I ordered online and the guy taking my order put me on hold to "go and ask the kitchen how long my order would take" he said 15-20 mins. Okay.... Around the 15 min mark we went in and it took at lease 5 minutes before anyone even spoke to me. Someone asked why I was there I said a pick up order they said they'd go check on it and never came back. 10mins later I talked to another server who said the same thing-- Left and never came back. Finally a third person asked me if I'd already been helped and when I said yes they just walked away. I eventually just left. 15 mins later they called me to tell me my food was ready. I don't understand why they make such a big deal about going to ask the kitchen how long the food will take only for it to take double the time than the kitchen said. It looks like I'm not the only one in the reviews warning people about To Go orders... My boyfriend & I came in on a Friday night for dinner. We expected a busier than normal wait time but to say we left disappointed is definitely an understatement. I walked in with the intention of placing a to go order because of the amount of people waiting outside. There are no counters designated to assist people as they walk in so I stood near the welcome sign for about 10 minutes. Numerous staff members looked at me stand there but no one came to greet me. I finally just decided to walk to the sushi counter where I had to say, "excuse me" about 4 times before the young lady behind the counter acknowledged that I was talking to her. I said that I wanted to place a takeout order and she said she would come around the counter to take my order. She didn't. But she did send someone else a few minutes later so whatever. Upon ordering, I placed my order with the waiter and he said he was going into the kitchen to check how long it would take. He came back & stated our food would be ready in "20-25 minutes". Great. At this point I walked back to my car and waited. I sent my boyfriend in 25 minutes later. He had the same experience upon entering - no one acknowledged him for at least 5 minutes. When a waitress finally spike to him, he told them the name that was on the order. She went to the back, charged his card and came back without our food. Instead, she continued to wait on tables. He flagged her down and asked again. She went back to the kitchen and sent someone else to tell my boyfriend our order would be another 10 minutes. At this point, we're 20 minutes past our quoted time. He let me know what was going on and I told him to come back to the car. 15 minutes later, I walked back in...again, not to be greeted by any of the staff members but I knew better. I immediately spoke to the first staff member I saw and told them I am picking up my order and we have been waiting far longer than anticipated. The gentleman who originally helped said it would be another 5 minutes. Look, I understand that you're busy...but the ridiculous wait time and severe lack of quality customer service is unacceptable. I was born & raised in Hawai'i and customer service like this at a "Hawaiian" restaurant is not okay... Over an hour after our quoted wait time, we got our food and went home to eat. Da Mix Plate was fine. The steak was definitely overcooked. The kalua pig was good but that's about it. Everything else was subpar. My boyfriend's tiki burger was dry and overcooked - he said the best part was the onion rings. He actually ended up getting food poisoning from the burger. Other posts talked about how the staff would wait on others, even though the were is their seats first, and this very much true. The city it's in - Rexburg - is home to Brigham Young - Idaho, and a family of LDS came in after us and not only were they attended to slightly before us, their appetizers were served first. This being said beings said, as we aren't LDS, we have accepted this as being kind of a normal habit, where LDS family are given preference, BUT it isn't that they are being indigent to us but it seems to be a culture issue. I was very impressed with this place and the service we received. First off our waiter was trying his best, and was so kind, and he was super awesome! It would be hard to have lots of customers and servicing and making sure every order is correct, so I do appreciate his hard work, and all he did! He also was so kind and gave us a discount for waiting a long time. Second, the sushi is so good and I do recommend ordering and asking lots of questions about what the favorites are and what do add and not add. The sushi was fresh, and was made to taste good! I was satisfied with every roll I had. Sorry I don't remember them, but anything there sushi was the best! Third. If you are craving for curry Kutsu, totally worth you time to order that! It was so delicious! And my husband is very picky on his curry as he can't have seafood. They were also good about food allergies and we had no issues with it! This has become a staple for my wife and I's weekly date night! We've had a few poor experiences where customers that have came in after us were allowed to order before we were as well as a time when a couple sitting close to us that had came in after us got their food before we had been approached by a waiter. Setting that aside, the sushi, edamame and gyoza we have had have all been top quality and delicious! Yum yum yummy! Great Sushi and was very pleased to find such a great spot in Rexburg. Salad, soup and the five rolls were delicious! Large rolls and all yummy! Also, everything we saw going to other tables was amazing looking. Had the following rolls: Ezeena, Johnny Lingo, Coconut Shrimp, Volcano and Big Kahuna. However, it took about 10 minutes for a server to seat us and then another 20 minutes for a waitress to take our drink order. Seems like there was some confusion about which tables were being waited by whom. At this point it's been an hour since we've arrived and still no sight of our food. However if you find yourself waiting an eternity for the food don't be surprised. The life of a critic is both easy and difficult. We offer so little and yet still influence so much. Da pineapple grill is an experience that I enjoyed. Our cute waitress definitely made the visit enjoyable. The wait time was a bit long but for a restaurant short staffed I have had worse. The food was great. Grilled food was great although I can tell that the pulled pork was older. Being dry is common with many places when it come to the pork. The chicken was good the streak was good. I am from California and sushi there and here isn't comparable. For the price and the setting of college makes this restaurant a bit pricey. But if you take it as special occasion they have the best sushi in town. And great food. Besides that I would eat here more often if they had a cheaper lunch menu or more affordable options. read more

I'm gonna sound mean, but it needs to be said, my wife and I's visit to this place was embarrassing. We arrived at 6:30 and ordered quickly, however we didn't get our food until 7:15-7:20. My wife ordered sushi, the Philly roll, and it was terrible. The roll was 90% salmon, with 5% cream cheese and 5% avocado. If the salmon was good, wouldn't be terrible, except the salmon was saltier than the ocean and practically inedible. I got their item "Da pineapple chicken" with a side of fried rice. The dish left much to be desired, the sauce was very strong and overpowering, thankfully it went away within a second, but the chicken was chewier than gum and drier than the Sahara. It was more bland than an episode of friends and just horrible, also like an episode of friends. Honestly I think it might have been frozen chicken from the taste of it, or lack of. It doesn't stop there unfortunately, the fried rice was also really bland, it was like it was sticky rice masquerading as fried rice. It looked the part, but it did not taste the part. I was in town visiting my husbands family in Rigby. My father insisted on going to the place for sushi. So if I'm giving a unbias review based on what I think without my father in laws love for the place I give it at 3 star. Couple things is service is slow. One waiter for every table. So if you come expect to relax a little while. Decor is great I love the feel of the place. Great selection of sushi!! Honestly I can't even remember what roll I got. I do know we order the volcano which I thought was our best roll we ordered. Mine lacked flavor though and the shrimp inside was very crunchy! My brother in law said his spicy tuna roll lacked spicy. My father in law really enjoys the ginger sauce they give you with your sushi. I'm a classic girl I like wasabi and soy sauce. As for my husband he got the pot sticker Dinner he loved the pot sticker but man was the "fried" rice a disaster to both looks and taste.
