Was driving home after running errands and saw this place. Love trying new spots for Coffee. The inside was spotless, had great looking decor with tons or space. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. I kept that last star off though because I find it super odd that a business would only have a NITRO option for their Cold Brew. Not all of us want/need that amount of caffeine and Cold Brew is all I drink. I still bought it but it's definitely taking me 2 days to knock back this 24oz. Just my personal preference though. I went there today and got a large protein shake and a kids grilled cheese, the guy was talking to the people at the car in front of me for like 10 minutes and they had already gotten their bag of food and they held up the line for at least a good 10 minutes. This place is really gone downhill, further prices that they charge they should be ashamed of their customer service and the quality of food. Due to their proximity to my house, I have given this place 3 chances, and all 3 have been bad. The first time I went inside to order. The girl that took my order was just not nice. I had ordered a latte and it was only ok. The second time I went through the drive through. I was in line behind about 4 cars and I ordered the Veggie Frittata. Not only did I sit in my car for over 14 minutes before I finally got my order, but it was so salty that you couldn't even eat it. I threw it away after only a couple of bites. Sad, I know. The third and last time I went through the drive through again. I ordered two 24oz Protein Shakes, listed at $6.75 each. They asked what kind of milk I'd like, so I asked for almond milk. I also asked if they could sub whey protein for vegan and they said it wasn't a problem. When I got to the window, he said the total was $22.00+ (I can't remember what the odd change was). WHAT!?!? $22 for 2 protein shakes?? I don't even pay that much at the airport! Yikes! I asked why and he said "oh, it's the protein and an extra charge for almond milk", to which I replied "but I subbed the protein, not added extra, so there should not be a huge up charge". He said "oh, are you used to going to Scottsdale? We're more expensive than them and people are always surprised by it." WTH? The shakes weren't even that good. In all, I will not be back. We walked in early Saturday evening about 45 min before they close. We had just been next door at Frasher's Smokehouse & after the food was delivered to our table, a few bites taken, we walked out. If you want to know why you'll have to read the review. I had eaten breakfast at one of the d'Lite locations years ago & remember it being good. We were hungry & even though my sister was nervous about the "Healthy" term in their title, I convinced her to give it a try. The place was empty, it took a minute before the employees noticed someone walked in the door - but that was fine as it gave us time to look through their rather extensive menu. Point of note, "healthy" doesn't mean tofu, sprouts, vegan stuff so don't let the name deter you from trying d'Lite. Healthy also means organic & locally grown foods, in addition to recycling. We had a good laugh with the young lady behind the counter, telling her how bad Frasher's was & why we were now at d'Lite. We ordered the Croissant 'Wich and Turkey Avocado Club, along with their detox juice. When I exclaimed happily "they recycle", that gal mentioned the owners are into not destroying Mother Earth ... then she hands us plastic straws. So now I say to the owners, banish the straws. :-) The food came out hot and both sandwiches were very good. The detox juice was from a Tempe company; it was made w/ pineapple, apple, spinach, and kale - heavy on the pineapple. From a non-spinach or kale loving person, it was also tasty. Guys, I have a confession: I'm obsessed with breakfast buzzes. I crave them, I dream about them, and I constantly yearn for them. It's a problem. It became an especially big problem when the D'lish by my house CLOSED; in between that closure and the opening of the new Tempe location (TBD), the withdrawals were real. So when I found myself in the Arcadia area for work around lunchtime, the obvious move was to hit up this location, which I'd never visited before. I've been to all of the other locations, and this one is far and away the swankiest and roomiest. That's right, folks, no drive-thru spillage into the main road. Amazing concept, I know. The interior had tons of space and was super well maintained, and even had a fake-grass wall. Wicka-whaa?! Perfect ambiance for me to shove a salad and buzz down my gullet. The Man Salad is one of the few salads in the world I genuinely enjoy and don't mind paying for--their amazing tuna salad stuffed into an avocado half, plus chicken and bacon? Yes, absolutely, sign me up. I'm pretty iffy on tuna salad, but theirs is awesome--heavy on the dill, which is perfect for me. Pro-tip: if you get the salad and eat there vs taking it to go, you get like double the amount of food. The breakfast buzz is, in a word, perfect. Coffee-y, chocolate-y, peanut butter-y, banana-y protein shake heaven. I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be a meal substitute on account of the protein, but I like to have the whole thing as a dessert and then complain about being way too full. But unlike most desserts, it also pumps me full of caffeine so I can keep on keepin' on with my day--full, but awake. This is a never-ending cycle, and I'm completely okay with it. And, though I didn't have it on this most recent trip, the Cali Club is one of my favorite breakfast sandwiches ever. I've tried a handful of their other breakfast items, but always find myself gravitating back towards the bacon, turkey, pesto, million-other-amazing-things goodness that is the Cali Club. Plus, the bread it's served on is always stellar. If you are anywhere nearby, stop in. Don't even think about it, just do it. Get a salad, get a buzz. Short on time? Doesn't matter because they are the speediest service around. You have no excuse not to do this. read more
