Beautiful venue for special occasions. It's my second time attending an event there. If you live in Manhattan, you will be glad to go to a venue in this location than those far out in LI. Valet parking available in front or self parking but there are also limited free street parking on the side. Food was decent but lacking the presentations. The only complaint I had was about the guy at the coat check who demanded $2 as I dropped my coat off. I told him I would pay him when I picked up my coat later. When I went back after the event, there was a lady trying to get her coat and she didn't have dollar bills. She asked the guy twice if she could pay with credit card so she could get her coat. Since I had $5, I was willing to pay for her share. I always thought tipping at coat check is voluntary. Never saw a guy like him who was so rude and demanded $$. read more

I think this is one of the prettiest banquet halls I've seen. Very large. When I entered I was asked which wedding hall I was in for, since there are multiple halls inside the place. Very high ceilings and there's projector screens surrounding the place. I tried asking for WiFi password but one of the waitresses never got back to me about my request. My friend hosted their wedding here. Terrible experience!!! Going into the Parking is a problem, cars blocked the road, can't get in. At the event, i ask the server if I could have two more glass. she get frustrate at me. "Why you need two more glasses, everyone got one already, you switch seats? .. then she roll her eyes and walk away. of course she never come back. Finally I find someone bring me some cups. apparently they are running out Glasses. so he brought me plastic cups. (can't complaint - but short in Glasses to serve the guest ?) btw because two of the glasses were dirty that's why I want a new one. I had years restaurant management experienced. i won't pick on a dirty glass, it happened when too busy. But this is not acceptable how to treat your guests. so I keep my eye on the floor. All other servers running restlessly to bus the tables, the person who refused to give me new glass, she is the lazy one among all. when everyone holding 5-6 plates on their hand. she only go to the tables closer to the back station. only hold 2 plates at a time. this is often to see when you have a layback one in the team. We really were interested in this venue after seeing the pictures online. It is a beautiful hall!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BUT... the banquet manager was so rude to us. He is ultimately the face of CUSTOMER SERVICE and disappointed us. He did not explain the package to us. We had to ask him questions and when we would ask he would reply and make us feel like an annoyance. The answers he also gave to us were abrupt and rude. Have done a few events at Da Mikele Illagio but nothing so personal as last night's - a nephew's "engagement party" - for about 80 people, just family. It was planned only a week ago and the result was just amazing. From the very beginning dealing with the staff here was very pleasant. Iliya (sp?) is a no nonsense guy. Indira, such a pleasant lady to plan event with. Kenny, just an amazing "show runner". This wedding venue holds a special place in my heart. My sister hosted her reception there and recently, a friend from church held hers there. When my sister and brother in law decided to use this venue, it was known as east buffet. It was your traditional Chinese banquet. There was a lazy susan on each table. There was waiters service. Recently, my friend hosted her wedding reception there. I was shocked to learn they renovated this place. The new manager added valet parking. Btw, I don't know about that idea. If you know that area, you know queens blvd is the busiest street with bumper to bumper cars. Hence, we waited for the valet to take our car and all I heard was angry drivers honking and screaming to hurry up. The food was amazing though. Also, the interior was breathtaking. All the arrangements that were made with us during contract signing was somehow forgotten by them and they gave us a really hard time and tried for charge us extra for things that we had already paid for. I. 17th Tapok 2019, hosted by Cagayan de Oro City-Misamis Oriental Assn of NY held last July 27, 2019 was of great success, because of our Grand Gala Night which was the barometer of the whole 3-day event duration. All my guests all over the world and specially our very own City Mayor Hon. Oscar Moreno, his councilmen and some department heads of the City Government were so impressed with our venue, all of them were in awe!!! The people at the valet seemed a bit intimidating. As if they want to take your money, your car and throw you into the river. As you enter. The Maitre D, is a MAJOR D! Looking at you with frustration and wanting to also take you out and throw you in the river. I felt more like we we're being ordered around then enjoying our stay there. I had my engagement party here on Aug. 23, 2014. I had a blast! The place is gorgeous! The staff were nice. The food was excellent! The rate per person was soooooooo worth it for the decor, food, and atmosphere. My fiancé and I loved the table setting and the food display. We had lots of food. We even have a sushi station! It was amazing! We only used one room in the first floor but the entire building is beautiful. The upstairs room can hold up to 800 people. I wanted to get that room but I only have 134 guests. Maybe for another big event then. Our guests were impressed by the decor, service, food and ambiance. We had an open bar for 4 hours. The drinks were great. I