1st time customer here and I was NOT disappointed. I ordered through the yelp/grub hub app and picked up my 3 way combo in about 15 minutes. [potato salad ] i can tell it's made from scratch because it had bits of green bell peppers and it was delicious. 10/10 [medium sauce ] sweet with a little kick. I got a side of the HOT level and that made my scalp sweat a little but in a good way. I was still able to enjoy my meal after having it. Awesome stuff 10/10. [ Hot link ] beef and well seasoned. Thinly sliced 1/4 inch thick if you like that. I'd prefer thicker slices tbh. 8/10. [ Ribs ] smokey flavor and cooked just right with that competition style bite. Meat comes off clean from the bone. 10/10 [ rib tips ] Were the star if the show !! I never had these before but glad I ordered them. Super moist , fatty , and tons of flavor. 10/10 [corn bread & sweet potato pie ] portion is too small for the price , otherwise they tasted ok. 6/10 I'll be back. Thanks for the good BBQ. read more

The service is always good , sometimes a little slow being that they only have 1 cashier. The atmosphere is great always clean no issues there. Now let's get started on the food, every time I call in to place an order they are always forgetting something NEVER FAILS. when I'm visiting I crave good comfort food & Dad's is one of the many spots I go to. The food is really good Great bbq! I live far away so it's never easy for me to just go back so they can correct the issue read more

The Food was great ,portions were nice, and staff was so happy ..it in return mad me happy.I'm not really a fan of church music but, beautiful church music blasts through the air releasing the feeling of nostalgia ,reminiscent of innocent childhood sundays with family.Me and my wife ate there today on 3.7.25 .Staff was so polite passing us as we ate,the waiter at the counter checked on us periodically The feeling of love and hospitality flowed across the counter. It was my 2nd time there and I wanted to show my wife, they did not disappoint! Most bbq places are stingy and most family owned restaurants don't have good customer service but I'm so proud to be a patron of this local establishment that I will definitely be back lol WITH MORE FAMILY MEMBERS WITH ME!!!!!!!! read more

Probably the best BBQ in Walnut Creek area. Prices are high but the portions are large enough to last for two meals. It's Mississippi style so the sauce is a bit sweeter than Memphis BBQ but well-balanced. The greens and the mac are delicious. The ribs and tri-tip are top-notch. Loved the hot links (not that hot) but the mild links are a disappointment. The staff is wonderful! The place is immaculate. We've been twice in a week. Ate in once and to-go once. So happy to have Dad's near our home. read more

Dad's BBQ has good flavor but they are soooooo inconsistent! Tonight, we spent $60 on (2) two way combos and a bowl of gumbo. My plate consisted of four ribs and tri-tip. Two rib pieces was all fat and the other two was all bone. The potato salad tasted "funny" ... like on the verge of spoiling. The beans and tri-tip was cool, but not enough to put a dent in my hunger pains. My husband was disappointed in the gumbo (no seafood). When you catch them on a good night .... It's good!! But the problem is that BBQ is too expensive to still be hungry with 1/2 your order inedible. I don't think I'll be gambling on Dad's again ... at least not anytime soon. read more

Love the food, but not worth $22. I asked will I get ripped tips also with my ribs? oh yes, you will she said. I said I like a lot of sauce so I can sap my bread in it, okay no problem, she said. Got home, I can barely see any sauce, no rib tips, ribs are all bone s, I literally close my eyes shook my head just to open my eyes to see is this for real? This has to be the $12 lunch special! I don't know but I don't see myself going back not for this. I'm Kool ! Good luck dad's! read more

I was really hoping this place would be delicious. I ordered the ribs with green beans and potato salad. The green beans were from a can, sure they seasoned them and the flavor was good but they still have that canned bean texture, potato salad was ok and the ribs were ok but I expected better. I really wanted some delicious ribs. Unfortunately mediocre is the best I can say about Dads Barbecue. read more

This review is for their food truck that was situated at Rotator Taproom this past weekend. We ordered their fried catfish, fries, mac and cheese, and BBQ chicken. Generally speaking, the food was decent - specifically the catfish and mac and cheese. However the chicken was very dry. The 3 stars is due to the hit or miss of food, but also based on the vibe the person taking our order was giving. He was a bit short and unfriendly. I thought it was just us but my friend made a comment as well after she ordered. We probably won't order from here again. read more

First time, came in 2 weeks ago and was disappointed with the food and how much I paid for. I don't mind paying, but the quality of food, should be better than what I spent. The food was cold, looked and taste like it has been sitting all day. I was really hoping that it wasn't like that, considering what I was hearing and seeing through IG. Sorry for the negative feedback, but it was not a great experience for me. read more

I was looking for Dad's BBQ. I had ordered food from their food truck. When I located the restaurant I must admit the food was delicious. The BBQ ribs were so tender it was falling off the bone. The best Mac and cheese and sweet potato pie I have ever tasted. read more

Hadn't been there for almost a year due to helping friend who's health was failing. Called in an order 2 orders of ribs in a combo plus 2 sides. Picked up the bag w my order inside and it felt so light that I questioned if they got the order right. Opened the order and the ribs were so tiny you could probably pick your teeth w the bones. Nowhere near the quality I was used to from Dads. And, then I had to stand an argue about the portions everyone in the restaurant agreed w me including a person just providing a service there. One customer mumbled I know my order better have more than that. No attempt to add to the portions and seems no one there had the authority to do so. There seems to be portion control there. The owner had to be contacted and ok a refund. Once my favorite go to spot for bbq don't think I'll be going back until I hear things have changed. Staff was as polite as they could be but seems like their hands are tied when it comes to responding or decision making. I couldn't pay $42 inc $5 tip which I let them keep without feeling like a fool. I met Dad the owner bf saw him there a few times and he seems like a very nice man. Wish him the best. read more

