I was in the mood for some poke. Decided to try this spot in murrieta. They have all the seafood options like salmon, tuna, albacore , shrimp. Along with all the extras like crab meat, avocado, jalapeno. All of their dressings and sauces were very tasty. Staff was friendly. The rating is two stars because the protein portion was minuscule and the girl making the food was not very friendly. I first visited this place a few times at the beginning of 2025 and always enjoyed their delicious bowls. It had been a while since my last visit, so I decided to stop by again. Unfortunately, this experience was disappointing due to the customer service I received from a male employee. I was interested in trying the masago sauce and simply asked what it tasted like--whether it was salty, sweet, spicy, or something else. His response was, "Like masago sauce, the way masago sauce tastes," delivered in a dismissive tone that made me feel as though I was incapable of understanding. Not everyone is familiar with every ingredient or food item, and some customers may be trying something new for the first time. A simple, respectful explanation would have been much more helpful. My daughter and I asked for the small (2 scoops) which is $16.50 but they charged us for the large (4 scoops) at $18.50. Always order a small so I know it comes in a small bowl and the large in a different container. Even watched the them give 2 scoops. Very disappointing!!! What a rip off!!!! So I've eaten here at Ocean poke before and it was the bomb! It's still good but the issue that I have is that they literally use a small ice cream scooper for the sides which are very small and they charge $.75 extra if you want extra veggies. I mean Avocado I can understand but being charged for more of the other veggies well it just seems a little bit much. I get that everything has gone up in price but $20.00 for one regular bowl was a lot! They have great sauces that you can add to your bowl. They are what makes these bowls really yummy if you ask me. A poke place that is so delicious you'll go back for more! This poke place popped up on our radar on yelp. Claiming to be one of the best, we checked this place out. It was quite busy but they had great service and were turning orders over very quickly. The variety of fish and topping was extensive which made the choices even better. I went for one of the large poke bowls, with lots of toppings and rice, while my wife went for the sushi burrito style. Both were amazingly delicious and the prices were very reasonable. The service was great helpful and they even offered a few things to check out. So I highly recommend you check this place out, it checks off all the poke need boxes! However, new employees really ruin the whole system by giving half scoops. I ordered the baked salmon bowl, and I added cilantro and guacamole, which were at $.89each addition to the price of the bowl. Plus I got two drinks. One canned coffee and a bottle of S. pellegrino water. My total cost plus tip was $27.19. The Salmon tasted fresh. the veggies are fresh and clean as well. There is a bit of a spice to this bowl but it does not overpower the overall balance of sweet and salt of this meal. I love the little crunchy noodle things as well. I personally love crunching on things in my meal weather it be lettuce in a sandwich or crunchy bell pepper flakes in my salad. My food had to be made in the back but i could see how people like seeing their poke bowl made right in front of them. 7 out of 10 experience. Also i was greeted when i walked to the front not immediately when i walked in. But everyone was very friendly. What could be better? Immediate greeting at the door. Pricing the extras lower. .89 cents for cilantro and .89 for guacamole is excessive in price especially if you are getting such a small portion of it. Like could not taste even a tiny bit of wasabi from the wasabi mayo and no spicy mayo either. It was like eating a raw fish salad bowl with zero flavor. Not good. And the scoot of crab meat was the most pathetic size ever...literally the size of a gumball. This was my first visit to Ocean Poke. I felt that the portions for the proteins were noticeably smaller than other shops in the area that I have frequented. The fish here was just okay. I appreciated that they offer yellowtail as a choice but it wasnt as good as I had hoped. The spicy salmon is roughly chopped and lacked seasoning which in my opinion made it taste like a salty salmon pico de gallo, this was unappetizing to me. I was not a fan of the house sauce here it tasted light but too sour. Pricing here is deceiving. The bowls are cheaper than other shops but they charge Per Topping which quickly makes this shop more expensive than any of the others I have been to. Overall not that bad but not very good either.
