The thing that really set the mood for us though was how angry all the staff was. They skipped over us multiple times and when we would ask for something like more water, we were met with animosity and half full glasses. We were so confused about why they were angry with us. Daddy Os is your typical local diner that is frequented by locals but also tourist since their food is so ono! It's your basic breakfast menu, pancakes, french toast, waffles, eggs benedict, and eggs, rice, and a breakfast meat. We ate here twice while on vacation in Kauai. During those two occasions we tried the Loco Moco, French Toast, Tripe Stew, Eggs Benedict, and Stuffed French Toast. The Loco Moco was really good, it had home made hamburger patty's, and it had that flame broiled flavor. The regular French Toast was perfect, as they used sweet bread and dipped it in a lot of batter. The Stuffed French Toast was filled with blue berry cream cheese and sweet enough that you didn't really need syrup, and the star of the show was the Tripe Stew, if you liike tripe. The owner told us it's the best Tripe Stew you will ever have, and my wife who is a Tripe Stew aficionado confirmed that it's the best she's ever had and she's tried a lot of Tripe Stew. The service is excellent, and although the place gets quite busy, they turn over the tables fairly quickly. They also give you a discount if you pay cash. Once you are seated, they work diligently to get you in and out the door to seat more people, sometimes a little pushy but they were nice. Someone from San Diego reviewed and highly recommended the breakfast burrito. I am also from SD and do not recommend the breakfast burrito. Heard this place was amazing. Decided to give it a try. When we pulled up there was a line outside (a good sign) we had to wait 15 minutes to be seated not too bad. I tried the stuffed shrimp Benedict (their specialty) had I have known it was stuffed with shrimp and pork I wouldn't have ordered it. Ground pork and shrimp just doesn't go together. My husband ordered their signature omelet and my daughter ordered a cheeseburger. The food was ok, nothing I'd go back to again. $80 later made me wish I would have spent it elsewhere. My son got the chicken and waffles and he said the waffles were frozen type. He happened to look across at there shelf and saw a couple of Belgium waffle boxes so that confirmed they were frozen. Absolutely LOVE Daddy O's!! We didn't expect such a wonderful experience but it was AMAZING! We were referred by our agent at Hertz Rental Car for breakfast. We were greeted warmly by Chef Harry and his wife. Service was friendly and attentive. We ate the stuffed shrimp benedict and the french toast. Both were really delicious! The amazing part was we were invited back for dinner to try out his new menu. We had garlic bread, house salad, caesar salad, stuffed mushroom, prime rib, dry aged rib eye, lobster tail and a korean shave ice dessert. It was a lot of food and we were stuffed when we left! Everything was incredibly flavorful and delicious!! The garlic bread was soooo ono and the steak and lobster was incredible! The whole experience was OUTSTANDING! We wanted something for breakfast that was a little off the beaten track and Daddy Os hit the spot. Located in the business district of Lihue meant that there wasn't a long line to get in for just a mediocre breakfast. We got our table immediately, drinks almost immediately, and placed our orders quickly. We were both a little surprised at how quickly our food came out. We routinely come to Kauai and Daddy Os so far is the absolute best breakfast we have had yet. The food portions were perfectly sized. My husband had the ono omelette with rice. There was absolutely no grease on or in the omelet and lots of fresh veggies inside. I had the deluxe waffles and they were definitely deluxe. Perfect sized with fresh fruit. The syrup bottle actually worked well and wasn't sticky on the outside. The cherry on top was the coffee. They bring your first cup and then you are welcome to get your own after. Somewhat biased as the owner, Harrry S.,is an army buddy/ Vietnam veteran. We hadn't seen each other for over 50 years. Harry is a genuine hero; as a helicopter pilot, he and his crew rescued some grunts off a hillside after they were ambushed and taking casualties. They had a coffee bar where you could grab refills and had a variety of creamers to choose from. My boyfriend got a platter that came with an insane amount of food. It came with eggs, bacon, sausage, Portuguese sausage, spam, ham, toast, white rice, fried rice, hash browns and pancakes for only $17. The amount of food was insane and everything was tasty. Our group came in for breakfast on a Friday morning. Ordered the stuffed pancake and the Benedict. Both items were excellent, some of the best we've ever had. If Yelp would allow more stars, this place deserves it. Owner Harry came out and chatted with us, recommending his steamed mamapua and pork hash, which were both excellent. We even ordered extra manapua and pork hash to be eaten the next day, and it still tasted delicious.