I well over paid for this 1/2 a meal. For 1 charging $3.00 extra for greens and $3.00 extra for Mac n cheese when your meal comes with sides is ridiculous. And you only get about $2.00 worth. For the price I will not return there at all. I spent $30.00 for 3 small ribs and about 5 pieces of tri-tip. NEVER AGAIN read more

Way Combo. With greens and tater salad! Really smoked onsite. Great staff. Moderately priced. No alcohol. Could of used a cold beer. It's Brentwood after all... not a ding for that. Just an observation. Came for a late lunch my girl. Very casual, nice crowd. Average wait for food. It's not fast food. Not a ding, again just an observation. The staff was making the sides as we were there because they do a lot of business. Ok so I had it.... And love it! Real deal here folks. I never gave 5 stars til now. Authentic BBQ. Be ready for the heat if you ask for hot sauce... best greens I've had in years. Come on down! read more

Tried this place and sadly it wasn't for me a lot of people really like this spot so I figured id support a local business but the flavor wasn't there. Maybe I'll try it again another day but the meat wasn't cooked all the way. I'll give them one more chance. read more

Tried Dad's BBQ for the 3rd and final time. Ordered "Mama's Gumbo", some hot links and mild links, and a lb of tri-tip. Jumbo was an absolute joke. First off, it's $18 bucks for a cup, probably 12oz if I had to guess. Definitely on the higher price point. But I figured if it was good, it would be worth it. I understand the price of everything is up, and they have to make a profit. Not to mention, in the description, it shows the gumbo with lots of crab meat and shrimp and sausage, looks quite yummy. Also appears red in the pic. What I received was watery, green liquid. It's about 2" of rice on the bottom, and 3" of green "gumbo" on the top. Absolutely zero crab and shrimp, and 3 small pieces of sausage. Taste is mediocre at best. Also, there was a new girl working, preparing food, and she asked how to heat it to a coworker, who stated "I normally just microwave it". Thought that was strange, but maybe that's normal. Pics/video attached Next was the links. Got 2 hot and 1 mild. All three links were sliced when I got them, really really burnt on the outside, and drenched in bbq sauce. Like 1" of liquid bbq sauce in the small tray they come in. The sauce I'm sure was to either hide the burnt flavor, or to disguise the fact they probably weren't cooked that day. Either way, very disappointing. The tri-tip was decent, but also covered in bbq sauce and cut already into strips that were probably the height and width of a pencil. The sauce was okay, but kinda watery/thin. Only major complaint with the tri-tip, was that every thin strip had a lot of fat on each end of it. Some pieces had 1/4" of fat, some had a full 1" of fat on both ends. Some people prefer that, I don't care for it. All in all, for the items above, was $60 bucks, and fed 2 adults and a small child. I feel like if they cooked their food more fresh, it would be more desirable, more busy, more successful. Easier said than done, I know. But I was the only person in there for 10 minutes(food was prepared in that time). Hope they can make some minor changes, otherwise I'll continue to visit Kinders and other spots outside of the area. Best of luck! read more

Dropped by on my way home for the first time today. Purchased 2 combo meals. Tri tip/chicken & ribs/sausage. Both meals were ordered with green beans and mac & cheese. The down and dirty: Meat: Not fresh, previously overcooked and refrigerated. Reheated and covered with a sauce when served in an attempt to mask their lack of pit skills.. (Sir, Would you like that sauce on the side?) Quality: Was given the fatty end cuts of the tri tip in lieu of slices. Flavor: Not there. Anyone with a Weber Original and charcoal can do better than this. On my way out with my order I asked the cook when they were going to get brisket on the menu, he stated that tri tip and brisket was the same thing... I knew I was in trouble before I took the first bite. read more

It's a little hit & miss for me but they satisfy the immediate need for fast BBQ. I like the medium sauce is on the hotter side but it was a bit spicier for some folks that I offered food to share. Ribs were decent, beef tips were on the chewy side and the potato salad was basic and the green tasted as if they came out of a can, which made one of my peeps not want to have any. read more

This is some good BBQ!! I come from Napa, CA and my dad is from Shreveport, Louisiana and he knows bbq and I have yet to find a comparable place and I found it here in Antioch! The tri tip was was delightful and had a perfect bark! The sausage was smoked to perfection with a nice char on the outside and super juicy. The chicken was amazing! It was not dried out like most places and the mild bbq sauce had such great flavor! The potato salad was amazing and had the perfect amount of Mayo and chopped boiled egg! The beans were good too! Nice and sweet in a thick sauce! The only disappointment on this plate was the cornbread muffin. It was burnt and dry! I expected better but maybe this was the off time to get a fresh cornbread? I wasn't impressed with this at all. All in all, if you want some great bbq with amazing sauce and the best flavors in town, I would highly recommend this place. Maybe ask how fresh the cornbread is and check the bottom beforehand. read more

Worst BBQ ever. I had a 2 meat plate. All chicken wing bones and tri-tip crumbs. Really disappointed. Who would serve this ? Beans taste like Bush beans. Corn bread was hard and dried out, from winco? Deserts were $5 a pop. If you are on the fence about going here, Run away. All the good reviews must be family members. Never again. read more

The food and service here can really be hit or miss. I usually order the chicken, but more often than not, it ends up being pretty dry. There have been times when I've been impressed by the generous portions--like, wow, this is a lot of food! But other times, it feels like my plate is mostly scraps and bones. It's inconsistent. That said, I still find myself coming back whenever I'm craving BBQ. It's kind of a gamble whether it'll be great or just okay--but I've come to accept that, and I'm okay with it. read more
