Looks like I am the only one that doesn't love Desert Cow Computers. I had a virus that MalWare bytes couldn't fix. I checked around and noticed all the great comments from Desert Cow customers, so I called them. At first Service seemed great, they make house calls. When the tech arrived I mentioned that before the virus my PC had been getting slower and slower over the last few months. I asked him about installing more memory and He said I had plenty of memory. He noticed I had MalWare bytes, System Mechanic, and another software that was suppose to speed up the PC. He recommended I get rid of all and go with Norton. He mentioned that a solid state hard drive would make my system faster. So I agreed that he install a new drive, get rid of the viruses and all Malware and anti-virus software and Install Norton. It took 7 days to get my PC back (One of those days was a holiday, but 6 days is still a long time). After it was delivered and setup the PC started up so fast. It took just a few seconds to boot up. For a few seconds I was excited, then I was told I would have to re-install all my software. It took me a few hours every day for a week to get all my software re-installed and files moved to where they should be. The solid state drive is great for booting up my PC. It doesn't help when I am moving files, or installing new software. The problem is that my old drive was a Terabyte and it was replaced with a solid state drive that is 1/4 the size. The new drive doesn't hold all my data so most of my data is still on my old slower drive. I don't remember if the size of the drive had been discussed. I just assumed it would be replaced with a drive of the same size, or larger. If it had understood that I was getting a much smaller drive I would never have agreed to replacing it. Even after all this happened I wasn't going to write this. But a few weeks ago I called Desert Cow because I had another virus. The woman who answered told me she was working with another customer and would call me in about 30mins. It's been more than two weeks and no call. I was able to contact Norton and they fixed the problem in a few minutes. read more

Mark & Dominique had come to our aid before regarding my wife's laptop. This time I needed help with transferring information from an old computer to a new one. This was an urgent matter and they responded. They picked up both towers on Friday and brought them back on Monday morning. The problem was resolved and I could SEE all of my files and my contacts. Wow I had an appointment with their tech at 2 pm- he calls 40 minutes after the appointment to say he's running late- calls to the main office as well. Tech tries to get another 'buddy' to help me and he had no understanding of what I needed.... We are very careful stewards of our income, and I can tell you that engaging Desert Cow Computers to purchase, repair, maintain and install your computer equipment is money wisely well-spent. And don't think these folks are like the cows in their website. A cow is a slow, bovine creature with not a heck of a lot of brain power. This is a follow-up to my previous negative review. I did receive a call back from the company that is taking over Desert Cow and their rep asked if I could bring my PC in because the hard drive would have be removed to perform the process. I did bring it in. The tech's name was Angel and I was very greatful when he took care my issue while I waited and the fee was very reasonable. Now all is well and I'm back up and running. After a miserable experience at another repair co. and told my computer was dead and could not retrieve any data. I then contacted Desert Cow and was greeted by Dominique who calmed by fears that all Hope was not lost. She picked up my computer (I didn't need to take in) and was able to retrieve all my data and transferred to my new computer. I contacted Desert Cow Computers yesterday afternoon and spoke to Dominque who was very professional and pleasant. I explained my error messages (Blue screens/shutdowns) and told her that the computer was 5 years old and she assured me that it most likely was not ready for the retirement home yet! We set up an appointment for this morning to see if it could be handled easily or would need to go to the shop. Her husband Mark arrived and knew within 5 minutes what the issue was and proceeded to explain and repair it! I was up and running probably within 1/2 hour. They only charge $130 for the 1st hour regardless of the time it takes within that hour and they come to your home so that is all it cost me along with not having a total meltdown thinking that I would lose data that I had not backed up or it would require major repairs. Small price to pay for peace of mind! I highly recommend checking them out if you need service of any kind on your computer. Nobody likes to leave their LIFE at a shop so the fact that they come to you is a major winner in my book! read more

My wireless all-in-one printer finally passed away after three years of loyal service and, being Internet savvy but not so much when it comes to installing hardware, I started searching around for a better alternative to Geek Squad (way too much buck for not nearly enough bang) and, thanks to YELP, I got in touch with Dominique at DESERT COW and I have to report that I'm totally delighted that I did!! First off, I called on the weekend and left a voicemail expecting to hear back on Monday, but no, Dominique called within the hour, offered to come over later in the day, in fact, but we settled on Monday instead. So here I was with a super slow computer (it was fine a week ago). Must be a virus, right? What now? I came onto Yelp and found the Desert Cow. What's with all the 5 stars? I was thinking, must have a lot of friends. All these 5 stars can't possibly be valid, right? Feeling suspicious, I called and got their voicemail, left a message and figured, maybe I'd here back by the end of the week (if at all). In less than 10 minutes, Dominique calls and apologizes for not picking up (who picks up? I thought this was a 'leave a message' kind of world!). I go on to explain what's happening (or not) with my Dell. She asked me a few questions, and suggested I try downloading a new browser. If that didn't work, they'd have to take a look. Much to my amazement, it worked! Things are back to working lickity split. The kicker? NO CHARGE. Wait, what? She told me I could use the computer with this work-around, or they could do a diagnostic. I decided to give this work-around a chance, and see what happens. He told me to give it a test run and see what I thought. He said most likely I'd have to roll back my Windows OS in order to get my speed back. He's right. I'm going to have him roll it back. First let me say that I had a laptop that was not working just as our family was about to head out west for a trip. So, I decided that it would be best to bring it along and have it fixed while on vacation in Palm Springs. I read reviews on Yelp about Desert Cow Computers and decided to give them a try. I contacted them before leaving just to tell them my situation and it was arranged to call them once I had landed in Palm Springs. Once we got settled in I called back and spoke with Dominique at Desert Cow. She was very friendly and proposed we meet at a spot in the middle of where each of us was located. Dominique was punctual and very professional. She had a few tricks up her sleeve she wanted to try quickly before taking the laptop back with her and poof, she had the issue fixed in minutes. I am happy to report this review is being typed on the laptop in question and all is well. She charged me nothing for the few minutes of her time and I was on my way. Have to add my kudos to this great service team! Very helpful on the phone and tried to give me a quick fix so I wouldn't even need their service. Then, when it was discovered that my laptop did, in fact, need work, Mike showed up to my house and was very courteous, explained what he was attempting to do and quickly determined that I would be better off sending it back to the manufacturer than having him spend any more time on repairs.
