As if it's not hard enough during Covid to find bike parts and services. Going into this place makes it 10 times harder. Starting off you walk into an uncomfortable and unwelcoming feeling due to sales persons that are uneasy to speak to and unknowledgeable of product or services they provide. Getting to the back counter it gets even worse. You have to stand there for at least 5-10 minutes while nobody looks up at you, says anything or disregards your presence as they tap on the computer or makes as if they do not see you. Finally when someone decides to help you that person is rude and discourteous, almost as if you are bothering them with your business! Ive had work done at this store a few times and spent a couple hundred dollars each time only because of their convenience of proximity to my house. But every time I've been there I was met with frustration and rudeness only by their part. Every time promising myself never to walk in there again. Even sent a friend in there for a part because the place is so unpleasant. There's no being courteous. Or there's no smiles. Everyone there is looks in a bad mood , almost as if being forced to even be there. I later found out the rudest person in the place is the owner. This guy acts as if my business is a hassle or he is above providing friendly service. He is always quick to be short and very sarcastic. That Being said, he has no business being in contact with customers. He belongs in a cubicle, in a office basement somewhere tapping on a keyboard. And Definitely not dealing with people. This is my very first yelp Review I've ever made, just because I feel so strongly about how poorly he conducted himself with me and customers I've seen there. I wish I could give this guy a zero star rating because this place really sucks . I will never ever bring my business there again. Only reason I gave them a 2 star was because of Rudy. He helped us throughout the process but if you're looking for genuine customer service you won't find it here. Emailed the store 2 days prior to coming in. Ben (the owner or manager) responded VERY fast and seemed very professional. We come in about 11am and there were about 4 guys on the floor. Rudy helped us but really couldn't call the shots when asked about discounts if we were to purchase more than 1 bike and other accessories. He just kept referring to asking Ben and coming back later when he gets in. They fixed my son's brake ($30), not sure how much it would normally cost but fine whatever $30. We get a Specialized bike and helmet for my husband. I shoot an email to Ben in the store asking about a deal he can cut if we get a second bike and other additional accessories, no response. A few minutes after, I notice a disgruntled gentleman walking into the store. My husband asked Rudy if that was Ben and sure enough it was. My husband (who comes from a business world and isn't rude at all) tries to talk to Ben and first thing Ben says, "Step back man, you're too close". My husband was 6 feet from Ben (or behind the tables) and really, is that how you talk to customers? My husband continues to ask about getting another bike ($600 value) and other accessories so total about $1000 but Ben (if you are the owner or manger) with the most rudest responses said "No". Not even willing to work with my husband or trying to make a decent sale. I guess customer service isn't a top priority at this location. **SHRUGS** Definitely not a fan and won't be coming back here after my husband's warranty is up. read more

This bike shop is a little in the pricey side! I had a gear cable and the gear box replaced on my bike and it was damn near $100...? How about I had a tune up on my bike at the Peddler in Albany which included front/ rear brakes, new handle bar covers, two new tires,inter tubes and ALL of that was STILL cheaper than the prices at CyclePath...REALLY? And to top it off The cost of labor at CyclePath was $25?! I understand that it is bicycle and not an automobile... I just don't think the workers at this shop know the difference. Overall the work was completed and everything seems to be fine... I definitely won't return. read more

This place is big enough that you can test ride their bikes within the store. A good place to get your repairs and adjustments. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They don't have a wide range of different bike accessories like bike seats, horns, flares, or traffic lights. They do have a lot of bikes! You'll most likely find parking right out in front of the store. If not, then you can find parking across the street where the Longs Drugs is. read more

