We were not sure what to expect on our first visit but we surely left the place after eating all our food. The Aglio, Olio, Pepperoncino spaghetti and ox tail soups were great. The garlic was well infused in their dish as well. The owner, Roberto was very gracious as well as the waitress that helped us. It was indeed a pleasure dining in this restaurant and we will definitely be back the next time we visit Rome.

This is a real local trattoria type of place, quite cozy, certainly less touristy, a quiet and comfortable restaurant frequented by locals. If you want to experience real Italian homemade cooking, this is where you come. We were greeted and seated right away. Aglio Orio e Peperoncino not only sounds romantic, it has also very much welcoming ambience inside, with friendly and efficient service. Wall decor includes large photos of famous Italian cinema icons like Anna Magnani, Monica Vitti, Alberto Sordi, and Marcello Mastroianni. I've got a vague understanding of their menu and gathered that your dinner options here vary greatly depending on the alignment of many factors, owner's creativity included. Just like home, already! -:) If available, you have to order Ossobuco here. It's braised veal shanks mixed with veggies and sautéed in white wine (in Bianco) or with tomatoes and carrots (which turns out a completely different dish, in my humble opinion). We had white version and loved it. It's hearty and delicious! I've got no photos because of the connectivity issues and discharged phone battery, as I also use my phone for work and conference meetings, sorry - maybe next time.

Please please please do yourself a favor and order the oxtail pasta (not sure of the name on the menu) but it was delicious. It was also served with an abundance of oxtail. They did not skimp on the portion size. All of their pasta is fresh made and rolled in the restaurant. We also fell in love with the orange soda that was served. We have been on the hunt for it since our return.

Very Disappointing Experience - Osteria da Fortunata, Pantheon Location…read more We have visited Rome several times and have eaten at Osteria da Fortunata della Cancelleria on Via della Cancelleria. During our previous visits, we had excellent experiences with both the food and the customer service, which is why tonight's experience was especially disappointing. We ordered the carbonara and spaghetti, and unfortunately, the pasta was undercooked, very chewy, and cold. It was not at all the quality we had experienced during our previous visits. When we asked the waiter to take the carbonara back because it was not edible, his attitude was extremely disappointing. Rather than offering to replace the dish or addressing our concern professionally, he told us that the manager had approved it and that we could simply take the food home. What made the experience even worse was the atmosphere of this location. The restaurant felt more like a factory than an authentic Italian dining experience. We noticed the staff using walkie-talkies to communicate with the host, and as soon as customers left their tables, the waiter would communicate with the host to immediately send new customers in to fill the space. It gave us the impression that the priority was turning tables over as quickly as possible rather than providing guests with a pleasant dining experience. The constant rush was noticeable and took away from what should have been an enjoyable meal in Rome. It is very unfortunate because we have visited Osteria da Fortunata several times in the past and genuinely enjoyed both the food and the service. Tonight, however, the cold and poorly cooked pasta, the attitude of the waiter, and the rushed, factory-like atmosphere made this a very disappointing experience.
