The pharmacy lost my prescription and no one apologized or acknowledge me standing there for an additional 20 minutes while the looked for it. Once my prescription was found they rung me up at the cash register and did not say a word. My doctor sent my prescription to a different pharmacy and I needed to get it transferred to this CVS. David is the pharmacist in the Drop Off department and I approached him with my request. He kept arguing I needed to speak to the other pharmacy and that they will send it to CVS. So, I called the other pharmacy who told me that I was misinformed (hinting David was wrong) and that the correct procedure is for the dispensing pharmacy(CVS) to call the other pharmacy. This was contradictory. So, after a struggle, I convinced both to speak to each other by putting the guy on speaker. David initially gave excuses but his demeanor completely changed once the other pharmacist spoke to him directly. He found my information, took my contact details and agreed to work on my prescription. I, then, went to the front desk to write a complaint. The front desk staff was really nice and she got me in touch with the manager (Anthony), who was also nice, listened to my issue and apologized. I recently had a very distressing experience at your store while attempting to purchase a toy for my toddler. When I decided to return one of the items, the two staff members on duty were unhelpful and suggested I go complain to corporate instead of assisting me.The manager in charge displayed a lack of professionalism by denying my return and being dismissive of my concerns. He seemed more focused on asserting his authority rather than listening to my situation. It was disheartening to feel discriminated against and treated rudely in what should have been a positive shopping experience.As I left the store, I overheard the two staff members discussing me in a way that was both unprofessional and unkind. This is a terrible place. I went to pick up a prescription for my daughter, who was running a high fever due to a suspected infection. The prescription was sent over by another CVS, because that first CVS didn't have it but their system showed this CVS did. I got into the slow pick-up line and when I got to the front I got yelled at that I should be in the drop-off line. Why? Because this CVS demands that you go to drop-off if it's the first time you're getting a prescription filled there, even if you've gotten a prescription filled at other CVSs before (what's the point of being a national pharmacy?!). At the drop-off line the pharmacist told me he did not have the medication. I asked him to explain, and he refused to clarify. I went to a third CVS, who did have the medication and were willing to process it, but the second CVS (this one) had to first transfer it over. However, nobody could get this CVS on the phone, and the pharmacy techs from the other two CVSs (the first one, and the last one) both told me that this CVS is notorious for never picking up the phone. To summarize: terrible policies, rude and uncaring pharmacist, and they never pick up the phone. Go elsewhere. read more

Terrible customer service nearly every time I come and the staff is always standing around as if it's not their job to assist customers. Tonight I actually asked for help from an employee (after attempting to be checked out by an employee and stood there for quite awhile while two employees did not even acknowledge me so I gave up) vs the self checkout and was and told to use another self checkout kiosk. When I asked why she's couldn't assist me, she said she was busy. I'm not gonna say she wasn't busy...but she didn't appear to be busy and there wasn't anyone else in the store. How does cvs manage to stay in business? What does CVS stand for? I'm certain no one know- consumer value. For a company serving clients since the 60s it's sad to see how little service they aim to provide. Filling a prescription is an ordeal and never quick and easy. Their main business is filling medicines but staff is overworked and often rude. Little to no organization and the employees could care less whether you get your medication or not. I really appreciate how they have free delivery especially during these unprecedented times. At first they passed out fliers in the stores after a purchase advertising how it would keep everyone safer if we used delivery and encouraged us to download their app. In general I don't like downloading store apps unless it's absolutely necessary but the CVS app has proven useful. Figuring out the user interface isn't that bad for managing prescriptions and the payment process is pretty intuitive. Although they say it may take a few days for the prescription to ship via mail I've usually received it by the next day. There was one time I even received it the same day. I've updated my insurance both in person and by phone. Both worked fine. read more

I don't like CVS. Locally, the staff is rude because they have been unable to consolidate four extra cards linked to my phone number. I certainly didn't open four Extra Care Accounts, and I've been trying to resolve this issue all year. Checking out takes 20 minutes or more, so they frequently attend to other customers while I wait to use the coupons and credits on my Extra Care Plus account. The pharmacy staff at 4309 Connecticut is helpful, but one of my prescriptions needs to be picked up in Maryland, where my doctor has a practice. Although the Maryland pharmacy said they would refill the prescription four days ago, they just ordered it for two days from now. I called several other CVS stores in the area to see if they had it in stock but met with either no response or rudeness, particularly from a pharmacist at the CVS on Arlington Blvd. in Bethesda. Finally, I visited Brookville Pharmacy, an independent pharmacy in Chevy Chase, and I was amazed at the difference! I will transfer all my prescriptions to that pharmacy. It was such a pleasant contrast to the rudeness of CVS employees. read more

