When I was moving out of Queens, NY and into Long Island, it was a bit of a hassle to find movers that were willing to cross county. Ever more so to find movers I felt I could trust. DA Moving was my final choice after a few quotes and undesirable responses from other movers. I reached out to DA Moving by phone and they asked me to confirm my address via email, their response back was amazingly quick. I appreciate the owner Diego for providing that service. He was able to schedule a visit the very next day and emailed me a quote right after. That's what I call A+ service. His team of movers were able to quickly pack everything up, of course I'm not one to sit around so I was there to help them. I provided them with water, coffee and donuts. Upon reaching my new home, they were able to unpack just as quickly. I would recommend them, but be aware of a few issues which caused me to rate them lower than you would expect based on what you have read so far. 1. Everything was done quickly; this caused some minor damage on my walls and furniture due to carelessness. It was minor, but still something I will need to get my contractors to take care of. 2. As per the quote, I had cash on-hand to pay. The moving team leader presented me with the receipt but changed a few figures using a pencil. That was a little bit surprising but acceptable since quotes may sometimes never be as accurate and I wouldn't want to short the company. 3. Besides the money on-hand for payment, I also carried a little extra for tip. I believe all these servicers should be tipped. What shocked me was when the moving team leader turned around and asked me for more since he has to split it with two other team members. This was very disappointing, and the most impactful cause on their rating. In the future I would like to use them again, mostly because of the customer service I received from Diego. I will just be more diligent in speaking with him if there are any changes on the invoice. read more

When I had to move from a 3 bedroom apartment to a house on Log Island with a lot more stuff than in my previous moves I was really anxious. Do not use this company. They are unreliable and unresponsive and were a no-show on the scheduled date of our move. I saw that DA moving had great reviews on Yelp and decided to reach out to them. I contacted DA Moving through their website. I clicked on the "Get a Quote" option and was quickly emailed by the owner Diego Anazco with a quote. I continued to have a conversation with him through email and reserved his movers for Friday, December 2. He never asked me to sign a contract and when I asked how to confirm the reservation, he said that the email from him was all that I needed. He also provided me with his cell phone # to contact him at any time. His last email to me on November 21 said, "We're confirmed for December 2nd at 10am." I texted him on December 1 asking to confirm that we were all set for 10am the following day. He replied, "Hi. See you tomorrow at 10am." On December 2, both my wife and I took the day off of work. We were packed and ready for the movers to come. At 10am, they hadn't showed up. I figured they might be delayed due to traffic or something else. I finally reached out at 10:25am by text asking what time they'd be there and got no response. I called Diego's cell phone and the office phone listed on their website and both went to voicemail. I kept trying to call throughout the next few hours. Eventually the cell phone went from ringing several times before going to voicemail to going directly to voicemail. I texted and emailed him as well and got no reply. Eventually we realized they weren't coming and booked another company for Saturday, December 3. The biggest problem with that was that our apartment building doesn't allow for us to move on the weekend so I incurred a $500 fine for that. I also incurred a $500 fine for bulk garbage being put out on the wrong day since it can only be put out on Fridays. Add that to both my wife and I losing a day off of work and we're out a significant chunk of money. Worst of all, Diego has still not returned my call, text, or email. I'd love to recoup the money I lost, but I'm not even sure how to go about it since I've never been in this situation before. read more

Unless you want your furniture to be delivered damaged, I do not recommend this company. Initially I struggled to get them to come make an estimate of my items in order to even get a price quote, they cancelled twice, and that should have been my warning. Eventually they showed up, and everything seemed fine, I had packed all of my things in boxes already. When they started to move my furniture into my apartment, every single piece of furniture, some completely irreplaceable, was damaged. They ripped my leather couches, scratched huge chunks out of my wooden coffee table and every single one of my dressers. I've moved many times in my life, even overseas, and have never experienced anything quite like this. When I showed them the damages, the response was "well, no one told us, that you needed your furniture wrapped in blankets" um, excuse me? You're the movers, this is your job, shouldn't you know to wrap wood and leather furniture in blankets to protect it? I found boxes that I had marked "fragile" and "this side up" tipped over and smushed sideways against other boxes and icing on the cake several important and irreplaceable boxes with specialty items of mine are now missing. DO NOT TRUST THESE GUYS, they're careless, and when approached about damages do not care. I got the cold shoulder when attempting to locate missing boxes. Why give them two stars? Because they weren't rude, just awful. So if you're looking for incompetent but nice, be my guest, but if you want someone who will be gentle with your things, DO NOT GO WITH THESE GUYS.
