The oldest restaurant known for their carbonara. I got the classic carbonara and it was really delicious! It was cheesy, but not too overwhelming. My friend got the egg pasta with tuna and even though it sounds strange, it unexpectedly worked together! Also, free wifi, so that's a plus! read more

We had a lovely lunch sitting outdoors. The view is picturesque and peaceful. The service was impeccable and friendly...the cacio pepe gnocchi were absolutely delicious, as were the eggplants and the fettuccine al ragu. It's a bit pricier than some of the other restaurants we visited on our trip, but it was a lovely meal and a great place to stop near the Forum/Colosseum, where so many places are tourist traps. The portions look smaller but the food is very rich and we were too full to sample dessert (a pity as many other reviews mention how good their desserts are!) we would definitely come again. read more

Oh wow! If you are in Rome you HAVE to try this place! We can on our first night. We noticed this restaurant right by the place we were staying. We saw all the delicious pictures and had to try. Everything was amazing. Cute place with a Hollywood theme. Our server was super nice and very attentive. I did not get the picture of the meatballs because I was too excited. They had a tomato sauce AND a Parmesan and pepper sauce. Amazing. Then came the pasta. Y'all I wish I had another stomach because it was so creamy and just enough truffle. After that we had the affogato. If you haven't had one, this is the place to try it! Espresso with a chocolate and orange gelato. SO good. The owner came to say hello and offered some lemonchello. I'm posting this review on all the travel/recommendation sites, and I rarely review things - but InRoma was just so good, I want to help other people like me find it! Staying near the Forum and exhausted from the umpty-billionth day of walking all over Rome, we just wanted a close-by restaurant. We didn't expect to find an absolutely stellar restaurant a few blocks from our rental. Stop flipping through TripAdvisor or Yelp, don't bother Googling - just go to InRoma. The food was incredibly tasty (ravioli carbonara, saffron carbonara, and fried meatballs). The service was flat-out amazing (our very kind waitress and the chef provided us with a small appetizer AND small dessert, complimentary, as part of our meal, AND brought a tasting portion of our food for the other person - no more, "Honey, can I taste your dish?" The chef came out twice, and again to say goodbye. Also, very reasonably priced for Rome!! I can't say enough good about InRoma. We'll probably be back in a day or two, honestly...it's that kind of place. :) read more

They specialize in carbonara, so I ordered a plate of the classic carbonara with pork cheeks. There was a generous amount of pecorino cheese, so it was quite poignant. My girlfriend ordered fettuccine with scampi and pesto sauce. I liked her dish a little more. It seemed like a mom and pop business. The staff was very friendly. They even played a small prank on us. They brought out small portions and told us they were the main portions, but then they brought out the regular portion after. The small portion was meant for us to taste our partner's dish. This is one of the coolest places I have seen in Rome. We were walking with my girlfriend and accidentally found this place. I asked her if she wants to stop here for lunch, and after she agreed, we were welcomed by the hostess and I was amazed how cool this place was. The location is just perfect, you won't find many tourists around and it's really quiet. The staff was nice and very polite. The interior looks like the old movie from 20s with picture of Audrey Hepburn everywhere. The food was delicious and as a Italian place with had here Spaghetti . Super find within a short walk of Santa Maria church and site of "the Mouth of Truth". Read the reviews on Yelp and gave this a try - what a wonderful surprise! The restaurant has some outdoor seating, but the indoor seating really shines. Many pictures of movie stars that have fines there adorn the walls, but in a tasteful way. Speaking of tasteful, the food is the real star here! We split a number of dishes and loved them all. Some of the best during our trip. Especially the smoked mozzarella, the fettuccine with black Summer truffles, but best of all was the tiramisu! It was huge and the best we had during our 2 weeks in Italy. Add the fantastic, friendly service and you have a must try when visiting Rome. They even called us a taxi when we left so we didn't have to wander aimlessly and baking in the hot sun. This was one of our first stops on the food train, as it was right behind our hotel (FourtySeven.com - read my review). Deciphered a few Italian reviews, and away we went. Absolutely charming place, apparently been around forever based on pictures of celebs at/in front of the place. Complete restaurant is cinema themed, but not like us Americans would (Planet Hollywood). Food was outstanding. Just get used to the fact that dinner will take 2 hrs, you went on the diet so you could eat like a pig here, and the house wine at most places is really good. Dinner ran ~$120 euros (for two), but remember the service charge is included. I must say - I do love the scheme the Italians do with the bread basket (Pane). $2-3 euros per person for bread that you typically don't ask for. Just consider it part of the service charge - just not worth fighting over and the bread is typically fantastic. read more

