Been to D'oro Gelato e Caffè a few times over the years. They're next to Noah's Cafe but also have a second location on Robson Street. Shocking how their gelato prices have skyrocketed. Scoops are $7.00 (single), $11.05 (double) and $15.10 (triple). We were able to sample a couple flavours before deciding. - 4x Single scoops ($7.00) - pistachio, after 8, lemon (sorbetto) and ferrero rocher. Flavours were okay, scoops tiny. Tried this ice cream place after dinner. Price was on the higher end for $7 for one scoop. They had a nice variety of flavours, though as usual I got pistachio with a waffle cone. Appreciate how they didn't use colouring for the pistachio though. I like how natural the pistachio taste and the texture of the gelato was quite nice, it didn't melt as fast as some other gelato in town. read more

D'oro is the among the few really authentic Italian gelato cafes in Vancouver. I've been to the Robson location before, this was my first time at this one, and I've really enjoyed both. They're pretty much identical, so just go to the location that's more convenient for you. The staff are very friendly and hardworking, The cafes are clean and have an elegant look but decoration is not at all over the top. This one is a little tight on space - there's plenty of tables, but they're kind of packed together. Here, I had a vegetarian panino, an iced latte, and of course some gelato to finish off (but I was really tempted by all the cakes and will try one on a cooler day). The panino took a while to heat up, but it was worth it for the freshly grilled bread. The eggplant, pepper, and onion filling was delicious. They make a good latte, and it's served with a small piece of biscotto. If the bite-sized piece is any indicator, they make amazing biscotti. Just the one bite packed a lot of almond essence. I got a "D'oro" scoop for the gelato, which is 3 mini scoops. I love that they have this option so you can enjoy different flavours without getting a monster serving. It's also a pretty good value for 3 scoops at $6.65. They don't charge extra for cone either. The flavour selection is the standard flavours that are popular in Italy. I went with the pistachio, coconut, and biscottino flavours on cone. They let you sample a few flavours before choosing and I also tried the rum raisin - it was a tough call between this and the biscottino, but I went with the biscottino because I thought it would go better with the other flavours I wanted and I thought it had a little more depth of flavour. Of the scoops I got, the pistachio was the richest and that was my favourite, but they were all good. I'll admit that there is better gelato to be had in Vancouver - "gourmet" gelato shops like Bella Gelateria and Uno Gelato (or, if you want to go to Commercial Drive, Dolce Amore is unbeatable) have slightly smoother gelato and offer a better selection of flavours for the more adventurous palate. But this is still a high quality gelato, and I actually would choose this over almost any ice cream - it's just that Vancouver has some insane competition! Where D'oro shines is offering an all-around strong cafe menu and capturing the essence of Italian gelato culture. For gelato fans I do think it's a must-try, because it takes you back to the roots of gelato. And even if you don't want gelato, it's a nice cafe that's worth a visit. read more

Awesome! Friendly staff, we were able to try before buying! But the best part of this place their mini size scoops, so we could have 3 different ice creams in one cone/tub which was awesome. Have never been anywhere where this is done except to have three large scoops which is far too much! would recommend here with their little scoops and fantastic flavours! It's difficult to give this place one rating because my boyfriend and I got two different items and the reviews of the two are completely different. First off, the pistachio gelato--it was decent. Good, natural pistachio flavour. I wouldn't call it the best but there's nothing wrong with it. It's perfectly acceptable. I wouldn't mind having it again. Based on the gelato I should give a 3 1/2 rating but the second item is so shockingly bad that I decide to average it out and the result is 1 star. Now the carrot cake slice. The character of carrot cake has always been soft and moist. It's hard to mess it up. I don't know if it's because this piece has been sliced and sitting in the fridge for days/weeks, or it's made that bad. My guess it's both. The icing is sticky. Yes, it has a sticky consistency. It's definitely not fresh. The cake itself--it's so hard and dry I can scrub a pot with it. First I thought it was all the hard bits of nuts that's in the cake but I broke off a small piece to look--yes, it's cake and I had to "break off" a piece. No it wasn't the nuts, the cake broke off like a piece of plaster. I admit, I'm not a professional chef myself but I do cook daily and bake occasionally. I cannot imagine serving anything like that to my family or friends without a sincere apology, let alone charging $8.80 for one slice. I would definitely rate the carrot cake at least three minus stars. This isn't about whether the cake is tasty. It's about professional pride and standard. I simply cannot imagine any decent pastry chef, or any honest staff, taking one bite of that cake and say: "Yep, it's fine. Put it in the display." read more

One of my favourite spots! It's really small and not very much seating area but this is a great place to pick up ice cream before going to the beach! The tiramisu is my favourite!!!! I usually can't finish one scoop by myself but I somehow can finish two! It's so creamy and full of flavour! You won't be disappointed here! read more

Tried Ferrero and it was mild chocolate, and nocciolato (hazelnut & milk) was like vanilla. Settled with Nutella and mango which were average. Nutella tasted like Nutella mixed with vanilla ice cream, with mango was like supermarket boxed ice cream. Too bad, an expensive mistake. read more

