Weighing the pros and cons of eating fish from a hot Hawaiian hut versus not eating a full meal after hiking the Pipiwai Trail with a heavy baby in tow, we opted for the former and definitely didn't regret it. 4:00pm is a magic hour in Hana where everything is beautiful but everything is closed. No Braddah Hutt, no Pranees, and we were too dirty for the Travaasa. Da Fish was clutch in vanquishing our post-hike hangries, and was quite delicious. The fish is fresh, and so tender and flavorful in the fish burger, which I inhaled in a matter of minutes. The fish tacos were also superb. Service was fast and efficient which was appreciated by our hungry bunch. Excellent addition to the burgeoning Hana food scene! read more

After the super long drive to Hana, we arrived at Hana at around 3pm and left with limited food options as a lot of places were either closed or not open for the day. Luckily we found this food truck and left with full stomachs as the portions were very large and very filling. We ordered the crispy fish sandwich and shrimp and chips, and both costed around $14, which was a very reasonable price. Both dishes came with fries, ketchup, and tartar sauce. Of the two, I enjoyed the fish and chips more, but, if you can't eat a lot, it can definitely be a meal for two. Overall, clean food truck with good food! read more

Glad we stopped here! We were hoping to catch the other food place in this little cubby hole area on the side on the Hana highway. Hubby and I knew that we needed to fuel up if we were going to take this road all the way around Haleakala and then on to Kihei . ( I forget the name of the other place--but it had a male name in it like ---'s plate). We kept seeing the signs for " --'s plate" but when we pulled over, it was closed for the day. It was a Sunday. I ordered a Baja fish taco, which I thought would be grilled, and a coconut shrimp taco. We tried the Seared Fish Plate, they had 2 fresh fish, Mahi Mahi & Ono, served with rice & green beans. My husband & I got one of each. Without even asking they split them for us so we could try them both. The Mahi-Mahi has a teriyaki glaze on it while the ono was topped with a pineapple salsa. Both were delicious but the Mahi-Mahi was amazing. The glaze enhanced the taste of the fish without being too overpowering. Preface: Hana is out in the country side of the island. Your food choices are few and far between. The local grocery stores are pricey and limited in what they have. The restaurants are super expensive and the quality isn't great. Hours and days of operations for food trucks vary so if you see one you may want to go to later, stop by and ask. Yelp info on hours and days open are wrong. That being said, the food trucks are the best food sources in Hana and this particular one in my opinion is the best. Fresh daily caught Ahi, Mahi Mahi, Opah, etc and the portions are enough for two. This place and Hana Fresh at the Health Center are my two best picks in Hana. Everything is fresh, organic, nothing greasy. I would eat at these places three meals per day if given the option. There are other ok food trucks with Mexican and Thai food but I can get that on the mainland. When in Rome, eat what the Romans eat. read more

There are also Port of Potties here as well (need to use basis, but not as crowded as the few restrooms during the whole road). Anyways, the shrimp was very very good!
