I was very impressed by the knowledge of the employees I met, especially Shane who worked on my computer and Daniel who walked me through the problem and bill. There were a couple of other employees who also were very informative but I have forgotten their names.
My Toshiba laptop started having closing problems at the hinge, so before calling DA Computers, I read reviews of my Toshiba and found it's a pretty common problem and some people have used epoxy glue successfully or needed a new bottom part from the Toshiba. I was extremely nervous to let my computer go as I had a great deal of work on it, but backed up my data and knew it had to be fixed.
I called DA and then brought my computer in on Friday afternoon, I was charged $35 for a diagnostics to determine the problem. On Saturday, I was called and Daniel said they found the hinge was okay but the plastic where the hinge and screw go in was totally broken so either they could try the epoxy knowing that if I opened and closed the computer a lot it would probably break again or they could replace the bottom base (which ordered from Toshiba would be over $100). I told him I don't really need to close my laptop as I use it at home so let's try the epoxy first. I picked up my computer today on Sunday and it's great.
Here's the major pluses I found at DA Computers:
- my computer was repaired within 3 days and works great
- I never had to call them, they called me within a day as they stated
- the staff was very knowledgeable
- great customer service, everyone was pleasant and super informative
- when Shane brought out my computer today he actually had a picture of what my computer looked like inside and the part he needed to fix and he was able to show me what he had done.
- the total cost to repair was $125 but they took off the $30 diagnostic charge so I paid $95 to pick up.
- when Daniel called to tell me about the choices he did not try to hard sell me to buy the bottom base. I actually asked him what I should do and he was very unbiased at giving me the options.
- Daniel wrote on my invoice that if the epoxy did not hold up and they have to order a base, I would not be recharged a new repair it fee. It would just be for the part.
- they are open on Saturday and Sunday
Here's the cherry on top:
- when I came in to pick up my computer, I brought in a different laptop to find out how to turn off the tapping aspect on the touch pad. When typing a lot if my hand accidently touched the touch pad, the cursor would jump to another place. Shane walked me through how to turn it off on the spot and fixed my computer and the one I brought in - within 10 minutes.
I wanted to write an indepth review as I had read the negative reviews and really wanted to share that I felt good when I first met the guys at DA computers and glad I took a chance - it is now my go to computer repair shop. Oh, I also appreciate being referred to them by Desert Cow Computers, who doesn't do hardware computer repairs.
Keep it up DA Computers and a big thank you! read more
