Stopped in to see the new location, and it is pretty fabulous! This location is huge. Of course the food is still wonderful, my son and I shared a short rib plate, with Macaroni salad, and rice. The short ribs were thick and tasty, they certainly don't skip on the portion size. Had some gyoza and ahi wrapped in seaweed. They have lots of Hawaiian products for sale, very cool to see that available. Will def be back. read more

Was expecting a lot more with the good reviews. Wanna be honest without being negative as I support local businesses but the food just wasn't there. Got the island bbq plate, although the teriyaki chicken was decent, the beef and short ribs were dry and very salty. My wife ordered the garlic shrimp and they were very underwhelming. Nothing like the garlic shrimp in Hawaii. She barely even wanted to finish it. All in all, not good and probably won't try again. Hopefully they can make some improvements over time. Big Island BBQ and Tea in murrieta is still the best and our favorite for great authentic Hawaiian cuisine read more

Solid spot for local Hawaiian food. Tried the manapua and it was just like in Hawaii. The malasada with haupia inside was big and good. Was in town and decided to try this place since pics and reviews looked pretty good. They only had one person working the register, as well as handling all to go orders, etc. With a line, I felt bad for the girl, who clearly was overwhelmed and needed help. She was really nice, and I ordered the beef teriyaki plate. My food came out and looked great. Key word, looked. Unfortunately the beef was so tough and hard that I literally had to spit out many pieces. It also just tasted mainly like soy sauce, not much teriyaki flavor at all. The macaroni salad was super bland. Rice was the best thing on my plate sadly :( If you go, I suggest ordering something else. Maybe stick to spam musubi, etc :( read more