would probably prefer an experienced bar tender though because the "bar tender" we had doesn't even know how to make my favorite drink. But regardless, the majority got the drinks that they wanted. Because the place is fairly new, the only thing that I didn't like about the asst banquet manager/liaison is that he/she is still getting used to the new system. Every time I follow up with my engagement stuff, we were seen by 3 different people. Sometimes it was a little challenging connecting the dots with the little details we discussed on each person we saw. We dealt with the Manager, Ilya, who is great! Then we also dealt with Kate, Marcel and another nice lady who I can't remember her name. Regardless, they still treated my fiancé and I with professionalism and hospitality. This space is absolutely beautiful. However parking is a nightmare and management is poor. I've been to several weddings here and though the lighting is super pretty and the marble floors are luxe, the maitre ds are rude and unprofessional. Specifically Aziz, who approached my good friend on her wedding day demanding thousands of dollars as she sat on her wedding stage. Apparently, there were some uninvited guests and in order to seat them he demanded more money (fair to charge but there's a way to do this) or he threatened to cut the music and shut down the wedding. He later told the bride and groom not the mention this incident to his superior as it would cost them more fees from management -- but what he was actually doing was pocketing the extra cash. read more

I had my daughter's sweet 16 at Da Mikele Illagio on 9/25/2015 and there could not have been a more perfect venue! From the moment you walk through the doors of the lobby you are immediately rendered speechless at the beauty and luxury of the halls chandeliers, marble floors, lighting and of course the lit up staircase! I had found this hall by looking extensively online. I had researched at least 10 different halls in Queens and Brooklyn and they were just sub par not to mention they were very popular and I wanted something that would blow people away. This hall is a hidden gem in Queens ! Prices and packages are very wallet friendly and there is no cuisine they don't have ! I was assisted mostly by Antonio and Marcel who were amazing to work with and incredibly patient. I myself am a wedding planner and I value customer service more than anything so details were very important to me. The only minor things that occurred that are the reason for 4 not five stars are : 1- there was a very large wedding in the room upstairs and there was only one maitre de for both our party and theirs and I had to ask several times for the maitre de to come to our room to answer some questions 2- we had a buffet of delicious food but there was bread and butter on the table for guests upon arrival but no silver ware which my guests had to ask for. 3- my daughters head table was atop a lovely led lighted stage and also had a led lighted platform for her cake presentation. I had to remind the waiters to turn on the lights for the stage. And when the cake cutting commenced I was told the cake stand lights weren't working. But on the other hand: -the buffet was set up beyond my expectations with candles and platforms and overall gorgeous care in presentation. - their freelance photographer took photos of my guests and photos and frames were available for purchase as a keepsake. - this place is insanely clean and the staff is incredibly friendly and will try their best to accommodate your request - you are allowed to bring in your own vendors for table settings and dj and photography, etc. Overall I highly recommend this hall for your event. Words cannot describe the gratitude I feel towards Ilya and his incredible staff. I booked my wedding with him back in March before the shutdown and to my relief Ilya never failed me. Ilya worked with us every step of the way and made the entire wedding process a breeze. Even when they were forced to close doors last minute, Ilya found us a new venue and blew all our guests away with his menu and service. Every single guest was amazed by the beautiful tables and exquisite menu. Jaws literally dropped! From the get-go, Ilya was professional and a problem solver. Every issue or concern was handled momentarily. From his event coordinator, Indira, to the bridal assistant, Bracha, every single person made my wedding day special and effortless. Unfortunately the reception and racist rant I received from Antonio left me shocked and appalled. He did not want to event sit down with me to offer any information about the reception hall or inquire my wedding. He simply asked me for the date of the event and proceeded to inform me that I could not afford it because it would be $9000 for the date. He questioned how I got in and stated that he was leaving and walked me out of his office, then proceeded to continue his conversation with his next door coworkers. This establishment should not have someone like this on staff. Antonio does not and cannot know what I can or cannot afford. I did not even have a chance to convey anything, not even my name. The color of someone skin does not make the depth of their wallet. This establishment should better representation. This establishment should not tolerate racism under their roof !! read more

