Quaint, to say the least.

Went for an early dinner after we pulled our RV into town. Had the place to ourselves. Amy was great! She told us all about the history of the depot, turned on the toy trains (one hanging upside down), and made sure our meal was memorable. She even invited us to go to her son's HS football game. Which we did! Loved the old feel of the building. The chicken pot pie was amazing! And the birthday cake for my wife was a nice touch.

We contacted D&R Depot for our Christmas Day catering order that was made on 11/20/24. We were told we were set and confirmed for a 3:00 pickup on Christmas Eve. My 76 year old mother showed up to pickup and no one was there. They also had a linens company waiting in parking lot. No answered then they presumed to blame us for placing the order a month ago and asked us to reschedule our christmas dinner at a discounted rate?! Taking no responsibility for their mistake! I have called numerous times and emailed to speak with someone as to why this happened and they are not returning any phone calls or messages. They ruined our Christmas dinner as we had no other choice for catering to order on Christmas Eve! DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM! Still attempting to contact with no response, imagine that happening to you on Christmas Eve?

I know what you're thinking, weren't you just at the D&R Depot? Yes, I was, but then I returned a couple weeks later and didn't regret my decision. My parents and I were coming back from spending a day in Rochester, and we decided to stop here after a couple other places that were recommended to us weren't open on a Sunday. We were seated immediately despite not having reservations. Every table had people seated. I ordered a sidecar and that was delicious. It was my first time experiencing this drink. I ordered the Pittsburgh salad and it was amazing. I don't know if anyone could have a bad experience here. My parents enjoyed their meals as well. A lady at another table ordered a Bloody Mary and it looked exceptional and included a lot of toppers. I have to order that the next time I go. Our waitress was accommodating and very nice. I ordered gluten free and she delivered a warm gluten free muffin for me, while my parents dined on their regular rolls and muffins. It was so good. A train rolled through while we were there, and that meant that the owner went around and delivered a wooden nickel to all who was there for a free dessert the next time they come for a meal. I had no idea that was a thing and it was really cool to experience the train and the wooden nickel. I'll probably be back soon because this is one of my favorite places and I like trains a lot. m

D&R Depot is a restaurant that was previously a train depot where travelers could stop and grab a bite to eat before continuing their journeys. Nowadays, it's an intimate restaurant that also provides services such as catering and the option of booking for various private events. I came for a privately booked service and there was food provided to the guests buffet style. For pasta, I tried their mac and cheese and pasta salad and both were pretty good! They also had a variety of wraps to choose from. I tried their turkey wrap and it was delicious! Side salads among other dishes were present as well. For dessert, I grabbed one of their chocolate chip cookies as well as one their rich brownies, which were excellent! If you are a fan of history and all things vintage, I think you should give this place a try!

Chocolate chip muffin

A very small unique restaurant with limited hours. In a train depot it is very attractive building inside and out. The food is excellent. I was served fresh roll and a chocolate chip muffin with my salad. The poppyseed dressing was house made, the tomatoes ripe and flavorful. The croutons seasoned and obviously house made. I had the vegetable pot pie. Full of gravy, broccoli, carrots, potatoes and other veggies it needed salt and pepper but when you prepare food for the public you should be cautious on the salt. The dish is also vegan with out the pie crust. Dessert was offered but I sadly passed. The next table had apple pie À la mode. It looked wonderful. I will be back.

Silverware and napkin wrapped in saran wrap

This restaurant is run by a family and gives you the feeling of home. It is in an old train depot and it still has the charm and the décor to go with the building. I went near the end of Covid-19 and they have your silverware wrapped in a cloth napkin, which was all wrapped in saran wrap. I loved this extra touch. Usually during Covid, restaurants just brought you things separate, but they kept with the tradition they always had with the nice napkin and silverware together. The menu is basic comfort food and they give you a basket of rolls and muffins for the table. They were homemade, fresh and warm. I ordered the Sliced Tenderloin on Wyck. The sandwich was so tender and cooked perfectly. It reminded me of having slices off a roast instead of the normal deli sliced slices that usually come on those type of sandwiches. The roll looked homemade, but I am not sure if it was. The fries were standard like everyone else. I used the restroom before I left since I was heading back home to Buffalo. I was a single stall that you could lock and had a shower curtain covering the area by the toilet, like a stall door. I loved having that extra bit of privacy included. It had old photos that I would guess is family photos hung up in there to give it the old time vibe the restaurant was going for. I would definitely return, and in cooler weather try the French Onion Soup.

This is a great local spot with history, you won't pay big bucks here but you will get some fun food combinations and excellent service.

We stopped by tonight and the Paella was great, but the chocolate cream pie was absolutely amazing! Hands down, best I ever had. Also, everyone did an outstanding job on dealing with the current health and safety challenges. Thanks for a great dining experience.