My first time getting into bikes - decided to get a good bike- chose Cyclepath and wished I had not - the customer service was horrible - they treated me like they did not want me in their store - bought a bike from them online ($980) went to pick it up and they "needed" to see the credit card I purchased it with online - well of course it's home but I have my CDL - no dice - I don't mind that they follow the rules - but in doing so I felt like I was being treated like a leper. I would seriously give This place a 0 star but I can't DONT GO UNLESS YOU WANT UNFINISHED WORK" I brought my bike in on a Saturday about five hours before they closed the guy told me they would've been done within an hour to replace the Derailer but then I never got a text and then since they don't open the following day the Monday I was texted around 30 minutes of the store opening saying it was ready so I came to pick it up and right away just before even riding it the derailer was never adjusted so I went back they adjusted it and then again I try to ride it and right when I got on the Shifter wasn't adjusted correctly that I wasn't going to the last the biggest sprocket on the gears and I went back and they supposedly fixed it again and then told me they would charge me for adjusting the next time and now I'm noticing another problem that the chain is extremely loose which means either they put the wrong part on it or they never adjust the chain to either shorten it or enlarge it to the correct derailer The worst service I have ever seen please don't go here if you need your bike repaired I will be bringing this in to another bike shop for fear if I let them fix it they'll mess up again like they have over 3 times already read more

Came here to buy a spare tube, and I replaced the punctured one while I was at it. It was flat by the time I got home, but figured the mechanic just didn't fill it up -no big deal. Turns out the valve was completely bent, which was releasing air immediately. No spare valves, so had to use the spare tube I just bought. There's no way the mechanic wouldn't have noticed this, but sent me off anyway. If they can't even replace a tube correctly, I don't recommend you go here for any type of maintenance. read more

Glad to find a bike shop open during covid times ! They have a pretty good stock of specialized brand bikes. I booked the bike over phone with my details and arrived a couple of hours later to find the bike tuned and ready to go. I have been back twice to tune the bike and it has been a great experience, with the guys finding issues and fixing them effectively. 2 things to be prepared for when you arrive, there is a sink to wash hands before entering and approach the staff directly ( because they are usually talking behind the counter and don't greet you at arrival, well ! ) read more

First off, this place is super clean. Right when you walk in they have a sink for you to wash your hands in (required). Ben was so helpful and knowledgeable about all the products in the store. We have been looking everywhere for a child trailer and a bike. He explained all the pros and cons of the different products we were looking at so we could choose what was best for us. My husband and I just bought our first adult bikes to get more active, and the staff at the store were super nice and helpful. First off, everyone wore a mask and they were very good about enforcing anybody coming in to wash their hands. Then Justin helped us out a lot in choosing a bike and even gave me pointers on how to mount the bike after failing many times. After choosing bikes and a bike rack, we paid and then we installed the bike rack while they tuned up the bikes to make sure they were good to go. After installing the bike, Ben came out, double checked it for us, and even gave us some free rubber ties to keep the wheels in place. Then he showed and helped us secure the bikes on the rack. As first time bike buyers, I was very impressed with the helpfulness and kindness of the staff, especially considering the negative reviews. I highly recommend them. read more

Bad experience--STAY AWAY! Like many other reviewers, I was promised one thing, came back and was told that the owner changed his mind--VERY UNETHICAL! Big store but prices were a little high, which is why I negotiated in the first place. I didn't get any repairs so I can't comment about that. I should have read the reviews first but my usual shop was closed. No response from the owners to these serious complaints! Go to Eden Bicycles, 5 min drive away. If you call and are placed on hold for a long time the curly haired kid is making fun of you to customers using foul and obscene language; I was that customer and called him on it. The kid needs to be fired or retrained. It's a shop where you could have really good service (the Latino employee) or get a crappy experience with staff who are rude, careless, and try to condescend with trivial bike knowledge. Three visits for the same repair; all three bad to terrible experiences! read more

It is true about their sales staff, kind of being cocky. The Asian dude I think is the owner and Yes, he thinks he is better. I have owned this Gary Fisher mountain bike for past 13 years. Probably put on it 5000 miles or so. I took it in couple of years ago to this place for slight overhaul. New chain, new gang, shifter line. The guy in maintenance department did magnificent job. It was like new. I do this 10 mile rune sometimes once a week, twice or three times but sometimes once a moth as work and weather allows me. it's on city streets on side walks dealing with jumping up and down on curbs. After couple of years of riding the chain started skipping, shifting wasn't as good I still could ride it but not great. I came in last Sunday right after 11am. I would say I put at least 500 miles since last overhaul, maybe even more but not sure. I spotted the same dude in fix it up department. He said his name is Nick. I asked them if if he could could work on it and do it before 1pm since I wanted to go for bike ride on beautiful Sunday afternoon. He said He'll call me when it's ready. At 12:30pm he called me said it was ready. And READY IT WAS. Perfect again.Gear shifting is better than ever. Like new maybe even better. It was little over hundred bucks. Man, my bike is so perfect again. Nick you Rock Dude. I hope the owner knows how fortunate he is to have you there. All the best. read more

