Where do I begin?
My Wife and I got married a little over a week ago. We utilized this business for my Wife's make-up/hair as well as the rest of the bridal party which included the Mothers of the bride and groom. Initially Joanne, our main contact and the person who assisted us throughout the process, was very professional and accommodating. This took a complete turn once the services were paid for, including tip. (We paid for every individual person to have their hair & make-up done) There was a total of 9 individuals: Bride, 6 bridesmaids, the Bride's mother and the Groom's mother.
On morning of the wedding, everything was seemingly going okay as the entire bridal party was getting their make-up done. However when the hair styling begun, things took a turn for the worst. One hairstylist was horrific; everyone she encountered, she treated terribly. (We do not know her name however a picture of her as been provided. ** Avoid at all costs **) One of the bridesmaids was scolded by the hairstylist for having washed her hair the morning of. While they did request for the party to come in with dry hair, and the bridesmaids should've listened to these instructions, she berated the bridesmaid. Throughout the process of doing her hair, she made her feel terribly for not following the specific instruction provided. Mind you, with the simple usage of a hair dryer this could've been resolved without the badgering of the client. As this is terrible, this was not the worst of it.
For some ethnic background, my mother is of Dominican descent and has rather thick hair. Prior to the day of the wedding we asked if her hair could be accommodated and we were ensured that they have years of experiences and have worked with various types of hair. However, on one of the biggest days of my mother's life, she was bullied by this hairstylist. She said some of the most disgusting things to my mother, pulled her hair at one point and mentioned that she couldn't continue with her. Mind you, my mother has very thick skin and I've never seen her cry outside of my wedding day. On what was supposed to be the best day of my life, I saw my mom break down in front of me because of the way she was treated and put down. As a result, the did not complete the services paid for as they did not do my mother's hair nor was anything communicated to anyone that this would not be completed. As a reminder, at this point, everything was paid for and tip was already give to all the artists.
Following the wedding day, since the venue's attendants witnessed this situation, our venue contacted them to disclose what occurred the morning of the wedding. (They beat us to reaching out to them however we appreciated that they were just as concerned as we were) Our contact, Joanne, reached out to us and her attitude with us completely changed from the nice professional woman we booked with. In a nutshell, she called us liars and noted that the hairstylist would've never said or done anything of the sort. What I'm not sure I understand is, if Joanne heard the story from multiple parties, on separate occasions, how could we be lying?! At the end of our conversation with her, she provided a backhanded apology: "Although I don't believe she would ever say or do anything like that, I'm sorry you feel this happened." What a ridiculous apology!
Definitely not a customer service oriented business.