Had our corporate event there last night! I was hosting and planning it. Our event entailed a lot of details and a lots of nuances. I must say the owner Eli, the manager Antonio and supervisor Zaur were exceptionally accommodating and very professional. With all my concerns and requests before and on the day of the event were met with out a single hesitation. We spent lots of time together planing this 300 people event and everyone was very patient with me. We had a cocktail hour for an hour with sushi, shrimp and raw bar. Banquet food was delicious and service was great. Everyone loved the party, the location, interior of the place is absolutely gorgeous. This was by far one of the best holiday parties by far!!! They ran out of food and did not replace with more after just one tray for cocktail hour. During the reception, they gave us an option of Steak or Eggplant but then immediately said they were out of eggplant. The waiter then tossed our plates to us like Frisbee. The Steak was super dry and chewy. I guess the waiter was in a rush to use the photobooth! Yes, the waitstaff used the photobooth! I was definitely disgusted when my friend was trying to figure out why his coffee tasted funny to discover there was a lemon pit stuck to the bottom of his coffee cup. First I'd like to say that Yelp contacted me and informed me that my review was removed because it was not first hand experience, this is entirely inaccurate because I was the maid of honor at a wedding first hand experiencing the complete LACK of service and professionalism at this venue. The below was my original post: If I could give zero stars I would. I was the maid of honor at a wedding here and I usually do not write scathing reviews, but the horrible service here was ridiculous, it was like being in a Seinfeld episode. Here's the run down: - There were no staff at entrance directing guests to go anywhere, the guests were all over the place, so I had to have the bridal party herd them around like cattle. Once you walk in, there's just no one there, no signs, no people, it's like the place is a ghost town. - Staff did not set up the party favors and menu cards - we dropped these off in boxes the day before and when we got there, boxes were untouched and sitting in the bridal suite. It was previously agreed that they would set these up. So guess who ended up setting them up right before the ceremony - the bridal party and relatives. - Staff was not flexible on allowing party favors to be placed on the charger plate because the salads go on that - gave us the feeling that we were there to make the staff's life easy, not the other way around. Staff could simply move the favor when the salads came or I'm sure the guest would move it and not allow salad to be placed on top of the favor. - Not enough chairs/tables or food at cocktail hour - discussed with head server and he said he would look into it, but nothing was done. I'm guessing he was the head server since he was the only one with a phone head piece on, which brings me to... - There was no management team available to discuss these issues with the night of the wedding, we knocked on the sales office and manager door, no responses. - Staff was eating cocktail hour food in front of wedding guests - literally getting on buffet line, putting it on their plate and eating it. - Staff used photo booth along with wedding guests - we have pictures as evidence. - The cupcakes that were delivered were flipped upside down and ruined, the bridal party spent significant time to fix them using butter knives. Now we were never able to confirm whether the bakery delivered it this way, or if the staff actually flipped it upside down. We called the bakery about this as well and they were so embarrassed they refunded 100% of the cost. What did the venue do? Absolutely NOTHING. Only empty apologies and phones calls saying they will 'look into it'. - There were only two staff members that were helpful o Bridal Attendant - Reina o Server - I didn't catch the name, but he was the ONLY one helping us to fix the cupcakes. No one else bothered to do anything else except the absolute bare minimum. As the main person who was dealing with all these issues real time, I can say that the staff here were pretty unhelpful. In fact, most of them had trouble understanding what I was asking for and I had to repeat myself many times. I have plenty of patience for people who are learning English as their second language - I come from an immigrant family, but I would expect someone there who would be able to communicate effectively with the customer. I would not wish this wedding experience on my worst enemy. I'm really not sure where all the five star reviews came from because we had a completely different experience. I would speculate that either they had an entirely different staff or they have an existing relationship with the owners/management so they received good service, but we certainly did not. If you're going to spend the money on a wedding or any large event, don't spend it here. The chandeliers are pretty and the space is great, but everything else... not worth the drama, frustration, and disappointment on one of the most important days of your life. read more

