Not going to lie, I am picky when it comes to buying frames. I'll want to try on anything and everything to find my perfect pair. That being said, D/Vision and its staff were outstanding (and patient). Between two visits, trying on numerous pairs of glasses, D/Vision's staff was with me all the way recommending and giving good critique. They were engaged in helping me and had good taste in doing so (much more than the 4 other optical shops I visited). Speaking on good taste, to be blunt, D/Vision's selection kicked the competitions ass! Certainly not cheap, but they accepted my vision insurance so definitely bearable. I ended up with a pair of Mosley Tribes, and just to put the icing on the cake, they were able to make my glasses in 2 days! Ordered on a Sunday, ready Tuesday! I am SO impressed. I literally just joined yelp to write this review. The staff was beyond helpful and friendly. Chris looked at my face and chose frames for me in ten seconds--and that first pair he chose ended up being the ones I went with. They gave my boyfriend a beer to keep him happy while waiting, and let him try on all the sunglasses he wanted-- he ended up buying a pair that they custom fit to his face. What I learned: don't worry about the brand of the frames. Don't go to a shop just because they have the name brand. It helps if you have an idea of what you like, but it's the quality and personal service of the shop that really matters. Oliver Peoples, I.C. Berlin, Paul Smith, and Lindberg Oh My.....!!!!!!....... D/Vision is definitely a style-hound's spectacle heaven. I had seen the store many times as I strolled down Division shopping and eating, so when I felt like it was time to have my eyes checked, I made an appointment. You will find the staff there courteous and helpful. Dr. Atikune was polite and efficient, giving me a thorough checkup and prescribing me some new lenses. My particular style of lens is pretty different from the norm, like the rest of me, so I have some difficulty finding a frame that works. Add that to the fact that I am extremely picky, and you have a difficult combo. Yet, despite all of this, the staff was extremely helpful and patent. By the end of my ordeal, I had chosen a fantastic new pair of Oliver Peoples that make my face look modern and stylish. Much thanks to all of those at D/Vision who made my experience wonderful. This place is awesome. I finally accepted the fact that I needed glasses and I took my prescription to D/vision to find my very first pair of frames. I was pretty intimidated by the idea of picking out glasses- I'm not into accessories or fashion and I had no idea what shape would look good on my face. Chris sized up my face and just started bringing me frames. I tried on probably 2 dozen and ended up going with the very first pair he chose- he just has a great eye and took all of the stress out of an important and expensive purchase. I love my glasses- they are so unique and they are the silver lining to my aging eye sight. Was it expensive? Yes--but you get what you pay for and will come away happy. The also have a water bowl for dogs and treats too- I have to admit I have a soft spot for places that are dog friendly. read more

I'm so happy I found this place! I realized I was about out of contacts last week and went to re-order online. My re-order was denied, and I got a notice that my prescription was expired. I called D/vision on Wednesday, and they got me in the same day. They were awesome about pulling up my insurance before I even got there, and I loved that I was able to get in so quickly because I have a crazy schedule that changes daily. The office is nice, the staff is friendly, and I was offered a drink as soon as I walked in. They seem to have a great selection of glasses, although I wasn't looking to buy any right now. I didn't have to wait long before I got to see Dr. Kwong. He was thorough, funny, and explained everything to me really well. He was nice enough to give me some 'sample' contacts to hold me over until my new ones came in. He also recommended an eye drop that works well with contacts - I love it, it makes a huge difference! I ended up ordering the contacts on Wednesday evening after my appointment. They were able to get them for me at an even better discount than what I usually find online, and also hooked me up with rebate info. I got a call 2.5 days later that my contact order was in. Awesome. I went here because of convenience to my location, but I'm definitely sticking with D/vision. read more

