CVS at this location has improved their customer service. They have a ton of employees and they were friendly and helpful today. I was pointed in the direction of the item I was looking to purchase. I ended up buying my daughter 2 Pez and my three little kid friends candy bars . If I'm near this location again I'd definitely return. They are well stocked. read more

I'm a prescriber. I called CVS three times, left three detailed messages and got no call-back after two days. I called Duane-Reed (Walgrens), got a real person at once and my prescription ready within the hour. My review is strictly geared to the pharmacy as I won't buy anything much in CVS as it's way too expensive. For toiletries go to face Value and Beyond on 90th Street. The only reason I give it 2 stars is because the employees for the most part in the front are overworked, but very nice, so it not their fault that this pharmacy sucks. They hardly ever answer the phone. I've even been in there and watched the employees ignore the phone that's saying 3 pharmacy calls, etc. On the other hand, they call you to the point of harassment even at 9:am on a Sunday morning (including the day after daylight savings time change): you have prescriptions waiting, do you want a refill?, etc... I'd like to commend some very competent employees: Denise, Marguerite, Jackie, Tanisha, Glendya, but some of the others are horrendous. I don't want to fault someone who's learning English, but why is this person working customer service especially during peak times with long lines, so you have to keep repeating yourself. Twice there was one different pill in my prescription that didn't belong there. No one had an explanation other than they did an investigation and the robot didn't do it...implying that I'm lying or "I'm mistaken". They contact your doctors incessantly for new prescriptions on drugs that you already have refills on file, even several times for the same drug. I can't even count the number of times, I've been given misinformation by a pharmacist there...drug not covered by insurance, we're out of stock, but it will be here on Tuesday, did I say Tuesday, I meant Thursday, you have no more refills. Then on Thursday, no one put in the order. Or how many times a pharmacist has talked down to me like I didn't know what I was talking about. read more

Don't come here!!! If I could give 0 stars I would. Extremely slow and unhelpful. They clearly have communication issues with the urgent care facilities that send them prescriptions after hours (their specialty as they are a 24 hr pharmacy). But instead of resolving them with the other providers they take it out on patients. Why would I make up that I have a prescription coming? I was given a run around for 1 hour to wait and find out they had it in the system the whole time with a slight misspelling. At 11pm. Was at this pharmacy from 11pm to 12am waiting. Next time I will wait until the next morning to go to a normal pharmacy with any sort of customer service at all. read more

Dropped in to grab a bottle of water as I was walking by. Easy to pay with the self checkout kiosks. That's pretty much it. read more

I believe all the one star reviews. Tony the pharmacist states and I quote "I can do whatever I want" instead of apologizing. Another customer was waiting on the side as they couldn't find his prescription. Another called and stated they had left a voicemail but never received a response to which the pharmacist acknowledges that he heard the voicemail but didn't response. He left the counter twice. Was waiting 20mins for him to look up why my prescription was on hold when another customer walked in and he decided to help her. I say, that I've been waiting and I was here first. Filling a prescription at this location is nearly impossible. I have waiting in line 4 times for the same prescription, which they agreed they had, and could not get it filled, each time being told there was some other issue. I have also left 5 voice mails and counting without a call back. It has been 6 weeks since I first tried to fill the prescription. Other CVS' in NYC and elsewhere I have always found responsive. Oh well this story does not start out to bad. This CVS use to be great shelves were neat and full and the people helpful and the pharmacy helpful and courteous. About 3 years ago I don't know what happened is always in disarray nothing is stocked none of the staff has any knowledge of product or what they carry. The pharmacy that is a whole other story besides being out of everything a pharmacy should have they are rude inconsiderate. I herd them tell a elderly lady that needed her medication for a trip had the prescription and I am not sure what the problem was with the prescription but they told her that they could not give it to her and they refused to call the doctor that sent it in to them. Also told her that the insurance would not pay for it she need cash and gave her some astronomical number that she could not pay and would not call the insurance company, even though she told them she spoke to them and it had been cleared to go through they still refused and rudely said next so when I went up to ask for what I need she told me they were out with out even looking. She was more interested in talk to the girl in the back about what they were going to do when they got off work. Now do you remember the older woman I was talking about well she came back from sitting in the waiting area and she had her doctor on the phone and she had a email from the insurance company they refused to take the call or look at the email. This woman told them she needed the medication or she could get very sick she told the doctor they refused to take the call. I guess he tried to call the phone in the pharmacy and the woman let them know he was going to call the pharmacy line. The answer the woman got was we don't answer that phone anyway so it's just a waste of the lady so why don't you just go somewhere else with your problem I am done with you have a good trip. And all this while I am waiting to have her look for what I need. So I guess she was so overwhelmed with doing nothing she told the friend in back she was going on break and someone else can deal with the line for the pharmacy that was all the way down the isle by now. I do go back there every now and then to see if it has gotten any better no just worse dirty out dated products like milk stuff like that also god forbid you need help getting something out of one of the cabinets oh they will come in there own sweet time and act like you got them out of bed and there cat pissed in there corn flakes and you are just a bother. I actually heard one of the girls behind the counter says she doesn't come here to work. She comes here for a paycheck.so CVS doesn't need my money so I don't give it to them it's sad that CVS doesn't care enough to train there people in customer service and customer care because I know what they advertise is that their pharmacist and employees are knowledgeable maybe at a different one. read more