Wowww... where should I begin?? I was craving a lot for some quality gelato and started looking at reviews. This place had great reviews so decided to go no further. Moreover, this was just next to the place we had dinner so that worked out pretty good for us. I soooo wanted to get their nutella gelato but they were out of it. There were what seemed like a bazillion options !! Sorbets and gelato .. vanilla or creme brûlée?? I was so confused for I wanted to try all of them. There is an option to get three mini scoops in a cone or cup for about $5 and that's perfect! I got dark chocolate, pistachio and kinder bueno. My friend had coconut, coffee and strawberry cheesecake gelato. My most favorite were the pistachio and coconut. Some of the flavors were a tad bit sweeter than usual in my opinion- for e.g the kinder bueno had almond flakes in it and was a bit too sweet but my dark chocolate balanced the sweetness well. The place had a never ending influx of customers. They also have an award for Vancouver's winning gelato taste buds. I am definitely not surprised! Next time I am here, I will probably try their coffees. There's no dedicated parking. Street parking is the way tk go to explore around Vancouver downtown. read more

i went to the place long time back and I love it really good gelato, how ever I return this last Sunday for a different reason, I recently bought a coffee shop by the area and we complete forgot to order more lid for our coffee I try different places that sells Coffee asking if I could buy some of their lids on stock and I was rejected until I came to D'oro gelato Kristina's employee called her explaining the situation and she totally agree on giving me lids and return them later saving my day on the spot. Later I send her a txt saying thank you and her response was: that's what neighbourhoods are for... if more business owners were like this I'm sure less places around the area will close down. The sizing is very small & expensive compared to some other gelaterias in Van. Also the taste lack depth in flavour.

Here on vacation and this place has wonderful gelato! They are pretty pricey so I got the kid's size mango, nope had to go order the double size because it was that good! And then made a second trip before leaving town. This time had mango with passion fruit was it was a great combo. I liked their bold fruit flavors, exactly what I had been craving. Sorbetto review. They have a large selection of sorbetto. I tried several flavors including the peach and the blood orange. I found all the sorbetto to be far too sweet. The natural tart fruit flavors didn't stand out as much as I hoped. Menu: I had the seasonal blueberry sorbetto. The seasonal blueberry was the least sweet of the samples that I tried. Hopefully you are not as sensitive to sugar as I am and will enjoy the sorbetto more. Venue: There is very nice seating inside and it feels like a european cafe. They also served gluten desserts. I am so incredibly disappointed with the poor service and over priced gelato. I come here weekly for 6 scoops of gelato or more. Today, I requested my usual plus an additional 2 scoops. I asked for the cookies and cream and on the top was a cookie, (Oreo) as she was scooping I noticed she was right where the cookie was. I asked if she could throw in the cookie and to my surprise she said no! I asked her why not and if they were just for decoration and she said no, she can give them but only when she reaches it. (Which irritated me because she had indeed reached it, which is why I asked but she was digging the stuff stuck on the sides). I shrugged it off and then moved on to the second order. I wanted two scoops for my daughter and I chose cookies and cream and bubble gum. She scooped cookies and cream first, continuing to dig on the sides scraping whatever she could so she wouldn't have to give me that cookie on top, (frustrating) then she scooped the bubble gum which was unusually runny. I asked for a small square container assuming they would put the scoops side by side like all of my previous orders but instead she put them in a small circle container with one squished on top of the other. While not preferred, this wouldn't have been so bad if the bubble gum gelato wasn't super runny, which she should have taken initiative and corrected it. It ended up layering the cookies and cream, mixing both together which is gross! I didn't want them mixed! At $7 for two little scoops I want two separate scoops that werent mushed together. I complained at the register asking for a bigger container because the one flavour gelato was too runny and mixing in with and both employees looked at each other with a smirk and said "no sorry that's not how we do it, we can't use a different container, we just don't do that". I asked what I would have to pay to get a square container and again they said "no sorry it doesn't work like that". I was completely shocked at the rudeness and terrible service. If it wasn't for the huge line up of customers behind me I would have left the gelato on the counter and just walked out, If you want over priced gelato and terrible customer service, then you've found the right place!!! I had to throw the gelato out because the two flavours mixed was gross. Complete waste! read more

Love the place! The panini is really good, and i loved most of the gelato we tried. Of the ones we tasted, my favourites are the dark chocolate, after 8, coffee, pistachio (i do not like pistachio but i have to admit theirs was realllllyyy good!). I dont like ice cream that are too sweet and if u are like me i wouldnt go with the salted caramel or coconut. I havent tried the other ones, there's lots of flavour to choose from so try before u go for it. Their espresso coffee and triple chocolate cake are very good as well! Service wise i havent had any issues like some other customers wrote. It can take some time to be served but its rare and the staff is very nice. The place is also very clean. I have a baby so i felt good going there 3 times for lunch during our visit in Vancouver and twice for an afternoon/evening snack! read more