There are discount stores, there are online stores, there is so much today where the only consideration is price, that we often lose track of "service." When you wear eyeglasses, there is so much that depends on service and expertise. D/vision is one place where I know I am getting the best service possible and that the people there genuinely care about me looking my best and being happy. For starters, at least one of the owners always seems to be there. That is always a good sign. They really care about their customers and will go the extra mile to make you a client for life. Because when it comes right down to it, they are not just selling products, they are offering a service. I personally feel confident that they will help me find the best looking frame for my face, that if something does not look good on me, they will tell me so. I also know from experience that they will make sure the fit of the finished product is perfect, and that over time, they will make any adjustments necessary. Beyond that, everyone there is just friendly, genuinely nice and caring people who have obviously decided that running a business that way is the path to success. Went there for an eye exam and bought new glasses. The exam was reasonably priced at $79. The Dr. was easy to talk and made me feel comfortable. The frame selection was great, though comprised of higher end brands. I found a pair that I really liked, then continued on shopping elsewhere until I found that I had to have the nice ones at Division. The staff was really nice. The best eyeglass store I've ever been to; but make sure you have insurance. This store has the best selection of frames I've found. Glasses are sold via a dealer model: not all stores will carry all brands. D/Vision carries a fine selection of the top independent brands. Naturally if you want something specific, you'll need to check they carry it. More importantly, they're extremely helpful in the time consuming act of picking out the right frames. Since you're changing your face with glasses, this can be quite a pressure-filled event. The people here will spend as much time as you need, allowing you to finally finally make a decision. And since the glasses themselves here are so well made and diverse in shapes, you'll be able to find something. read more

I knew I was quitting my job and losing my fantastic insurance, so I thought I'd get an eye checkup beforehand. Turns out, I needed glasses! Apparently it's not normal to have to scrunch up your entire face to baby-pug status to read a computer screen. Weird. Anyway, experience at D/vision was great. Dr. was professional, courteous, and explained everything he was doing (which I like in a doctor). Once we settled on a prescription, the staff was very helpful in getting me some frames that fit my face. Make no mistake - these guys/gals are hipster fashionistas and they will find some frames for you. I'm wouldn't identify myself with being a "hipster" and definitely get annoyed by some of the organic-kale-crunching, tall-boot-wearing, music-snobby crowd around the neighborhood - so i'll stress that the folks at D/vision were very friendly and enjoyable to work with. Once I found some frames that I really liked, everything was painless - they arrived in less than 2 weeks and I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase. One caveat: if you're looking for a bargain, or for an extra pair of glasses just for fashion/reading - this may not be the place for you. Even with my ridiculous insurance I paid $270 out of pocket - Warby Parker would have been less than $150. read more

I don't know why my laziness took over me and so I didn't change my eye doctor after the first initial visit. I have been here since, and I like the fact that Dr. Atikune doesn't let me persuade him to letting me get lasik done even though I want that very much. We talked about it last year and was waiting for my prescription to be stable and since it wasn't, it's a no go. They do have hot looking frames, and it makes it pretty tempting to buy some new ones except that I don't really wear glasses during the day. I can't be bothered by defogging them in the winter and rainy weather days. I was especially grateful for them switching out my last emergency pair of contacts that I still had to my new prescription. read more

I found it on the way to the cafe to get coffee and I thought to pop in to browse and hopefully find my next pair of eyeglasses. Michelle greeted me with a friendly smile and helped me try on frames. She listened to my preferences and she chose frames based on them. I liked her honesty. We both ended liking a gold simple frame (Mykita...made in Berlin, Germany!) ...I bought it one week later, $600 dollars empty from my bank account, and look smart AF. I've been going here for 5 years, ever since I moved to the city. Lucky me, I happen to live down the street. Chris & the staff always know exactly what frames to make me comfortable and look good. My first time here, I was looking for prescription sunglasses. Chris took a look at me, reached for the shelf behind him, and on the first try found the perfect frames which I've kept ever since. Even better, even though my eyes are really bad, their lab was able to make wrap-around lenses for me and hid the thickness inside the frame. This is after 3 other shops told me I couldn't have wrap-around sunglasses because my prescription was too strong. Now, those shops were sort of right - it took D/Vision's lab 3 tries to make the lenses correctly, but they kept at it until they got it right. On price: yes, the frames they carry are expensive. But their service is fairly priced. I don't pay more for eye exams than I'd expect anywhere else, their lens service is comparable to other stores, they've adjusted my glasses for free even if I didn't buy them here, and they've performed service on damaged/broken frames at very fair prices. read more

Perhaps the best eye wear store I've ever been too. And that is saying a lot. The selection is enormous and extremely well curated. I'm a bit of an eye glass snob, and I have searched the city far and wide for a pair of eyeglasses that I would even consider trying on. One reason for this is that my head is so big it gives me neck pains, but that is for another post. Why is this store so cool? Well for starters they carry a ton of: 1. Oliver Peoples (Perhaps the greatest eye wear company in the world) 2. Paul Smith (I own a pair of these...so cool! :) ) This place is more expensive then other stores, but they also carry the top end brands the other stores don't necessarily carry. You have to keep this in mind. The sales reps are also really helpful as to what looks good on your face, and what looks like it should come off immediately. There is one owner in particular who is really really awesome. He is a really patient guy and he knows his regular customers well. I can't wait to go back to this place to buy a new pair. read more

