Do NOT use DTown movers....Be extremely cautious of this company and regardless of what they say, they ARE NOT part of Brazos movers. I had a wonderful experience with Brazos Movers when my parents moved and called, who I thought was Brazos Movers, to schedule my move. Spoke to a nice girl and when I asked, this is Brazos movers correct, she said yes we handle their overflow....WRONG. They are NOT part of Brazos. How the call got to DTown movers is still a mystery.
After an extensive conversation with the person making my reservation, she quoted me a certain number of hours, I thought it seemed a little aggressive and asked we add a few more hours to be on the safe side. Happy with the quote, I booked the move.
WOW, what a horrible experience. First, they did not show up with a big enough truck (was told the other truck broke down), they did not have enough blankets, tape, really anything to keep our items safe. They sent 3 guys, 2 could not even lift a standard box, my daughters and I were lifting heavier items then them and the 3rd was the Forman. It took them 6+ hours to load our items of which an hour alone was trying to figure out how to get a couch down from upstairs. (FYI when we moved to the house the then movers had the couch upstairs in about 10 mins). Luckily we had rented a U-haul to move other items on our own, they had to use the U-haul BUT wait....charged us in the end to load it....WHAT????
Once we finally got to the new house (after saying forget it, lets go....we will come get the remainder of the stuff on our own tomorrow.) They proceeded to hold our items hostage until we paid over 3Xs the original quote. They would not move an item until we paid the money and told use it would take 3 hours to unload but if it were finished before they would refund the hours....oh they took ALL the time.
Knowing we were on a clock and at that point just wanted them gone, myself, my husband, my 70 year old Dad and my 2 teenage daughter unloaded the U-haul. We had the U-haul unloaded before they were even 1/2 way complete with their truck. At that point, the 5 of us started to help unload their truck too.
Later we found beer cans and trash on our front lawn....looks like they were just hanging out while we were unloading vs unloading our items.
After that the real nightmare began. I called the company to explain that the crew they sent were not qualified and they should NEVER had taken that long. I was even told, "oh yes, this crew is only meant for 1-2 bedroom small moves." They agreed to refund 20% (still having to pay 3Xs the original estimate) but would look into the matter further. I have STILL yet to receive ANY refund. I have called multiple times and have been told I was speaking to the Owner (nope, was not the owner at all)....they were just passing me between managers. I was told the money would be back to me last week, then yesterday and then they just stopped picking up my calls. When I would call from another number they would pick up, say they were working on the refund and then hang up. I have left 2 messages for the supposed owner and have yet to speak to him.
Looking at the other reviews, seems like this is their way of doing business. I just hope this review stops another person from getting scammed. read more
