Pretty meh experience. I got the Kanaka plate and didn't receive the spam as I was supposed to. The eggs also were completely burnt- nothing like what I saw in a few of the pictures. The rest of the food was just okay- save for the Portuguese sausage which was very good and saved this place from a one star. The service, however, is terrible. We waited quite a long time for the food once we ordered, but they were busy so I give that a pass. However, the guy who I assume is the owner has the social skills of a kumquat. He argued with the female business partner, yelled at his employees several times, and made the dining experience incredibly uncomfortable. He also came to us a few times to be our main server and never said a word. When asked for a coffee refill, he was mute, gave us a rude look, and brought the coffee pot along with the check and set it on the table. We were quick to leave after that. Wish we had gone somewhere else to end our vacation. I can get past a person who is rude to me, but being that rude to your employees is unacceptable, all because he brought the wrong plate to our table. COVID 19 hit us pretty hard in 2020 and we haven't been able to travel in a minute. Now, we are vaccinated and had negative CV test so the world (Kau'ai at least) has magically opened to us. In the year's past, we had some pretty sad experiences on Kau'ai, but our first pick (Thanks to Yelp) was a delightful surprise. So much that we came the next day to try more stuff. Here are my highlights. The KANAKA breakfast is pretty darn good, but it's also $17. You get two pancakes, one scoop each of white rice and fried rice, hash browns, three eggs, toast, bacon, Portuguese sausage, bacon, Spam, ham and links. Wanna make even better? Add Vienna sausage! The OXTAIL soup is a distant Number Two in the US on my list. MW is still number One. The broth was really intense and the meat was humongous. It also had clear rice noodle. It left some desires, but it was still worth the mention. Chicken and Waffles. All I know is that the chicken was intensely fried with skin like chips! Lovely! Married to a Kauai boy, we always take an early flight when we visit and creatures of habit, always have breakfast at one of three places. Our older daughter joined us on this Girls Day trip and found this place to try. Hubs told us the rental car guy mentioned this place to two tourists who asked where a good place was to have breakfast. So hearing that we were excited to find it! Before we got to the restaurant, two in our party already knew they wanted stuffed french toast cuz of the on- line photos. Sitting in the first row of the plane I ate 3 Biscoffs cuz I was so hungry- wrong move cuz it dulled my appetite. I didn't want a heavy breakfast so chose deluxe saimin. Gotta admit it was good and tasty, couldn't finish it in entirety. The orders came out pretty fast and the whipped cream melted even faster in two of our hot cocoas. There was a woman at the cashier, an older man taking our orders on what he called his new toy, and a younger man who brought our meals and drinks. Long wait as soon as we got there, but I think it was because they were so short staffed. That being said, we probably only waited about 30 minutes. It picked up even more after we arrived. Most of the staff was older aunties & uncles so definitely bring your patience when you come. The interior could use some sprucing up, maybe at least separating the kitchen from the dining area. Service was friendly & fast when we finally did get seated. Coffee was good, not dishwater like some breakfast joints. I got the pancake breakfast which was simple, but cooked perfectly! I chose spam & scrambled eggs & then the buttermilk pancakes were tasty! My hubby got the Ono omelette & he said it was nothing special. Too many different components, but nothing to make it a satisfying, cohesive dish. Overall, it's a good little mom & pop breakfast joint. We stopped in here for a late breakfast right after our flight from Oahu, and it was amazing! We lucked out on the timing and crowd, as there was no wait and the food was great. I had the fancy blueberry cheesecake French toast with fruit, and added a side of Portuguese sausage. So flavorful! My husband had the pancake plate, he commented on how fluffy and tasty they were. The room is a cafe style and older + understated, but welcoming and clean. We chatted with the owner who was kind and enjoyed a laugh. I really liked their shrimp stuffing. It was the first place that has blended mushrooms into anything and I haven't noticed and that's a big deal for me. I got the stuff shrimp sandwich and it was super flavourful and had a really nice and big portion as well! I personally couldn't finish it for one meal and would definitely go back to try more food. My friends got the fried chicken which the owner recommended and they said that was really good as well! Overall, hidden in a small plaza, but has some pretty good food. The interior isn't the most attractive but had good homey vibes :) lots of locals seen eating while we went which made us tourists feel a little out of place, but that's also how you know this is the good stuff read more

