At the Holiday Inn property, there's an Italian restaurant La Serra, offering a traditional yet continental menu. Being located at a hotel, most dishes are rather expensive, this is no surprise. Everything is served à la carte, so you better factor in all the different components of your plate into one pricey but really rather ordinary dinner.
For extraordinary, it's best to visit a standalone restaurant in Rome specializing in authentic Roman cuisine. Check out my other Italian reviews. I've been staying in the area for several weeks at a time on business, multiple times, over a year and a half period thus far.
Ristorante La Serra overview. For appetizers (antipasti / hors d'oeuvres), you can enjoy tuna tartare or raw amberjack saltwater fish for €18. For a few euros more, a small order of lobster salad carrying a €24 price tag may strike your fancy. Some other more sensible options include eggplant with tomato-basil sauce or tomato mozzarella bruschetta for €10, assorted Italian salami and cheeses for €13, and of course burrata cheese, in compote of red onions, for €16.50.
Next, one can enjoy a bowl of vegetable soup €10, a risotto with asparagus, saffron, and robiola cheese €14, or a variety of pastas with different cheeses, like spaghetti with zucchini and provolone €13, spaghetti with clams and bottarga €16, cavatelli with chicory squids and pecorino €14, or tonnarelli (egg noodles) with porcini mushrooms €15.
Traditional Italian pasta dishes are also available. Choose a simple spaghetti aglio, olio e peperoncino (garlic, olive oil, red chili pepper sauce) €10 or any one of the following €12 pastas: tonnarelli with pecorino, rigatoni with pecorino tomato-bacon sauce, maccheroni with pecorino and bacon, or spaghetti with egg and bacon. That is, of course, if carbs is your thing.
For your main course, your least expensive options include a hamburger or grilled chicken breast for €14. Keep in mind, this is not served with a side nor does it include a salad or soup. You gonna want to add your pasta if you pick a chicken breast.
Beef sirloin or veal chop are €18, again, no sides are served. Beef fillet €24. Grilled sea bass, sea bream, or prawns are €20. Pork belly confit €16, duck breast with honey, ginger spinach and potatoes €20, grilled octopus or sliced tuna with baked veggies €18.
For the party of two, get baked fish with potatoes to share for €50.
Pick your sides: €6 veggies (sautéed, steamed, or baked), roasted potatoes, or a salad - Caesar, Niçoise, mozzarella /tomatoes €10.
Finish your dinner with any one of these dolci €8 desserts: sherbet, ice cream with strawberries, cheesecake, tiramisu, or sliced fruit (in season). read more
