sort of spicy sauces, cheese, and meat on it. It was pretty good and satisfying to eat (maybe because of all the soju?) Horrible costumer service Food ok more on the pricey side the place looks not so clean and the smell inside it's kind of weird any way I've been a couple of times here and today I brought some friends I told them the food was ok which it is , after a long long long wait finally the waitress comes to our table and take our order rushing us to order so we did I asked if we can get some of the side dishes that they put on the table she bluntly said no I said ok ... but why I've been here before and we always get them she said I don't know who does that but you have to spend certain amount of money to get them I was baffled so my friend said if u want them order more and we did. After we order we never saw the waitress again we have to chase her down get water we asked for extra pair of chopsticks which we got after asking 3 times and when we almost finished at this point my friend was really upset because of the attitude of our waitress since the beginning and the ambiance and everything else, so he took the tab paid and we left. We were walking on the parking lot when we heard someone calling us, it was the waitress!! She was upset because my friend didn't tip her more !!! She said why you don't tip me more I work so hard my friend said I didn't tip u because i didn't like your service you were rude and never went to my table until I asked for the check my table had no water and it was full of plates that we didn't need and no one went to see how we were doing not once that why I didn't tip you more to which she replied I know but we're busy and your tab was $180+ And you don't leve more tips I decided to walk away and let my friend deal with it he was walking away when I heard " Don't never come back here bitch" I just couldn't believe it. First of all I am a waitress and yes we live on tips but come on, I would never in my life would chase a costumer because he didn't tip or tip too little I work for my tips I provide a good and friendly service I'm polite and attentive I don't expect a costumer tip me jus because I take the order and give them the check earning a tip is doing everything in between those two tings and yes I understand the industry is understaffed and that we get busy and stressed out but being nice and friendly goes a long way lady being entitled and rude won't help u to get better tips and chasing down your costumers and calling them names definitely won't help your business . So I do not recommend any one coming here there's a lot of places in the area cleaner tastier and with a way better service. read more

Average food but pleasant service. Indoor dining is open with all protocols in place. Definitely better quality Korean restaurants in the South Bay, especially at the mid-tier price point. The ramdon was exciting to see on the menu, but was just regalar ramen unfortunately. Banchan was good, clam noodle salad was plentiful and tasty. read more