Sick of mediocre pizza, we found this place for lunch fairly close to the forum (10 minute walk). There are two large terraces that are elevated over a small street with plenty of people watching. Service was good, food was also good. I had a plate of carbonara pasta, which was quite nice. The lady had a tasty salad. Apparently the people who run the restaurant are big cinema fans. We came here for our last meal in Rome. Service was good, not slow like other places in Rome. I ordered the fettuccine with pesto and prawns, but they were out of prawns and replaced it with king shrimps. I would recommend the fettuccine. My husband ordered the ravioli with codfish it was a bit salty, so we wouldn't recommend codfish if you don't like salty food. The tiramisu with orange is a bit different. I would go with a classic tiramisu instead. This location has terrace seating and is near the colosseum area. read more

This service was terrible! They brought the wrong wine, had to ask for ice(everything in Italy is served room temp) She messed up the order, the pasta was good but very heavy. My husband got his meal, she thought I said I would pay the bill instead of I will have the veal, therefore it came 20 minutes later. She totally forgot my granddaughter's meal!!! That came 45 minutes after my hubby FINISHED!! A total mess!! I would not recommend this place at all!!! read more

I like this place so much, I came back for more. Get anything with smoked mozzarella. I had pasta with marinara and smoke mozzarella, it was the best thing I had the entire time I was in Rome. Can't wait to go back to the states and try and figure out how to make it! Also, the tiramisu with orange was to die for and a lemon cello is the best I ever had. Last but certainly not least, this is the only place in Rome that actually had a cat. I have heard my whole life about the cats a Rome and was disappointed to find none. Fantastic. We were visiting Rome from Washington DC and stopped by this restaurant as it was only a 2 minute walk from our hotel. First off, we didn't realize they opened at 7pm for dinner service and we arrived to the restaurant at about 6:45pm. Instead of making us wait, they sat us right away and took our order. The server was very conversational with us and super friendly. I got the fettuccine Classico which is the freshest fettuccine you will ever have mixed in butter and Parmesan cheese. Doesn't sound very tasteful but it was sooo good and the server taught us how to toss our pasta like the Italians do. The decor is very old cinema like out of the movie Casablanca. InRoma was probably one of my favorite meals throughout our 7-day trip. I had the famous pasta alla carbonara (gluten-free), and I wanted to order a second one right afterward (my stomach unfortunately couldn't commit to this). My partner got fettuccine alfredo and liked it as well. Service was fabulous - we had a wonderful waitress and wine specialist (maybe this was the owner or bartender) who patiently helped us pick a bottle of wine. We finally satisfied our chocolate craving in Rome with a chocolate mousse dessert. Not sure what it was called, but it was a packed two-layer chocolate mousse style dessert with a hint of coffee to it. We also got a small plate of each other's meals to try, a sample of their in-house dark chocolate brownie-like dessert, and complimentary limoncello to end the meal. They also graciously let us take our bottle of wine with us, as we were struggling by the end to put anything else in our stomachs. Thank you to InRoma for a great last night in Rome! read more

Very mediocre restaurant, given a 2 stars instead of 3 because of the incompetent service. To start with, the setting looks nice, so we were eager to begin with. But thanks to the waiter, things quickly went downhill. No one else in our dining section and yet the service was lacking. The Asian waiter hardly understood Italian nor English. We had to request items several times and he would still get it wrong. They were out of several items that we ordered, some we were only told about 20 minutes after ordering them. One item ordered never came out at all (but also didn't show up on the bill, so it was apparently completely forgotten). The food itself varied from "meh" to "gross". Then, when we went to pay the bill and asked the waiter to split the bill, he got flustered and went to get the manager, who told us that if we wanted to split the bill, it would be 50/50. When we explained that we wanted it split 53 Euros and 84 Euros he refused. Weird. read more

While waiting for my food waiter have us some wine to try was very helping explaining the city around us. When I got my food they had given us a feee desert and the portions of each plate were a fair amount per Rome standards ask the food was very tasty and delicious. Great location, excellent service...InRoma deserves the great reviews and ratings it is getting. We had dinner on the terrace and had no trouble getting a table for two without a reservation on saturday evening, although the outside area did fill up quickly after 9 pm. There was also plenty of seating inside in a great setting but the weather was too nice to dine indoors. Food was excellent and the wine list was also very good. Highly recommended. read more

My wife and I had just arrived in Rome and were staying nearby. It was in April and we were on our honeymoon. We took a walk after checking into Hotel Kolbe and discovered this place. A beautiful black and white poster of Audrey Hepburn greeted us as we walked up to the restaurant. A well maintained 1960's red convertible mustang with a white stripe sat just outside. We were sat immediately and served a delicious Italian meal with a bottle of 2006 Chianti Classico Campacci. After an excellent meal and dessert we mentioned to the owner that we were on the first night of our honeymoon. On the way out the door she handed us another bottle of the same wine we were drinking as a gift. We have kept that bottle and plan to return to InRoma in the near future to finally open it. We will always have fond memories of InRoma, the food was excellent and the service was wonderful. I cannot recommend InRoma high enough. Grazie, InRoma! read more
