Me and my partner decided to visit this location for Valentine's Day since Apple bees is one of my favorite establishments. We were greeted by serval friendly faces and got seated instantly seeing as this location was fairly empty. The location itself is nice and very typical of an Apple bees with high school photos lining the walls and sports games on the TV. Our food was a bit slow but once it came it was pretty good, we split boneless wings which were as good as usual and both of our personal meals were delicious! Well, they boned me again. After receiving word that the Triphammer Rd Applebees is closing in May, I decided to give them one more try. For old times sake, like Sal Tessio would say. Now, mind you, I have been vocal about this specific Applebees, located in Ithaca NY. Every time, l mean, EVERY Time, that I have either dined in or taken out, this specific restaurant has screwed up my order. It's uncanny. You would think that at least one time, they would accidentally get it right. But noooooooooo. Tonight, it was another simple order. Bacon cheeseburger, grilled oriental chicken salad and golden barbecue wings. NOT boneless wings. Which is what I got. When you order chicken wings, must you specify not boneless? I think not. I loathe boneless wings. Carside to go so I at least checked the bag for three orders. I should've opened each and every container. So glad these simian employees will soon be unemployed. We dined here last night, mostly because of the convenience factor and variety of quick, simple foods to choose from since it was nearing closing time. I had the Caesar salad and French Onion soup and my date had chicken tenders with fries. The food was great, but most commendable should be the server and manager, Joe. Waited an hour and a half yesterday for our food at lunchtime. Turns out our server never put it in. Manager was unapologetic and made excuses. Had to ask for silverware, and our check twice. The food was absolutely delicious, hot and fresh! They had very attentive, friendly and professional customer service. We were seated right away and the hostess was very caring to ensure we were pleased with our booth type. Clean and nice environment really enjoyed the experience. Overall the experience was good. Our waitress was attentive but took some time bringing out extra cheese for the nachos. When I got it, I was already halfway done. My mother had soup and salad that she said was very good. The loss of a star would be the for the cleanliness. The restaurant was far from busy so there wasn't much excuse for trash on the floors and tons of dust. read more

I previously gave a 3 star review, unfortunately this visit a year later has prompted the loss of another star. We were seated in a frenzy when it was not even busy, half of the staff seemed to be scratching their heads as to what they were doing. We were seated, party of three and provided two napkins and a messy pile of silverware. Our waitress was trying, but was taking notes like a PHD Class right before an exam. We had to repeat our order twice so that she could transcribe it. My ribs came out like shoe leather, dry and burnt. The waitress said she wished I said something before... I'm quite confused as I could not have possibly known prior to our food coming out, and I have never had to specify that I want BBQ ribs, hold the shoe leather and charcoal... this place has gone down hill so far over the last couple of years, I guess next time we will drive the extra miles to head downtown. read more

Food was good but service was lacking! We went there for our anniversary tonight.The (very pleasant) waitress basically ghosted us once we got our food. She literally disappeared after we were served. She may have gone on break, but no one else stepped up to check on us or offer drink refills. She finally returned several minutes later to give us our bill. I usually tip well but certainly didn't tonight! We aren't likely to return to this Applebee's again any time soon. read more

I have only ever ordered the double crunch chicken wings to go and have never been disappointed. They are juicy, tender and fried crisp to perfection. Came here a few times with friends and usually order from the 2 for $20 or 2 for $30 menu. I like the spinach and artichoke dip appetizer. Kind of salty bad not terribly so. The tenders and fries were pretty good too. Average good, not amazing good. I got the steak once. Not good. I don't know why I thought ordering a steak at Applebee's was a good idea because it wasn't. Very hard and tasted rubbery. Also got a pasta dish here once. I can usually handle salty, but this was HORRENDOUSLY salty. I could barely finish it. Would only come here on special occasions if a friend somehow wanted to celebrate at Applebee's. About once a month I order the wonton chicken tacos to go. Went and got it for lunch today. $15 total with a Pepsi. Absolutely horrible!!! I should've taken a picture. Some of the staff were nice and friendly. Other were just there to do a job and make some money. Any time we were brought something it was place by one of our elbows without a word. If the other person didn't notice then it would have went on the floor. We were never offered menus and never told how to access one. We had to find the small qr code on the table by ourselves. We were never told about anything and pretty much fended for ourselves. Our food was okay and we were served quickly. That is the only reason I am giving it as many stars as I am. read more

