I was really looking forward to trying DP Dough, but my experience was awful. The delivery took over two hours, and when I called to ask about it, the same guy kept answering. I'm from Ireland, and he mocked my accent, accused me of being drunk, and even said I was using a fake number because it starts with +353. When my American friend called, he was suddenly much more helpful and even offered to send her a photo of where my food had been left. When I finally found it, the food was cold and stale. He realised he'd made a mistake and texted my friend afterwards, but the whole experience was really upsetting. I've never been accused of being drunk just because of my accent. I wouldn't recommend this place, especially if you're not American. I also have recordings from the interaction but Ive decided to withhold the persons identities it hopes that he will see this and change his attitude. read more

Genuinely can't remember if DP Dough was around when I was a student but I never had it if so. I have had calzones from other college locations but this would have been nearly a decade ago and I don't remember if I liked it or not. I got the bbq chicken zone for around $11. It was a decent size for the price and was fairly filling. It just tasted like it was cooked ages ago and reheated poorly (which is probably accurate realistically). It was definitely mostly bread (not fillings) and what was inside didn't seem high quality. It's a late night spot in a college town so I didn't expect much. And they are open until 4 which is pretty clutch. I'd probably rather grab something from 7-11 for cheaper though. Wouldn't return unless desperate. read more

I will give them five stars if they just wrap their calzones in aluminum foil and offer absolutely minimum packaging. I don't like to get any trash after ordering takeouts - so-called "compostables" ' toxicity to human health and soil is now documented in studies) or pizza boxes laced with BPA. I wasn't worried about the bad reviews and you shouldn't either. Any and everyone expectation I had was met. Great menu options, clean, friendly staff and milkshakes in the winter! This place is an absolute must but mind the hours since they do cater to the location (college town). I chose the make your own calzone. It was ready quickly and served very hot in it's own little cardboard box. The dough was perfectly cooked and the ingredients were fresh. There are no fountain drinks but a large selection of bottled drinks is found in a cooler behind the counter. The milkshake....wonderful. I had chocolate but one of the employees said I had to try the banana on my next visit. When in downtown, DP Dough is a must try. Might be busier at bar closing time but on a Thursday at 2pm you will be the only one in the place. read more

We used to order quite a bit from DP Dough. I don't know what happened. They used to be prompt and dependable. 2/5 of past orders were late and missing items. I placed an order last week. It came 2h and 20m after I ordered it, way after it should've been here (used to take 30-45m). I took the late order back to the restaurant and contacted dP dough through their company "contact us" link to ask for a refund of the $50+ order that came over 2 hrs late and no response. I reached out over this issue 4 times and no response. Shame on you DP Dough, you are letting your company go to shit and you owe me money. Been getting food here late night for a long time. It just seem the service has been going down hill a bit. I know things can get hectic when the bars near by close for the night. When I order food I choose to change out the sauce for my zone, which costs extra. I get food here at least once a week. The last four visits I have not been getting the sauce I ask for, sometimes non at all. It's not much, I know, but it is annoying. I don't want to have to start checking my food as soon as I get it from the people working behind the counter. This is my only grievance. Other than that the food here is great. Hole in the wall calzone joint that was pretty good! Talk about a pleasant surprise! My friend and I each got a "Drop Zone" calzone. It comes with chicken, two types of cheese, and pepperoni. Both of them cost about $9, so it was a good deal. I liked the fact that the calzone was pretty big and the cheese was pretty good. But the chicken was pretty raw, and that was a bit of a letdown to an otherwise good calzone. The late hours are really great, because it is convenient for the college kids. This was a must-do at my 10-year college reunion and D.P. Dough is as good as I remember. Reenacting our college practice, we called to order in the wee morning hours after drinking away the night in the Arts Quad. The girl on the phone advised me to put some barbecue sauce into my Construction Zone (steak, mushroom, cheese!) and I did so, however haphazardly instructing her to pour as much as possible due to inebriation. Despite the gallon of BBQ sauce injected into my calzone, it was still delicious. The delivery guy and I spent a bit of time debating the best pickup spot for Balch Hall. My second Calios location. Huge fan of the concept and it is great late night drunk food. The loaded tots are great and my favorite calzone is a tie between the potato and black and Bleu. Sadly, a bit overpriced. I know Ithaca is influenced more directly by the NYC market, but it is weird for me to get the same exact order from Henrietta and Ithaca and see a difference of 10-15 dollars. Kind of a mind blow. Best thing about this place is that it's one of the few places open in collegetown until 4am, so it's a good place to satisfy those late night munchies. However -- the calzones are a bit doughy so some bites are completely lacking in filling. Which is passable, because honestly, I love my carb/meat/cheese combination foods. But the one time I ordered their mozzarella sticks turned me from a fan to a reluctant only-if-dying-for-calzones customer. Their mozzarella sticks might as well be straight from the freezer, barely heated up for 30 seconds, and then tossed in a box -- and it's 8 (or so) sad little sticks for the same cost of a calzone. Somehow, the mozzarella sticks across the street at 7/11 are better (don't knock it 'til you try it). The mozzarella sticks in the frozen section at Wegman's are DEFINITELY better. Tucked in a potentially sketch corner off of Green St near the Commons, you wouldn't think much of this take out calzone joint until you realize its almost 3am and nothing else is really open. However, they make a huge variety of calzones and are open late each day, perfect for the drunk and starving college crowd. Large selection of calzones that vary from American style to the more traditional Italian stuff. Take a look on their website for the entire menu, most pack a bunch of artery clogging ingredients but if you're eating pizza to begin with, that's already a given. They also offer wings, chicken tenders, and breadsticks. My "Oh Zone" calzone was similar to that of a Philly cheese steak but with mozzarella cheese used instead, actually more akin to a Stromboli in terms of ingredients, but it was fresh out of the oven and pretty tasty, although the marinara sauce included could be a bit overwhelming. For around $7 total a pop, this place is definitely on my to try again places especially since their open late and have plenty of variety. There's only two small tables inside and one outside for seating so don't plan on sticking around. On a random note, when I walked in the other night there was already a "Yelp Loves Us" sticker on their window although on Yelp there's a grand total of only six reviews at the time I'm writing this. These are some of the best Calzones ever. The calzones are always a good size, enough for one person. They always fill them pretty decently with your choices. I love Wednesday as they have their 2 for $10 calzones (regular) which is a darn good deal! I usually always get tater tots in my calzones as they are the bomb! I've tried their chicken bacon ranch, buffalo chicken and breakfast calzones and would order all of them again! Their delivery is usually between 30-45 minutes which isn't bad at all!
