We only get to hit this place once a year or so, but we never pass it up when we're in the area. The Big Kahuna is awesome, one of our favorites. Beware though, the rolls are huge! Great "Hawaiian Barbecue." Remember to get your meat poly sized. Double the meat means enough to take home. Macaroni salad is mild and yummy. Barbecue sauce is awesome too. I like that I can choose how much to add to my meats/rice. read more

I had the mahi mahi sandwich. It was fine, a little greasy and not very well seasoned. The kids meal was huge so that was definitely a plus. The waitress was nice, but overall everything was on the expensive side for what you were getting. read more

I have been there twice now. The tampora sushi is great! Get it to go though because the service is terrible. The first time I went we waited over 45 minutes for our food and this time we waited for an hour and fifteen minutes for our food. They hardly came over to check on us or refill our drinks, try never apologized for the wait (didn't last time either), and it took a long time to process our checks even after we made it clear we were in a hurry. read more

I love this place. My roommates and I love coming here for sushi. It is hands down the best sushi in Rexburg. Their whole menu is great and have very generous portion sizes. Probably the worst service I have ever received. The food took a long time, people who sat down after us got their food before us. Not to mention once we got it we hadn't even had it for 4minutes before the server came back and asked if we would like some boxes. The set up was horrible, hard to have a one on one time when the set up is horrible. They put us right next to the kitchen so it was hard to hear. We got the lettuce wraps and they were really good, and we also ordered the pig dig dinner or something like that and the only thing that wasn't bland was the chicken, which was The smallest portion. The food was definitely over priced and the restaurants schedule sucks, they only serve dinner 3xs per week which in a town like Rexburg is ridiculous. It's good Hawaiian food for Rexburg. I'm from Las Vegas and have had sushi there, in California, and Florida so it's hard for Da Pineapple Grill to compare. We got the Philly roll, the Hawaii roll, and the Kauai entree. The tuna in the Philly roll was really firm. I am used to sushi just melting in my mouth and this was a little more chewy. The entree was okay. The teriyaki beef didn't have a ton of flavor; the sauce was quite bland. The tempura shrimp was pretty plain but the chicken katsu was pretty good. The fried rice tasted like it had way too much black pepper. The service was okay, our waitress was nice. Overall, it was mediocre. I will probably give it a second shot before I write it off. read more

We came during lunch at about 1 on a Tuesday so no one else was in the restaurant except for a man. Even with it being slow, our server Shayla was attentive and enthusiastic. She did visit us a lot, but with good timing and didn't over stay. She even gave me a soda to go without asking. The food was fresh and hot. We had the tempura veggies which were crispy, but soft, but still had a little snap to them. Then we ordered the Dragon roll which was delicious, but the masago covered every inch to a point that made a bit too much texture! The chicken was tender and moist and the sauce was great! The sushi here is surprisingly fresh for Idaho. The spicy crab roll is some of the best sushi I've ever had. The hawaiian food is pretty good as well, but isn't as good as the sushi. The service is friendly, but the food often takes a really long time to come out. read more

If you want real Hawaiian food this place is mediocre at best. Being from Hawaii, I can say the food is...ok. But extremely over priced. $5 for 2 manapua?! Insane. Don't even get me started on the aloha drink prices. The wait is always long no matter when we go. But expect to be waiting anywhere from 20-50 minutes for your food. I like the waiters/waitresses but have heard from behind the scenes they're pretty catty to each other. Since this is the only place for miles and miles that has hawaiian food, when you get that craving, this will have to do. They have the weirdest hours too though. I was so ticked, we came here my graduation day for our celebratory early dinner with a good sized family. They were all looking forward to try this place. But when we got there at 1:45 they told us they close at 2. And open at 5, well obviously I couldn't come back at 5 cause I'd be receiving my diploma! Horrible business choice. Choosing to close early like that, on graduation day?! (Which they apparently do every day but you'd think they'd stay open for this day to get tons more business). By turning us away they forever lost most of what little respect I had for them, and also lost probably a good few hundred dollars. I ordered the chicken Katsu and it was absolutely terrible. The chicken was dry... The breading had zero flavor and the sauce that usually makes this dish so tasty was disgusting. I'm never going back. And i suggest that you do the same. I don't know how you screw up chicken katsu and the somehow managed to do so. read more

My three roommates and I tried Da Pineapple Grill for the first time and we had moderate expectations. Little did we know, those expectations were too high to begin with. When we walked in we were shown to our seats, where we would unknowingly spend the next hour and a half waiting for a meal. We watched as the near empty restaurant remained unbusy, with everyone being served except for us. After the overdue wait, our server brought us a different customers order and had to unprofessionally bring it to the right customer. We eventually were able to eat and were met with sub par Hawaiian food. Even for the small town of Rexburg, there are multiple other restaurants that come to mind that serve higher quality Hawaiian food and more importantly provide higher quality service. Safe to say we will never come back to Da Pineapple Grill again, and won't be recommending it to anyone we care about. read more
