We had the most terrible experience with Ruban events and the lead designer Ruma. They agreed to do the decor for our wedding and accepted our cash deposit but then refused to send us a contract and ultimately told us they couldn't do the decor **a week before** our wedding. We asked Ruma several times to send us a contract because we wanted to make sure we were locked in and all the terms for clear. Ruma refused and kept claiming they were too busy to do so. I even tried asking for an ETA and she refused to give one. That was an immediate red flag to me. Their design portfolio is also very outdated and they are very inexperienced. When we tried to ask them for past examples of work they've done, they had no portfolio to show. Unfortunately Ruban events is inexperienced and incapable of working on large projects, which we learned the hard way since we had to scramble to find a decorator last minute. Their customer service is abysmal and they make false promises. For every married couple, I would avoid this decorator! read more

I was looking for a contract immediately but it wasn't sent until i requested it multiple times. One of the best decisions we made for my sister's wedding. Working with Ruma was such a bliss. She listens to your ideas patiently and incorporates them well in designing your dream wedding. Couldn't be happier with their work. It was very easy to reach out to her every time. We had a few meetings and discussions while finalizing everything and gladly on the day of our event the only thing we had to care about is looking great!! Everything else had been taken care of by her. As I walked into the ceremony room I was wonderfully surprised. Everything looked just as gorgeous as we imagined. We made a contract with them for the free different decors, Mehndi ceremony room, Nikkah room and reception room. Everything was just as amazing as it could be. Do not use this wedding service, they are unprofessional and only in it to gouge you of your money. You will find many better options where the value and professionalism of the service matters and your precious moments will actually be preserved. We got the package (stage, photography, videography) for $2800. I went through the contract and requested raw footage of the 5 hour event. All the standard videography packages include this option. After promising photos and video 6-8 weeks post the event, I had to keep texting and emailing the vendor and the photos and video were delayed considerably. During the event, the groom, the groom's father and groom's sister directed the photographer and vidoegrapher to who they should focus on and even specific moments. There are barely two photographs of the groom's mother. In a very cheap and unprofessional way the photographer took many photos of young ladies instead of the groom's family (we were sitting center at the event with a reserved sign on their table). One young lady contacted us after the event to let us know she felt uncomfortable because "the photographer kept following me." She is underage. With the photos being disappointing, we were at least hoping the video would be better. It got worse. The videographer took only 25 minutes of footage at the event. When I tried to contact Ruma and co., instead of respectfully understanding that this is unacceptable and refunding us for the completely fraudulent behavior they tried to state, "Well your wedding wasn't that exciting..." What in the world? A man, supposedly a professional, was paid to take video for 5 hours, he only took video for 25 minutes and again managed to avoid taking footage of the bride and groom's central table, their family or their several cute moments. The photographer managed to capture the bride and groom together in a bridal photoshoot but the videographer did not even do that. The edited video is basically the 25 minuted video slowed down with randomly thrown in songs. You will get better photos and videos from a 14 year old with an iPhone. We are now forced to ask family and friends for their photos and videos of our event while having spend $2000 on photography and videography. If a guy was paid $1000 to take five hour footage of a fish tank, he would take that 5 hour video. Here they did not do their job and ate a free meal at our expense. This business is reprehensible and have been reported to the Better Business Bureau. Over the next few weeks, I and family members will be reviewing them on every venue possible because we don't want anyone's beautiful life moments to be trashed by arrogant, venal and greedy service. read more

AVOID at ALL costs unless your budget is tight! unfortunately, we didnt have enough of a budget to go with anyone else so we settled with ruban events. TLDR; Unprofessional and stress inducing and hard to reach. I have given all my other vendors 4-5 stars Everything you hear from a wedding nightmare came true. 1. From the moment I made an appointment with them to sit down it was super disorganized, and no one picked up during their work hours. When we finally arrived at our appointment time and destinations, they were extremely unprofessional. They were seeing another potential client and all she did was rant, how she didnt need business from people like them (previous clients) because they were difficult. Then proceeded to take a phone call in the middle of the consultation because they were at an event the day of and did not have their insurance information straight and she blamed the couple and not their company for their lack of knowledge and diligence. (we ignored that red flag) 2. It took us over 2-3 months to finalize a contract. Now we had 1 more month left before my wedding. 3. The whole month before i had asked them to send over their insurance info to our vendor and they had lies from, "our insurance info is being transferred" "we sent it over already" "we didnt see that email" "we are very busy" (honestly all our vendors were very busy, even bigger companies and they never used that as an excuse) ... It went on and I had to call them every week to find out just to be told not to worry and that worrying wouldn't do anything... 4. They had their insurance information sent over the day before my wedding!!!!! What a nightmare!! I was pretty stress free during my whole wedding planning but they were the only ones that really stressed me out with their untimely manner and unprofessionalism... 5. Their backdrop they made came out exactly like i had asked them, although they forgot one little detail.. Had they not fit our budget we would never recommend them or use them for any future events... we spent $1700 for a backdrop and it was not worth it... read more