This was my first time visiting them, I'm Defin happy with the service and how easy it was to order. I'm a picky eater and I always ask for some substitutions. I had a Katsu plate and had asked for different sides the young lady taking my order said no problem...whenever I went to any other Hawaiian places they're always quick to turn me down and I have to buy things separately and pay extra and waste food (I Defin hate doing that). Visiting from Hawaii we can kinda be picky and critical about local food in the states but let me tell you that loco moco was one of the best I've had the hamburger patty was seasoned enough to bring out a burst of flavor and the gravy on point! Also I saw someone ordered the Kalbi nice healthy portion and looked really juicy to I mentioned to the staff how good it looked they ended up giving me a piece let me tell you it was juicy and off the hook no ka koi!!! Talk about real Hawaiian food, this is the place to be. It's hidden in Temecula. They also sell Hawaiian goodies, and souvenir items! The prices are a bit high, but I think the quality meets it! My boyfriend and I tried the combo teryaki chicken and kalua pork. Plus a small plate of fried saimen. The Mac salad was tasty and so was the kalua pork! The reason I docked off 2 stars was because the chicken wasn't fully cooked. It was still pink and slightly raw in the inside which made us not want to finish eating it. Second, the fried saimen lacked flavor and was dry. The fish cake and spam was quite little for the amount of noodles given. Overall, the Mac salad and kalua was good. Chicken teryaki was okay as we never really got to fully enjoy it. As for the saimen, I wouldn't get again. I will come back though to give them another try. Never been here before but tried it out because I saw they have meat jun, a Korean dish I've only been able to have in Hawaii. I've searched high and low everywhere for this dish and here I finally found it!!! I was skeptical because first of all, no one ever knows what meat jun is. Second, this ain't Hawaii so it can't possibly be as good. Third, well, no dish from Hawaii can really be duplicated to a T. Or could it?!? I gave this place a shot and as far as the food goes, I'll give them credit. I was shocked that it really actually tastes like the meat jun from Hawaii!! I mean REALLY?!? Yummmm!! Portions are not as big as back home in Hawaii though. There are only 4 tables that seat 4 people inside, but they do have outdoor seating as well. I was not terribly impressed with their service. Upon walking in, I met my sister who had already paid for her food and was waiting for it. She was the only one in there when I arrived with my daughter and there was a young girl at the register who did not acknowledge us at all. Thumbs down for that. I proceeded to order the meat jun plate as well as the bbq beef mini plate for my daughter. 2 more people ordered after me. BOTH people who ordered AFTER me got their food BEFORE me. Idk if it's because they ordered theirs to go, but that was pretty crappy. Someone else who had called in their order walked in, got theirs and left. I was still waiting for my order and by this time, at least 25 minutes had passed. Overall I would come again but I'll never eat inside again. Apparently this place is on top of their to go orders but good luck if you're planning to eat there. All I have to say about that is, you better have ample time to sit there and wait! We finally made it back to Da Coconut Cafe, and we were very disappointed! They changed locations, and the inside of the restaurant was beautiful. The food however was not at all like we remembered. We ordered the Chicken Katsu and the Chicken Teriyaki. Both dishes lacked flavor, and the Chicken Teriyaki was dry and over cooked. The Hawaiian Mac Salad was also flavorless, and the pasta was undercooked. The Malasadas were burnt, and not at all like Malasadas you get in Hawaii. Great food and great service! I got a tempura shrimp roll and it was so good. The sticky rice was perfect and the crispy tempura shrimp have the perfect difference in texture. There was a light sauce inside that was creamy and just overall a great snack. It was actually very filling. My daughter got the Kaluha pork, it came with a scoop of rice and a scoop of Mac salad and she said it was some of the best pork she has ever had. We also got a few sides of lumpia which were crunchy and very tasty as well. The people are very nice, food was excellent and very reasonably priced. We really wanted this place to be good . Upon walking in, it felt like a small family owned business. Those are my favorite. I was excited because I love PI cuisine! No one was in there so that should have been the first sign. The young man working the counter was nice. $70+tip for 3 meals and 2 drinks. Yikes. The food took long to come out. My husband went back to the counter at one point to ask for water cups, he waited for roughly 5 minutes while the young men working chatted in the back. A few waves and "excuse me"'s later, we were able to get their attention. Again, the worker seemed very nice. And plus we were about to get yummy authentic family style Hawaiian food, right? Not exactly.. When we finally got our food, the portions were pretty small, considering the price. We did enjoy the taste chicken wings, but the other plates we got were disappointing. I was so hungry and ate a little of what I could but felt sick after we left. I was wondering if I was going to get food poisoning or not. Let's just say nothing tasted "fresh". The musubi tasted like it had been sitting on the counter for a few hours. I took one bite and threw it away with the rest of the food. We literally left and had to buy food else where. We made the trip from Oceanside We all had the Hawaiian plate, and a bowl of poke. It was so worth the drive. The food was so ono!!!! The Kailua pork and lau lau was so flavorful and the meat was so tender. The poke is pretty darn close to what I grew up eating and what I make. The lomi lomi salmon was flavorful but it could have had much more salmon in it. I wish the owners would consider opening up a place here in Oceanside. The local community is quite large here. Ordered the kalua pork. My portion had almost no cabbage in it. Would have loved more cabbage to balance out all the pork goodness. I'm an islander, but I'm trying to reduce all meat diet. The service was slow at first. I stood there for at least 10 minutes before someone noticed I was there. I went in when there was no one there, so I'm not sure why it took so long. O.M.G.!!! It was sooo deliciously bursting w flavor, like the loco moco sucker punched me from behind!! It was DELICIOUS!!! The hubby had tried their samoan food before, and said it was pretty good but felt the portion was a bit small. First thing I've ever tried here was the short ribs which i felt were a bit small too. This place is a depressing representation of Hawaiian food. We decided to eat brunch here on Sunday, ordered the Portuguese sausage breakfast plate and a Loco moco plate. The food was at best, a 4 out of 10. The rice was mushy and over cooked, they're super skimpy on the meat. The Portuguese sausage only had 4 small pieces. We then decided to order the pankeke or pancake balls which looked really good on the photos, once it arrived it didn't look very appetizing, it was way over cooked and looked like it came from the bottom of the fryer. Spent around $50 before tip at this place for 2 peoand we ended up throwing most of it away. They were out of utencils like knives and spoons and even though we dined in, everything was served in togo containers. No wonder this place always looks dead. The ratings this place has of 4.4 is not accurate and that is why I decided to write a review. I would recommend going somewhere else for breakfast.