Good brunch spot in a small plaza. When we arrived they were full and asked us to wait outside for about 20min. But we were actually seated in less than 10min. The inside is not big and all tables are pretty close to one another. We ordered French toast, shrimp Benedict, breakfast burger and a local breakfast. The food was good. Kind of the typical neat brunch level good. We came there because we saw a photo online of their Ube pancake, but were told that they were actually out of those pancakes, because they will close the next day. Bummer! I don't think it's their fault however. We were just unlucky. Overall decent brunch place. If you are close by and enjoy brunch, check them out. If not, no need to drive 1h to come as there are plenty of good brunch place in Kauai. read more

Food is delicious! We ordered the Yelp favorites and it was spot on. Stuffed shrimp Benedict was the best! Two perfectly poached eggs over grilled shrimp. The "stuffed" part is some very nicely sauteed bits of meat. The Hollandaise sauce is the best part...really rich, creamy (but not heavy) sauce to top over everything. I'd lick the plate if people weren't staring. Stuffed French toast was also good. I like how it comes a fruit medley, and the pineapple was just as delicious as I remembered from my first Hawaii trip. Loco Moco plate was a good portion and tasty. Owners are super nice as well. They overheard us talking about going to the beach and they made some recommendations. That's what we love....doing what the local do! read more

We were asked to wait in line for the front desk male owner doesn't know how to take to go orders - he was doing nothing except waiting from for his wife who is busy with other customers. If you haven't been here yet, I don't know what you're doing with your life. Go ASAP and have any of their food items. Based on my experience, I would imagine that anything here is delicious. I tried their Deluxe Saimin Noodles and their stuffed French Toast. The noodles were amazing. French toast is "cuter", and gives the good glucose supply you need to jumpstart your day. But the noodles really had me feeling fulfilled. Their coffee is pretty whatever though, ngl. The couple that runs this location is very sweet too. Staff are friendly. French Toast tasted like two dry pieces of bread with dry cream cheese in between. Chicken was under seasoned and had a really large piece of bones in it, waffle was thin and flavorless. So this was my experience... We put our names on the electronic wait list and were told there would be a 4-14 minute wait, not a big deal. Then we watched as those who arrived after us got seated. We checked with the man at the counter to find out why we hadn't been seated only to find out he took us off the list. We finally got seated and the water, drinks and silverware arrived quickly. However we must have waited about 10-15 minutes to place our order. The place was not that crowded. The only waitress took our order and we never saw her again. Keep in mind there we're four of us, two couples. After about 15-20 minutes two of the four meals showed up and they were room temperature at best. A good 20 minutes went by and the two other meals were still MIA. The only reason the other meals showed up was because we were able to track down the waitress and ask about the food. Truth be told, I would have been happy if the food never showed up, because it turns out food sitting under warmer lights doesn't stay hot but has a tendency dry out and is room temperature when delivered to the table. Of all the meals we've had since we've been on the island, this place was not a do-over. read more

Leave it to trusty Yelp to point us in the right direction. My man and I landed at 9:30am and looked for a breakfast spot with spam, eggs and Portuguese sausage and this place didn't disappoint. Amazing food, reasonably priced. We loved it so much we went back the following day for Breakfast. The first time we tried the full breakfast platter with Spam, Bacon, Eggs, Ham, Rice, etc and my man ordered the Loco Moco. He mentioned the Loco Moco could've used a bit more gravy. The second time we had steak and eggs with a side of Portuguese sausage and he had the Oxtail soup. Now the Oxtail soup was absolutely AMAZING especially after a hangover. The broth was super tasty alone but adding the ginger and cilantro definitely elevated the soup. When we go back to Kauai, we will definitely hit this place up and def recommend it! read more

First time I visited Kauai since I had to work and helped out . very neat at the airport about 10 mins drive only, A lot of parking space. The inside is very local style vibe and greet you right away. They have a check in stand and let you put your name and how long will be the wait . We didn't wait that long. I ordered the loco moco smalll size and it's enough for me. It was good it's a cooking like your really at home. Would recommend it even their eggs Benedict are good .