After several months post my wedding I've processed the day out thoroughly and I'd like to inform future patrons on several issues we had with Da Mikele Illagio. Per multiple discussions via email and in person Antonio reassured me that my wedding would be a seamless event. This was not the case. Da Mikele Illagio failed to follow through on several items that he promised us. As the point of contact that I had communicated with throughout the process of planning, I hold Antonio fully accountable for everything that went wrong. I am highly dissatisfied with my experience, and totally insulted by the way things were handled that night. The following took place during the wedding reception, and five months later I still don't understand why. 1. Even after communicating the religious and cultural practices of my guest both to Antonio and the Da Mikele Illagio staff, they did not properly handle our food. The staff used the same carving knife on both the pork and the beef during my reception. Even when told on the spot this was an issue, the staff did not properly adjust, and continued to disrespect our guest. Both my father, and several guest asked the staff to stop. My father and brother had to speak to Aziz before the staff took heed to our request. This lead to over 50 guest opting out on dinner because the staff at Da Mikelle Illagio could not follow simple directions. 2. Several food items ran out, and could not be replenished. Despite guest opting out on dinner there were items on our menu that ran out. The salmon and calamari were two major ones. Antonio assured us that we would not have any issue with the quantity of food we would have available, this was absolutely not the case. Several guest that do not eat meat were unable to be accommodated because of this. Your staff had no way to accommodate our guest. They simply said once it's done that's it. As a catering hall accommodating 500 guest this is totally unacceptable. Especially, since atleast 80-100 guest didn't show up, there should have been no issue with the quantity of food available. Imagine the embarrassment, as well as the number of offended family members. 3. Food handling practices by Da Mikelle Illagio are unacceptable. I went to the kitchen to see what was going on with the food and observed one of the staff eating chicken wings out of a chafing tray that was for feeding my guest. It seems like this is the norm for your staff as no one said anything to her except me. I am completely baffled that the a staff would conduct themselves like this. How can your catering hall commit to kosher practices if basic sanitary practices can't be up kept? Patrons with special food handling request-- go to another venue. If you read this and choose this hall the negligence is on you! 4. We paid $3000 for desserts that were stale and inedible. Additionally, the cake that was promised and PAID did was nowhere to be found. Our guest weren't served any cake at all. I am still trying to understand how that is possible after talking about the cake and flavors in such depth. This is another way that this venue will rob you of your money-- that is what the Da Mikele brand truly represents. 5. Antonio was no where to be found. Antonio assured me he would be present on this day and he wasn't. He promised quality service and what we received was subpar. 6. Antonio, directly told myself, parents, and wedding coordinator on our final meeting that he would charge me $3000 cash off the books for the extra 2 hours. On the day of, I was asked to pay $6000 per the catering halls policy. That said, I did not receive a receipt of my payment to go hand in hand with whatever policy that was being followed. Another example of the illegal criminal activity that takes place there. Please be warned about this venue. I do believe that Antonio is racist based off of his interactions with my family and how I saw him interact with patrons of another event. People of color, and backgrounds outside of white, Russian, Albanian, and Jewish-- YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. Do not trust Antonio or anyone employed at this establishment. Anyone that works here has no ethical compass. This brand will not represent any dignified couple getting married. The Da Mikele brand will simply embarrass you, and leave you appalled with their poor services. read more

After numerous wedding and check ins, I can finally add my insight on this majestic hall. To start, the place is as big as a castle.. Well give or take a few extra acres of land. Newly renovated into this gorgeous and spacious location, Da Mikele Illagio has hit new record highs. Two ballrooms (Downstairs and Upstairs) can pack hundred of people in each floor. Long marble flooring inside and big Lion statues at the door makes this place feel very royal. They offer valet service, kind doorman and security. But my ultimate favorite are the two balconies which can be used for cocktail hour, wedding ceremony, or just to sit outside and have your drink with company. I've seen a wedding ceremony being preformed outside under a dark clear starry sky, truly made the wedding experience feel romantic. The food and caterer is a hit or miss although. I've had finger licking dining experiences, and then I've had night where I just stuck to the salads. So depending on your menu and if you keep on top of the caterer, you may come to some surprises. Partying here is a lot of fun and the place truly lights up with all the lights and flowers everywhere. Located just off the corner of a desolate stretch of Queens Boulevard (hard to believe) this relatively new place (and new building too) was alright. Attended a dinner dance here last night and found the food, from cocktail hour to the main course to be quite good. Service was attentive and responded quickly to my requests (more wine for the table, a pitcher of water, a replacement for a dropped knife, etcetera). My only complaint was that is was midnight and still no dessert or coffee, as the dinner dance was to go to 1:00am, and I was tired and ready to leave. Oh well. read more

My sister's event was here this weekend. it's a beautiful venue with horrible service. The Maître d' is rude they promise you things during initial contract signing and the night of your event all those promises go out the window. This place has a beautiful place.
