The price was very reasonable, service was great and everyone was very friendly even though not all of the local staff spoke English. Definitely a great find and a high recommendation!

Had lunch at La Terrazza on a sunny crispy afternoon during the workweek…read more I already have reviews for most places I frequent here in Aurelia. It seems as though I had to expand on this one. Typical Italian meal, meat and pasta, lots of carbs, gnocchi-calzone-panini-macaroni, plus tons of desserts. Desserts at La Terrazza are really good. La Terrazza offers a rooftop terrace seating with gorgeous views of the country side. This is the type of place in the business park, within walking distance from Mariott, where many offices are located. People go to lunch here, it's a sort of a cafeteria style setting in terms of the presentation of food. Not your typical trattoria style. Great assortment of antipasti (cold appetizers), including sautéed veggies, artichokes, eggplant, roasted zucchini, red bell papers, carpaccio, prosciutto, soppressata, fresh mozzarella nuggets drizzled with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Beef stew, meat loaf, steamed seasoned potatoes, pasta shells, sautéed green beans, octopus with macaroni. I called them that, they may have proper Italian names attached, I just didn't care to go deep today, nor did I have time for that. Fabulous selection of pastries and desserts downstairs, including Sfogliatelle, Sanguinaccio dolce, Semifreddo, Zeppole, Canoli, Panna Cotta, Tartufo, and fruit compote. Advertised pizzas include the following: Pizza con Forno a Legna, anche Integrale - pizzas cooked in the wood burning oven, and also plate combos (complete meal): Ortolana - garden veggie pizza Margherita - traditional wood fired oven pizza Patate - Pizza di Patate with potatoes Boscaiola (Mozzarella, Funghi, Salsiccia) - mozzarella cheese, mushrooms, sausage Amatriciana (Pomodoro, Guanciale, Pecorino) - tomatoes, cured meat from pork cheeks, pecorino cheese

Ristorante Verde Smeraldo certainly has one thing going for it: it's open late, though I believe…read moreuntil 11pm and not until midnight. That's a huge plus considering the crazy schedule of working professionals like myself, staying at any one of the area hotels on business, often for extended periods of time. If it wasn't for places like Verde Smeraldo, we'd be forced to go to bed on an empty stomach or replace dinner with booze. Verde Smeraldo complex has a pizzeria, bisteccheria (steakhouse), discoteca (a discotheque) and music bar, and a swimming pool (picsina). Businessmen from the surrounding offices frequent this restaurant for their group outings, lunches and dinners. I believe the entire place is called Parco de' Medici Club and can be booked for private and business functions. They use a wood fired pizza oven for their pizza, which turns out absolutely great and certainly way better than that at That's Amore pizzeria. It turns into a steakhouse in the evenings, and so grilled juicy stakes are also available. I've said it once and I'll say it again, it really surprised me to learn how much carbs are consumed in Italy, and how much Italian cuisine is based on pasta, breads, panini, gnocchi, prosciutto and other cured salty meats (loaded with sodium), and how little there is in a gluten free vegetable and fruit variety. Perhaps downing it all with red wine makes a difference, but locals survive here, and so should I. Verde Smeraldo is located in Aurelia near the Parco de' Medici complex of scattered business buildings, area hotels, Parco de' Medici Sporting Club, Sheraton Golf course, Space Cinema entertainment complex and Joy Village arcade. If you're staying at Rome Marriott Park hotel or Holiday Inn, I highly recommend to check out Verde Smeraldo and their wood oven baked pizzas. You can book a table here through Misiedo, an Italian equivalent of the American Open Table.

The soplí were OK. The roasted potatoes were also cold and had to be sent back. We finished our dinner before we ever saw the potatoes again. My risotto frutti di mare was just so so. Worst of all was the service. The waiter was busy talking with his coworker and watching TV and couldn't care less about the customers. We went here to avoid paying $$$ at the Holiday Inn restaurant. We should have paid a little more and eaten there instead.

We were not sure what to expect on our first visit but we surely left the place after eating all our food. The Aglio, Olio, Pepperoncino spaghetti and ox tail soups were great. It was indeed a pleasure dining in this restaurant and we will definitely be back the next time we visit Rome.

This is a real local trattoria type of place, quite cozy, certainly less touristy, a quiet and comfortable restaurant frequented by locals. If you want to experience real Italian homemade cooking, this is where you come. We were greeted and seated right away. Aglio Orio e Peperoncino not only sounds romantic, it has also very much welcoming ambience inside, with friendly and efficient service. Wall decor includes large photos of famous Italian cinema icons like Anna Magnani, Monica Vitti, Alberto Sordi, and Marcello Mastroianni. I've got a vague understanding of their menu and gathered that your dinner options here vary greatly depending on the alignment of many factors, owner's creativity included. Just like home, already! -:) If available, you have to order Ossobuco here. It's braised veal shanks mixed with veggies and sautéed in white wine (in Bianco) or with tomatoes and carrots (which turns out a completely different dish, in my humble opinion). We had white version and loved it. It's hearty and delicious! I've got no photos because of the connectivity issues and discharged phone battery, as I also use my phone for work and conference meetings, sorry - maybe next time.