A solid part of the Applebees chain. Ordered the two for $20 and had Mozzarella Sticks and the 7 oz. Sirloin with Mashed Potatoes. The meal was made quickly, hot, and tasty. I've had the same meal at other Applebees and this was quite impressive. Same layout and decor as the last few years, but the servers are prompt and friendly. I only get to return to the area a few times a year, and this is a great choice for a quick meal, especially with a group. read more

Very friendly, bubbly staff. Most of the dishes are very tasty with a few exceptions. I've been about 20 times in the last 11 years. Have never had a bad experience. They are always very accommodating. I love that they have Weight Watchers choices. All the WW choices I've had have been very tasty with the exception of the new Chicken Freshcado which was a total miss. There was no flavor or spice and it was lacking acidity and salt. I wish they would bring back WE dessert choices. My beau had the All You Can Eat Ribs Chipotle flavor and was very happy with them and the seasoned fries. The spinach & artichoke dip was also a dud lacking substance and flavor. Boneless wings were good. Our apps came out after 18-22 minutes I'd guess. My BF complained to me but not staff when waiting cause he was hungry. After they came out 2 different managers came out and profusely apologized for the delay. We hadn't and didn't complain to staff at all so were surprised when the first offered "adjustment to check". Then the 2nd manager that came over told us he was going to "take care of the meal" for us which we didn't really understand exactly what that meant but weren't going to complain. He even threw in extra chips and salsa in our to go bag. At the end we were waiting for our check and waiting again to see what discount would be and the waitress finally explained there was no check as the whole thing had been comped. Apps, beers, milkshake, entrees and all. We were surprised and confused. It seemed overly accommodating like maybe they mistook us for celebrities or mucky-mucks. Ha ha. We still gave the waitress a $10 tip as she has to make a living. But pretty bummed about the hostess there we asked her when we got in if she could ask other staff to sing happy birthday to my mother whose birthday it was (68) and she said ok . I'm not a big fan of Applebee's. The food is usually bland and the drinks are usually watered down. But this location makes it worth it to sit at the bar and have an appetizer and some beer. Their boneless wings are not bad and the bartender is really nice and attentive. Although there's nothing amazing about Applebee's, we all know that Applebee's is always dependable. I usually try to avoid coming here for any form of dinner because I don't think it's worth the price, however the happy hour appetizers from 11am to 7pm and 10pm to until closing (usually midnight) are totally worth it when you're feeling the munchies. At night, those half-off boneless wings and the spinach & artichoke dip totally hit the spot. I do admit though, I'm speaking from the point of view of a starving college kid. The whole reason I write reviews is to help other students on tight budgets think up fun date ideas--it's a niche perspective, but an important one given the supposed decline of that particular social phenomenon. Using that lens, Applebee's needs to be revived as a serious contender. It's true the entrees are unholy--packed with sodium and cheese, and spliced together into veritable Frankendishes of American fare in huge proportions, but some of the straightforward items in the 2 for 20$ deal, which also gets you an appetizer, are not bad. Case in point: the sirloin steak. Drinks here are sugar-loaded, and sometimes I wonder if some wonk could compute Applebee's contribution to US diabetes prevalence. The ambiance fits kitch to a tee, but the Ithaca location has some local flair to differentiate it. The service is consistently decent and can sometimes even be good. The real thing to do, as other reviewers have hinted at, is to go see a late-night movie, then head to Applebee's for half-off wings. There's something romantic and reassuring about walking hand-in-hand late at night through a desolate parking lot in a non-descript suburban wasteland to Applebee's after taking in the latest Hollywood soma...I mean film. You realize in those moments that you need someone real, and you appreciate your partner's quirks more than ever. They become even more human and their company is especially comforting against an American cultural landscape that can seem positively soul-crushing at other times. In short, it is completely possible to go to Applebee's, enjoy your time there, and walk out without having turned into a zombie. Your capacity to read and interpret Foucault etc will not be diminished by consuming a Bahama Mama and some Wonton Tacos-- I promise. I generally steer clear of Applebee's, just because we have so many better options in Atlanta. The food is usually bland, portions too large, etc. But, we were in Ithaca for a wedding, staying right nearby at the Ramada, and starving/delirious from a 15 hour drive. So, we sucked it up and went to Applebee's. Most of the 3 stars are for the staff. Super friendly, helpful, and our order was correct and fast. I almost always get the Oriental Chicken Salad when I go, and it was just as good here as anywhere. I really like the new grilled chicken option for this salad that comes with an Asian-style sauce, so that you don't end up with just plain old grilled chicken. The regular portion was too large for me to finish in one meal, and I'm a big eater. It also had a LOT of cabbage. My husband had a turkey club and fries - totally edible but not very memorable, as most Applebee's food is. They do serve Pepsi products here, which I really was sad about as I was dying for a Coke Zero. I had to remind myself I was not in Coke Country anymore! read more