My doctor called in my antidepressant on 11/1. I went to pick it up on 11/4 and they were out of stock. I asked them to check if another location had it, they said I would have to call around myself. As you can see, I was on hold for 42 minutes today to see if it was back in stock yet, was on hold for 30 minutes the two times I called earlier today and I had to give up every time. How am I supposed to call around at other CVS locations when they're just as impossible to reach? This monopoly pharmacy chain is a joke and does not care about their patients. The people are rude and lack compassion. With strike me as unusual is the unwillingness to offer any assistance to point you in the right direction. I have been trying to get one prescription filled for nearly a month. There is no possible way CVS can research other CVS to see if they have this prescription. Neither is there any way of knowing if the inventory is coming soon. Just complete an adequacy and managing medicines and needs any lack of unconcerned it's like they get money or paychecks and nothing else really matters. Still terrible. If I could give a negative rating, I would. I signed up for an appointment for a flu and covid vaccine. After I got to the store and checked in, I waited for over 30 mins before someone helped me. The man working on the pharmacy told me I wasn't on the COVID vaccine list and therefore he could not give it to me. I literally showed him my appointment verification email where it said COVID-19 and he refused to acknowledge its validity and would not give me my vaccine. This store is terrible and needs to be shut down for pure incompetence. read more

I dropped off my prescription at 3:30pm. I was told there was a two-hour wait. I came back 3 hours later. Not ready. I was told it would be another 20 minutes. I'm bumping my review up a star because service was superb. My cashier was friendly and addressed me by name. I came here because for some reason I couldn't place a photo order online. This location is actually closest to my home. Also the other CVS's coupon machine is almost always not working. It's a pain when you count on the extra savings. I'll still go there to get my prescriptions since it's closer to my doctor's office, but I'll start shopping here, especially since District Taco is opening in early 2019! read more

This CVS is really hit or miss. If you're going there real quick just to get a thing or two it's OK. I go to it because it's closest to me, but I typically try not to go. It usually has everything I'm looking for, but it's really expensive whenever I walk out of there. Don't even both to go to the cash register to pay or you'll be there for a while. There's usually only one person with the line being 5 people long. I always just go to self check out and hope that the light doesn't blink and have to wait for someone to help. The pharmacy line is very slow and sometimes wait time can be on the slow side even if you're given a time. I get my meds here a lot out of convenience but I probably shouldn't. The line is always super long, no one knows where it starts for some reason so people just cut, and then they can sometimes take forever to get your stuff. Most of the people that are working there are not too friendly. I don't remember anyone being outright mean to me at the pharmacy, so I guess that's what keeps me coming back. read more

This CVS is pretty convenient for me so I'm in and out of here often. They usually have whatever it is I'm looking for thankfully. I don't think there's been an occasion where I needed something that wasn't on the shelves. There is usually someone there to welcome you when you first walk in which is nice. You can also typically find someone walking the floor which is great in case you need help finding something. The downside here is there's no USAA ATM here like at other CVS locations. Also, I tried twice to get cash back and the machine acted like it went through but when the cashier looked at the receipt it didn't indicate to give me cash back. So at this point I'm not sure if I've been had for $20 bucks. For this reason I can't give it five stars. read more

I chose this CVS because the parking is easy and it's on my way home from my doctor. But after multiple awful experiences, I cannot use it again. For starters, they can never "find" my prescription in their system. Every time I go, I have to call my doctor from the pharmacy and confirm that they called it in and received confirmation it went through; only then do they somehow "find" it in their system. Most recently, I went to get a prescription for an albuterol inhaler; my need was quite urgent. I was told it would be ready in 20 minutes, so I did some other shopping, then sat down to wait. After 10 minutes of waiting, the pharmacist told me she had tried to call me (there is no record of this on my phone), and that there was an issue with my insurance so I should try back in the afternoon. That afternoon I called back and got an automated notice that it would be ready by noon the next day. The next day comes, noon passes, and I get no notice the prescription was filled. Finally I tried calling the pharmacy - I was on hold for 15 minutes before giving up. I called back and reached the front of the store; I told them I was trying to reach the pharmacy, they transferred me back, and I spent another 20 minutes on hold with the pharmacy. I called again and this time asked the front store person who answered to physically walk back to the pharmacy and ask them to answer the phone; he told me he would, then put me on hold for another 25 minutes. Realizing the store was closing within an hour, I finally hung up and drove down there in a torrential rainstorm. There was a long line of people at the pharmacy, and multiple pharmacists working; there was also an automated voice repeating "one pharmacy call," which all the pharmacists and cashiers were ignoring. I confirmed (by calling the pharmacy while standing there) that this was actually the ringtone alerting them someone was calling; they must use this ringtone because it's easier to ignore than an actual phone ringing. After waiting at least 10 minutes, I finally spoke to a pharmacist, who looked me up in the system, said there was no problem with my prescription or my insurance, and told me to get in the back of the long line for the cashier and my prescription would be ready when I got to the front. When I finally got to the front, the cashier told me my prescription was not ready, and that I'd have to come back tomorrow, since the pharmacy was closing in 3 minutes. It is a miracle I did not completely lose my sh*t at that point; I calmly explained that I was not leaving until I got my prescription, that it was urgent, and that the pharmacist told me it would be ready. She then told me to go speak to the pharmacist again. He asked my name and DOB, looked me up, and said, "oh you're the person I just spoke to? yeah your prescription is ready." Then he sent me back to the cashier to pay for it. This is only the most recent example. On another instance about a year ago, I filled a prescription for antibiotics for my son. After waiting an excessively long time (again with them not "finding" the prescription), leaving, then returning that afternoon, I finally received it. When I got home and opened the bottle, I discovered that it was powder - they had not actually mixed the medication to make it liquid. I called and they basically said oops, I guess we forgot, and told me to drive back so they could mix it. As a working mom trying to balance work from home with a sick kid, I did not have time to schlep my sick kid all the way back to the CVS for a third time that day. After consulting a doctor friend and googling the water-to-powder ratio, I ended up just mixing it myself. In short, if I could give this CVS pharmacy a zero stars, I would. The people working there are generally nice folks, but the incompetence and mismanagement is inexplicable and inexcusable. I'll be changing pharmacies. read more