The service and professionalism is truly terrible. This wedding vendor offers packages but it seems like the only thing they can do well is the stage decor and try to scam you out of your money by using amateur photographer]videographers. At the wedding the incorrect stage decor was brought but changed (in about 20 minutes time) to the correct one. It went downhill from there. The photographer and videographer were terrible. They did not listen to the clients instructions at all and seemed bored (standing at the wall instead of doing their jobs). The wedding photos from the event are not great but acceptable. The video is a train wreck. It is barely 25 minutes taken of a 5 hour event. The "edited" video is basically those 25 minutes with randomly thrown songs over it. The videographer spent more time on their logo than actually editing the video which doesn't include the couple's names, the date of the event and uses cheap 80s style transitions. Even thought Ruma, Fathema and Saif used terrible amateurs for this service they did not have the decency to apologize or address the clients fair and valid points (or how the contract was breached). Instead they tried to attack the client. This is unacceptable and why I recommend you use a different vendor for any wedding services. Preferably use one that takes credit card because your bank will fight against fraudulent practices (and why this vendor only takes cash or check, suspicious in this day and age). read more

Find a different wedding package vendor for your own sanity and happiness. There are several good wedding service providers in Queens and the LI area. This is not one of them. This vendor (Ruma in particular) is pushy, aggressive, and rude. They treat your wedding\event as if they are doing you a HUGE favor by taking you on a client. The pricing and contract seems to vary greatly and the only thing they provide in-house is the stage\decorations (everything else they subcontract out to whoever is available at the lowest price). The sad thing is that the stage\decorations, photos, and video should be the most hassle-free part of your event. You expect issues with your clothes fitting or the food or last minute additional guess. Yet, because of our experience with this service everything was nice at our wedding (the hall, food, clothes, guests accommodation) EXCEPT the services provided by Ruban Events which were really atrocious. If you need better recommendations, ask someone who's wedding you've been to recently or shop around. read more

If I could give Ruma Apu & her team 10 stars, I would. We had our wedding in 2019 and after searching for a long time for a decorator, we found Ruban Events. Ruma Apu was actually the second decorator we sat down with. Our first meeting with the other decorator was nice but the reason we picked Ruban Events is because Ruma Apu is a creator. We went to her with a notebook full of ideas and inspiration photos, she took our notes and sketched up our vision right then and there. She gave us her own thoughts and ideas of what she thought would look best and instead of our meeting feeling like a business meeting, it felt like a team working together to make sure our holud night and reception were everything we dreamt of. Working with her was honestly one of my most favorite aspects of wedding planning. I'm a perfectionist and Ruma Apu understood that- she let us run with our ideas but let us know if something would work better. Our holud night was one to remember thanks to Ruban Events. We didn't want typical decor, and Ruma Apu brought our unique dream to life. Our parents and families were so thrilled with the final results when they walked into the venue that night. Our reception was more simple and classy, and despite difficulties of timing and issues with the venue, Ruma Apu and her team were able to successfully get everything set up that night according to our ideas. We initially met Saif who was very personable and then we had to speak with the manager Aman who took her time to go over all the details and even to make an itinerary. Working with Ruban Events was by far the best decision I could have made when it came to wedding planning!! This is a lengthy review but I hope it is helpful to future brides and grooms. It's easy to feel overwhelmed about stages and décor but Ruban Events made the process simple and stress-free. You can go to them knowing everything you want for your wedding or with having no idea at all, and they will be accommodating. They sat with me on multiple occasions to hash out details for stages and centerpieces, making sure I got what I wanted within my desired budget. Everyone will appreciate how honest and straightforward they are with their pricing. Depending on your budget, you can mix and match just about anything. Whether you want a stage with drapes, florals, candles, structural pieces, or all of the above - they have something for everyone. They also have a variety of centerpiece options - most of which can be customized according to your theme, too. I also have to point out that their customer service is amazing! The Ruban Events team always made themselves available via text, phone, email, and in person. On my Mehndi and Wedding days, they sent me pictures of my completed stages and kept me updated on what was going on in the venue. This was something I had not even asked them to do but was very much appreciated! On one of the days, I noticed and pointed out that something was missing on my stage after they had already set it up. I told them that it still looked great and I didn't mind leaving it this way, but they went back to their warehouse to pick up the missing piece and perfect the stage for me - all before the guests arrived! My husband and I got married in our backyard in the Bronx during COVID this year (July 2020). They did a phenomenal job!!! Somehow they made our concrete backyard look like it was a hall with a backdrop, stage and seating. The workers who helped were so kind and thoughtful despite it being one of the hottest days of the year. We were able to get everything set up within a 3 week notice. I really recommend them for all occasions. Noticed some bad reviews about pricing and I think it's important to understand that this business does more than just decorations. They take care of set up (which can take up to a couple of hours depending on your event) which includes stage, tables, chairs, and they even put down a carpet to cover our concrete floor. Other day, i went to get a estimate for wedding decorations. We checked out few designs for the stage and backdrops and liked few. Girl gave us good price and as we were talking to accept her offer. Someone (supposedly Ruma's husband) called the office and told her they would not accept any offer under $2000. The girl initially told us the price would be $1300 for the 2 stages we wanted. It went up to $2000 from the initial price. I was very disappointed and surprised by their behavior. Their excuse was it was a busy season.