I hate to write this review because i generally like the bike mechanics that work here but the sales staff is pretty bad. I've come in before to have a few things tightned here and there and the bike mechanics are generally happy to do it for little to no cost. Unfortunately I came in tonight because I was having a malfunction with my rear cog getting a little loose. The asian guy working said it would cost $15 for a job that would have taken all of 45 seconds to do. So this 1 star is for him because now I have to go on amazon and buy the tool at a whopping $3 and do it myself. Will definitely be recommending other bike shops in the area from now on. read more

I didn't want to come here at first, based on many of the reviews I read on here, but my husband said he's been here several times, and never had any problems. So after visiting two other bike shops, we stopped at this one. The guy who helped me out (Chris, I think) was so helpful and had great suggestions for me. I'm a beginner rider, and want to do some leisurely riding mostly on streets and easy trails. He was the first person who suggested a cruiser, since I'm not looking to do any heavy riding, and it made so much sense when he explained it. I ended up buying a cruiser from them that day. They have such a huge selection of bikes, including Mountain, Road, Hybrid, and even BMX. The other two shops only carried Mountain and Road bikes, and a few Hybrids, and their shops were a quarter the size of Cyclepath. Plus they give complimentary check-ups a month and a year after you buy the bike from them. I would highly suggest trying this bike shop out. I'm not sure how the other sales people were, but Chris was over the top helpful to me. read more

What a great cycle store. Staff is extremely helpful. They show all various options, make recommendations, strive to understand what type of cycling your wanting to do. All price ranges. Bought some new pedals for both stationary bike and for mountain bikes as well as some great bike shoes. Having the bike shoes that clamp into the pedals is a world of difference on the stationary bike. Can't wait to try them out on the mountain bikes once am used to clamping in and out. Ben at CyclePath is awesome. He was so helpful and really did an amazing job. Bought a Jamis Aurora Elite bike for my cross country trip. Ben made suggestions, never pressured me or over sold me. I over sold myself a few times. Did my fitting today and was amazed in the time, detail and effort the staff at CyclePath took and did. Can't say too much about all the staff but Ben is great. Fair, honest and gas so much pride in his job. I can't say enough about this business. They deserve ten stars. Best service at fair pricing. Super friendly and knowledgeable. We arrived with two young kids in tow, and the owner pulled down two bikes to let the kids ride around the store while we shopped for a new bike for me. I needed to be fitted and figure out which bike would work and Carol pulled out several bikes for me to try and we found the perfect one. She was no pressure and understood what would be best for my situation. Lots of selection and all the bells and whistles are there. The guys in the back were tuning up a ton of bikes for customers who were coming in and out of the store the whole time we were there. Also very friendly and helpful every time we have called. I bought some gear here. They have pretty much all you need as long as you're not particular about brand. They carry only Specialized helmets and OnGuard locks. I didn't get a look at their other accessories cause I had to get in and out of there. The store is nicely set up and neat. The prices are reasonable and the staff is very friendly. Immediate adjacent parking is a bit limited. But you'll be fine parking a across the street either at the indoor lot next to the theater or CVS. In a market for a new bike. I want to start by telling you that I had such a bad experience here that it motivated me to start my yelp account .Possibly the worst service I've ever had the misfortune to experience. I was made to wait around for quite awhile, even though the indolent so-called employees obviously saw me. Eventually I was greeted by an unkempt man who decided to let me know that I was unwelcome there with one phrase,"I'm tellin' you right now, at least a hundred dollars to even touch your bike." I have been going to this shop for the past 3 years and have always been impressed with the customer service and the accessibility of the staff and management to answer questions. Bike selection is on par with other top bike shops in the Bay Area. Apparel selection is limited but, they have always been consistent in having core brands and are willing to do special orders. Repair service is great, they finish the job on time and right the first time. Worth the money! I will be a customer for years to come! read more