I understand being short staffed during a pandemic and helping customers directly in front of you is crucial, but those who rely on using the telephone to speak to a pharmacist are important as well. I have called about an unexpected change to a medication only to be greeted with an abrupt, non-recorded "CVS Pharmacy please hold" and placed on hold. After holding for 20 minutes I hung up and tried again only to get the same treatment, but after 13 minutes I was somehow cut off. Unfortunately, I just can't take my business elsewhere so hopefully this pharmacy will start giving ALL their customers the consideration we deserve and be more receptive to their callers. read more

They look at every customer with distrust and I have seen one guy ask people to open their bags and empty contents in front of them - just creepy. But keep in mind the crowd here gets super ghetto too, especially late at night. The only reason I come here is because it's so close to home, otherwise I wouldn't bother! Their isles always look like a hurricane just shook the place down, and their inventory Check is abysmal! They also keep a lot of their stuff locked down, so if you need to look at it, good luck finding someone to help you - teeth whitening products for instance - who keeps that under locks??! Not sure how this place got two stars but I love this CVS! It's located across the street from Silver Spring Metro station next to giant and I actually sometimes go way out of my way to patronize the CVS location because the customer service is phenomenal. There's always someone there with a smile on their face welcoming you as you enter, and I honestly have never received bad customer service from this place! If you read any of my reviews, you know I like to go where my business is appreciated and this place surely delivers! I know it's a CVS, but sometimes we're not feeling that great when we're going to the pharmacy so it's always a welcome surprise to have people who work for a place that seemed genuinely happy to help and if they're not happy they certainly don't show it. The CVS is also stocked with all of my pharmacy needs for the most part it's clean and well organized and I'm extra care rewards member so that always helps. I've been going to this cvs for 10 years and rarely have a negative experience. The staff is helpful, the store is clean and well organized and the items I want are usually in stock. The one thing I can think of is they need more shopping baskets. They only have 2 or 3 in the store that the staff uses to stock the shelves. read more

I would give this place probably 2.5 stars because of so many reasons!!! They're always understaffed. And if there are staff in the building; they're normally weird, awkward, not friendly, and task oriented. Seems like they're there to stock the shelves not actually helping customers whenever needed. Stores is always so not clean. I don't know if they even dust the beauty aisles. I feel disgusted buying any beauty items from there. And finally, pharmacists are just some jokers there. Most of their answers are "check maybe aisle blah blah..." And not much actual help that we need. I think they're last on putting on their promotions too because they wouldn't have the same promotion advertised as the cvs downtown. I wish I could give them zero stars. I have never seen a pharmacy operate so unprofessionally and deliver such horrible customer service as the CVS at Silver Spring MD (Blair Plaza). I actually had my insurance company (Blue Cross) on my phone with me trying to contact them and they put us on hold 2x and hung up and we had to wait over an hour to reach someone in the pharmacy about my urgent prescription. they basically said it was an inconvenience and offered no solutions when I needed this medicine asap as prescribed by my doctor. In the past it has taken 2 weeks for my prescriptions to be filled and I've waited on hold on the phone for 40 minutes with them and every one I speak to tells me something different. I will absolutely be changing pharmacies as I can't do this much longer with this CVS pharmacy and the unprofessional staff. read more