I've been going to D/Vision for several years now and won't go anywhere else - even if my vision insurance is crappy. They have a great selection, my exams have always been thorough and quick and the service is topnotch. The staff have a great eye at picking out frames that work for whatever look you're wanting. There have been a couple of times where my frames have come in and the staff have done a quality control check on them and sent them back, something I am very pleased about - if it doesn't meet their inspection, they'll take ownership of it. I used to cringe walking into Pearle Vision and other places knowing I would hate everything there. The staff is also great and super helpful. I used to have glasses falling down my nose all the time because the arms were too big, not knowing those should be adjusted. I woke up one morning with ridiculous pain in my right eye. I had to call around everywhere to find someone that could help me and d/vision was happy to do so. The doctor there was extremely helpful with my scratched cornea. He took the time to explain to me exactly how it happened and what I should expect with the healing process. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was because they're really pricey for someone like me. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, if you have the money I definitely recommend this place. In a word, amazing. Dr. Kwong was exceptional - he explained every step of the eye exam, and I learned a lot about my eyes and how to care for them. It was eye opening - excuse the pun. Then to top it off I had very good help picking out frames for my new glasses. She pulled out about 5 frames for me to try, and 3/5 were very seriously considered - and I ended up choosing the 2nd pair I tried on. The same thing happened about a year ago when my boyfriend first came here after a recommendation from a coworker. He tried on a ton of frames perfect for him, and the sales rep was absolutely on target. Almost can't wait for my next appointment - and dying for my new glasses to come in! The help I received in picking out frames at D/vision was much better than any of the other places in the neighborhood, and that is why I ultimately bought my glasses here. Their selection is great, but I'm not so sure it's that much better than some of the competition. However, when I walked in, I was helped immediately and the person helping me brought me some frames like what I described I wanted. I liked them, but didn't love them. He then brought a few frames over that were nothing like what I said I wanted, but that he thought would fit my face the best. There was no question that the frames he thought were right for me were far better than what I thought I wanted, and I ended up going with one of them. They also happened to be (slightly) less expensive than the others I had been looking at. I also got excellent customer service when I picked up my glasses and when I went back for some further adjustments. I only gave 4 stars because everything here is pretty expensive--however, I'm satisfied with what I got for what I paid. I also actually want to wear my glasses now, versus only putting them on begrudgingly when I don't want to put contacts in. read more

Please be advised that everyone has been vaccinated and everyone is masked up. They have hand sanitizer all around; when someone tries on a frame, they take them in the back and sanitize them. I have been coming here for years and the staff is always pleasant and helpful. I have visited other optical shops and since coming here, I've not thought about changing and going somewhere more convenient. I live nowhere near and have to make a concerted effort to come here and it's totally worth the time and effort that it takes. I sort of became an "eyewear-phile" after my first visit at D/Vision. Their selection of frames covers every style and personality, from fun and colorful to contemporary and classic looks. I felt like buying a new wardrobe just to coordinate with the style each frame imbued. But that's foolish, right? Going into the store I had some idea what I was looking for in my soon to be new pair of glasses. But for those who aren't sure or open for ideas, the staff is very good about steering you in the right direction. They also aren't afraid to tell you if a pair isn't a fit or which pair is better/worse than another. I appreciated their opinion, and it never came across as cynical or trumping my own. I finally decided on a pair of Mikli's over Orgreen's, which were my favorite before going into the store. Since my current pair was held together by super glue, my salesman said he would try to get them in asap. I had picked my glasses out on Saturday and picked them up on Thursday! When I break this pair of glasses, I mean to say 'If', I will certainly come back to D/Vision. read more

I have had my eyes examined every single year for as long as I can remember being alive. I have worn glasses since I was five, have a double astigmatism, and myriads of other vision problems. I also have a family history of vision problems. I have been to more than five opticians in my lifetime. Thus, I think whenever I go to see an eye doctor, they more than have their work cut out for them. That being said, I have never experienced a more thorough and gentle optical examination. The examination given to me by Dr. Patrick Kwong was beyond worth what it cost, and the people up front were friendly and helpful as well. Dr. Kwong was so gentle and professional that I would recommend this office to anyone in need of an optometrist. I believe that Dr. Kwong will become one of the most beloved Doctors in the West Town neighborhood in the very near future. read more