Old depot turned into restaurant

This place started out great and only got better. We were greeted by an older grandmother type hostess...i am guessing she was the owner but that set the stage for a wonderful dinner. It is a quaint place and utilized an old train depot wisely and the decor was perfect for this setting. The menu is large with many home made meals and very hard to choose from. But if you like pot pies they have a variety to pick. That is was peaked my husband's interest but ended up getting the meatloaf loaded with cheese and ham. He started with homemade soup ham and potatoes. Very good and creamy. I started with shrimp cocktail. 4 large shrimp split with lemon and cocktail sauce. I was looking for a surf and turf deal. So I had 2 small filets. Both our meals came with choice of potatoes and veggies. We chose mash with gravy and carrots. I did give this place 5 stars, keep in mind it was for the overall experience. A relaxing and enjoyable dinner. I wouldn't say this was the best filet I had but it was good. They take pride in their food and if you want that home cooked dinner feel this is the place. Potatoes were real mashed potatoes. Gravy thick and lumpy. Employees were absolutely wonderful and patient. They did have drinks and beer. But what I loved is the wine list. All local wineries. I think that is wonderful supporting NY wineries. You don't see that often in restaurants. Now desserts many different pies to choose from, cream puffs and sundaes. We chose strawberry shortcake. It was unbelievable. You would think it was June. Strawberries were so juicy and in a sugar sauce. The shortcake was homemade and doused with whipped cream-the real stuff. So glad we came across this place on our way home. We will be back just to try more things on the menu. Great place and great people!

The restaurant. It's so charming!!

This was such a cute restaurant! We found it through yelp and decided to give it a try. We were so glad we did! The atmosphere couldn't be more charming and quaint, the service was outstanding and the food was delicious! AND not only did they have a gluten free menu, but they also served us the most delicious zucchini muffins alongside the meal! I ordered the gluten free bean burger and GF fries. They took every precaution, and cooked the fries in separate oil to make sure not to cross contaminate. Big win!!! I also got an old fashioned gluten free, sugar free apple pie, which was so tasty too! My friend got the French toast chicken and sweet potato fries. They looked amazing and she said they were so good. I'll share some pics. I highly recommend this place and if I'm ever in the area again, I will definitely go back!!

Chx pot pie

Cool place. Old school train depot, lots of vintage nostalgia in the form of newspapers, etc. Pot pie was the filling in a bowl with a crusty disc on top. Not what I'm used to, but equally delicious (picture attached). Muffins weren't too sweet - excellent. Rolls weren't anything special. Great service, we enjoyed the meal for sure.

Salmon sandwich on a roll with lettuce and tomato and anside of fruit
Jaxs F.

I had the salmon sandwich with lettuce and tomatoes on a fresh roll for lunch with a side of fruit. It was soooooo good. There was a tangy sauce for the salmon. This restaurant always does it right.

Great fish and loved the sides!

What to get: Any of their incredible homemade ice cream flavours What else: The ice cream is homemade Anything else: Did I mention before, it's homemade? Was looking for a place to get the sh** beaten out of me. Came here. Thought it was called "Bruisers." Ended up with sensational ice cream instead. Here's the thing. A lot of ice cream places around here serve up Perry's. It's a local corporation that fills grocery stores with its signature flavours. It's pretty average, at best, although people in WNY seem to like it. But if you're going to go to an ice cream parlour and actually pay for an ice cream, why should it be the same sh** you get in the grocery store? Cut out the middle woman and get it right from the store, save some money. And yet most parlours in these parts do exactly that: buy Perry's from Wegmans or Tops, then sell it at a massive mark-up. I refuse to give those sorts of parlours more than a 4, and I usually give less. Then every now and again you find a gem. Cruiser's is that gem. Not a lot of people drive through LeRoy, NY these days, since most are on the pay-for-play Thruway I-90. But if you were to come East from Rochester on 490, and instead of entering the I-90, you just keep on going , you will soon be in LeRoy, named after a girl named Jennifer LeRoy, maybe. And here in LeRoy, tucked away and hidden on the main street west of the town, is Cruiser's. And it's the homemade ice cream you dreamed of. Was looking for a place to sit around and be pathetic. Came here. Thought it was called "Losers." Ended up with phenom ice cream instead. Owned by Eddie from Eddie And The Cruisers, and also a manufacturing plant for Cruise Missiles and the Cruise Control feature on cars, not to mention a shrine to the great funny-running 5-foot-4 bastion of Scientology, Tom Cruise, this little parlour is as good as any famous one with 1,000 reviews that you've tried in any of the big Yelp cities. I recommend the coffee mocha, the coffee bean, the bananas foster, and any other flavour they recommend. So, so, so deliciously good. It's a tragedy that it's not more popular and beloved with the kids of the region. A lot of people go to the Perry's places because those people are suckers for brand names and don't understand the concept of homemade and local ice cream. Anyone can sell buckets of Perry's. The woman at Cruiser's was telling me how, because they cost a few cents more than the Perry's places (because they make all their own sh** and don't even make much of a profit on it), people complain about the prices. The prices are dirt cheap! The portions are enormous! And some people just don't get it. Do yourself a favour and get down to Cruiser's and try the ice cream. Thanks. But yeah. Was looking for a place to sleep with someone. Literally. Came here. Not literally. Thought it was called "Snoozers." Ended up with yummmmy ice cream instead.