Worse place to order a bike or do business with. I purchased a bike online with my virtual credit card. (Klarna) came in over a week later for the guy that owns it to tell me he can't give me the bike if I don't have a physical credit card. I tried to explain the Klarna credit card and how it takes from my debit card. I offered my debit card to put on file but he would only refund the credit card and use my debit (which I didn't want to do) he refuse to work with me or look at the actual transactions and card on my phone. Arrogant and unwelcoming owner. Will not do business here again. Although I am A Hayward residence for the past 30yrs and like to do all my business in Hayward I'd rather go outta town now. Once again this store dominates with its friendly service and good prices. This time, the front derailleurs on my Specialized Epic ("Disraeli Gears" if you're a Cream fan) got twisted out of alignment. I have no idea how that happened because I was riding at night. But their service guy managed to have it restored it in 15 minutes. (Can't do that on the internet) I've always had excellent service and also picked up some very useful accessory items along the way. Perhaps, most significantly, they're open EVERY day from 10am. First - I start my review by saying that I do not fit the profile of most bicyclists: I am a black, older female who is overweight. I say this because often when I walk into a bicycle shop I am not acknowledged. It is a problem that many women have. But I am a certified by the League of American Bicyclists to teach bicycle safety. I have my own business where I teach bicycle safety. I own 6 bicycles including a track bike (I am certified to ride on the velodrome) I AM an experienced cyclist. I stopped by Cyclepath to get advice on where I could ride in the area. I asked if they had bike path maps and they had none. I explained to the sales guy that I was in Hayward to train my niece who was planning on competing in a triathlon. I also let him know that I had a vintage road bike I was letting her use. I was also planning on introducing her to a clip-less system. Then the ball game started. Let's see if this guy would strike out. Strike 1 - He said: I don't use clip-less pedals and I beat all those guys up the hills around here with their clip-less pedals. Strike 2 - When I asked him where to ride he said: I'm sure you're looking for some gnarly hills with 3000 feet of climbing in 2 miles (okay I'm exaggerating)! No, I want a relatively flat area where it's a separated bike lane so I can teach her proper technique for starting, stopping and pedaling, etc. Oh, said he, I don't know where that would be. Strike 3 - He said after asking me her height: I have the perfect bike for her when she's ready to buy. He took me over to a $3500 Specialized road bike. Wait a minute! Didn't i just tell him I was lending her a bike? BTW he never asked her age and if she had a budget to buy a bike. STRIKE OUT. GAME OVER. I will recommend that my niece steer clear of this shop. Too bad because the shop carried a good selection of bicycling goodies. Time to search for a bicycle shop in Hayward where I am treated with respect. It will be interesting to see if this store responds to this review. I would like to think that one sales person needs training instead of this review representing the culture of the store. read more

In the beginning I was a little skeptical about this store because of the average review rating that they have. But now after being a customer of this store for almost a year I really don't understand all the negative reviews that people wrote. I purchased my Mountain Bike from this store in Aug. 2014. Ben Schweng gave me the best deal on my 2014 Specialized StumpJumper FSR Elite than 12 other stores that spoke to in the Bay Area. Absolutely everybody of the store staff are super nice people, very helpful, definitely knowledgeable and pleasure to work with. After a purchase of my bike I've been in this store for at least 10 more times for different reasons like a question or info that I want to know, bike tune up, bike adjusted, small repairs, ordering new bike equip, new gear, new tires etc. And every time I walked out of the store with a very positive feeling and it doesn't even matter who assisted me at that time. a few years ago I saw this store and walked in and was pretty amazed at the bikes and accessories and the prices of them. I noticed they had a shop and asked some questions that they answered about my bike. I have a specialized hard rock that needed a tune up and some small upgrades. They took a look at it while doing the tune up and suggested a few things which I did, and as I like to work on my bike myself I will still bring my bike back for more work as well. a few months later and in the market for a new bike for my girlfriend and son this was the first spot id check out. purchasing a bike for my girlfriend was simple as they pointed us in the right direction and narrowed our decision down to what she was using the for. My son however wanted a bike that was not there and I looked for several days at various places before realizing I should just ask them if they can get it and in fact they did!!! Overall this is my new go to cycle shop. Ive never had an issue with any of the staff, in fact they are all very pleasant to me. I suggest this shop to all my friends. read more
