Multiple layers of flavor and all the right textures. Visually appealing on the plate as well. Solid cocktail list here. I'm a big fan that they go old school with a hot toddy. The applejack brandy added to that is a nice touch. Service is excellent here. Prices reasonable given the quality of the dishes. Will be back the next time I'm in town for sure. Walking up this place has great ambiance, perfect for a first date. The indoor seating was closed…read morebut the outdoor seating was great. The menu was quite promising. Ordered a cucumber chamomile gin and tonic, which left something to be desired. We started with the blackberry salad which on the menu said it also included avocado but there was none on the salad-despite this the salad was great. Our mains were good but not great. The biggest issue I found here was despite our server being very nice while ordering she NEVER checked in on us after anything arrived, never refilled waters either. So although she was nice the service was not good as there were times we wanted to order something else and one of the entrees didn't arrive as it was ordered but our server never checked in. All things considered I think I would only come here to grab a salad or appetizer.

Good not great, but it could be. That was my impression after dining at The Jervey this evening…read more The space is inviting, though it can be a bit noisy, and there seemed to be an issue with the overhead lights dimming periodically in the dining room. Our water was brought out quickly and our drink order was taken at the same time. The young man was quick and friendly, but he wasn't our server. It was a bit busy, but our server arrived soon enough, and we ordered the tuna tartare and the rolls. Both were tasty, and we both enjoyed the spicy tuna. After we had finished our appetizers, our order was eventually taken, and not long after, our food arrived. We both enjoyed our entrees. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the scallops were as well. The sides were fine, with lobster Mac and cheese being the standout. Overall, I think what we found lacking was atmosphere and personality. While everyone we interacted with was pleasant enough, it didn't feel like the fine dining experience advertised on the website. There was no asking if we had any questions about the menu, no highlighting of dishes, or specials of any sort. It just felt like they were serving top notch food in an average chain restaurant playing dress-up atmosphere. The elements are there for The Jervey to be amazing, but right now they just aren't there yet, in my opinion. I will definitely go back and enjoy the food again, that's for sure.

Jeremy and Ross and the wait staff were there to support it all. Everyone was especially nice and gave their own flavor to this neat spot. We began with drinks, what a great selection of wine. We went with cocktails which did not disappoint. This shifted into an amazing array of food. The trout was to die for, the Hangar was very well seasoned. Seasoned to perfection?. The Mac and cheese was like no other available in Charlottesville and the burger was exactly as it should have been. The fries had the right amount of truffle. Great appearance, atmosphere, A++!

In case you have never been they offer steaks that are cooked in a brick fire oven. AMAZING I ordered the VA sirloin which was cooked to perfection (medium rare) with creamed spinach and potatoes. The creamed spinach and the potatoes were very delicious and flavorful. I also ordered the fried oysters which were great. Not overly fried and still maintained the texture and flavor of a typical oyster. The service was impeccable. Our waitress was very entertaining and helpful. She was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. She ensured that wanted for nothing. The ambiance was great. I loved the cow theme as well as the signage that stated "no well done steaks". It was a great touch. Overall, I had a great experience. If I am in Charlottesville again I will definitely visit.

Some steaks at restaurants are much too salty for me. For sides, we got the brussel sprouts and smashed red potatoes. Both were excellent but the brussel sprouts are a must-have.