And here we are. I was visited for work and thought what the heck, its been years and years since I visited and I'm curious. The menu is still as nuts as ever; layers of stuff on top of each other like Shrimp & Parmesan on top of Steak; why? what good can come of that flavor? B Mozzarella Sticks - the sauce is very ketchupy. B+ Beef Sandwich - Surprisingly good. I would actually order this again. It's a total safe bet. It's just like a brisket with barbecue sauce and the onion strings on top where great! Something weird about the food in general here was that nothing was completely hot. Some of the mozzarella sticks where half hard and the fries with the sandwich were luke-warm. There weren't that many people in the place... This is the only Applebees I like. I've been to like, 5 others and they all are terrible but this place, they have it nailed when it comes to food and service usually. I usually list details of food but I'll just tell you some of the things that keep me coming back: Chicken Tender Platter (have them toss the tenders in the Honey Pepper sauce, you won't regret it!) Oriental Chicken Salad (so good) Feista Chicken Chop Salad (amazing cilantro lime dressing!) Chicken Wonton Tacos (quite possibly the best app in the history of apps!) I've tried some other stuff that can be hit or miss like the quesadilla burger, the tortilla gets soggy too quickly before you are done eating the burger, the mac and cheese is too cheesy, it can make your mouth feel too caked in cheese. The potato twisters can be too greasy but the queso is amazing! The Spinach Artichoke dip is awesome, the boneless wings are good, but are just boneless wings. The Southwest Eggrolls are awesome! Overall this place is my go to 2 for $20 place and I keep coming back. The service is usually spot on, the prices are good and I actually like the atmosphere. Anyways, this is the only applebees in my opinion, love it here. read more

The food ranges from mildly acceptable to enjoyable. Prices are decent most of the time, and the sangria is delicious. The Achille's Heel of this establishment is service, both in waiting and in the kitchen. I waited for two and a half-hours to get a simple appetizer-and-entree dinner date combo. The waitress was aggressively friendly to the point of being uncomfortable and obnoxious. I appreciated her hard work, but her aggressive nature was a bit much. The kitchen lost our entree orders, and had to completely redo them. The waitress told us about every 5-10 minutes for about a half hour to 40 minutes that it would "just be a little longer". The food, when we actually received it, was okay. My steak was cooked okay, but my boyfriend's mac 'n cheese was extremely bland. The saving grace of this establishment is that the management is kind and attentive. Our meal was comp'ed by the manager to apologize for the absurd wait time we had, and that action was appreciated. Thanks to him, we feel we will give this Applebee's another shot, which hopefully won't turn into another 2-and-a-half hour debacle. read more

I used to eat here a lot with my friends back in high school.. Last week, my mom and I ate here for dinner, and it was A LOT worse than I ever remembered it. I ordered a salad with pecan crusted chicken, which tasted good, but when I got home about an hour later, I had really bad stomach pains and I was sick.....can anyone say, food poisoning? I think Applebee's is generally overpriced and has only mediocre food. The salads used to be my favorite thing to order, but now that I got sick from one of them, I won't be going back!!