Really horrible customer service at the Pharmacy here, speaking as a former CVS and Walgreens and a current Healthcare Employee. From lying that the phones were "broken" when they were shut off, to cashiers/techs refusing to let me speak to a pharmacist over the phone about my medication. Pharmacy cashiers talk to their colleagues and look at their phones while I stand there waiting for them to help me with prescriptions. Avoid "Ana" at all costs behind the register or consultation counter of the Pharmacy, (if that's even her real name). Seems like she would do better behind a regular register, and I am saying that in the nicest way possible. No empathy there. read more

This is the worst pharmacy ever. They don't answer the phone, don't prioritize getting you your medicine, and have a bad attitude.

I can list all the negatives about this CVS before I could name a positive. Even if you call at three in the morning, it will send your call to voicemail. It doesn't even give me the option to wait on hold anymore so now you have to walk to the location stand on long lines. What would have taken 5 minutes on the phone now it takes an hour. read more

What do you think ? I call the pharmacy, it takes over a half hour to have someone pick up, they tell me a Rx is ready. Two days later -- plenty of time to actually fill the Rx -- I go there. Not only is nothing ready, they have no idea what I am talking about -- this is a maintenance medicine, we pick it up on a regular basis -- so I have to wait for the pharmacist. The line is long, 40 minutes later, she tells me it has not been filled, but they will work on it. Fifteen minutes later, nothing. I call out to someone in the back and she says, "I will fill it now." That takes another 15 minutes -- and we are talking about counting out 30 pills, nothing really complicated. When I finally get it, I ask where calomine lotion and cheesecloth are. The pharmacy clerk gives me slightly incorrect information about the calomine, but I find it, but the cheesecloth -- supposed to be in the same general area -- is nowhere to be seen. I ask a salesperson who replies, "Oh, we don't carry cheesecloth !" I could have been hunting for this forever....since one employee was sure they had it. CVS needs to employ more people, train them in the products the store carries and not lie to people on the phone when they are checking in Rxs are ready. The place is always packed, why are people not going elsewhere, there are excellent small pharmacies 5-10 minutes away, and that is a walk but then you won't waste an hour hanging around for nothing, you will pick up your promised Rx and go home. Ten minutes or over an hour ? What would you do ? I should say that the store cashiers are polite and as helpful as they can be, but the pharmacy is an unmitigated mess. read more

I have never seen a pharmacy, or really any establishment of any kind, with worse customer service, especially their night pharmacist. If I ran that CVS, I would be concerned about having a pharmacist like him on staff who seems to take great pleasure in sending unhappy customers away without the prescription they came for. Consistently unpleasant to deal with over the 3 years that I've lived in this neighborhood. If you're thinking about using this pharmacy because it's open late, don't, because it might as well not be. They also never answer the phone, especially at night. They could have saved me the time and aggravation, but tonight they're actually sending all calls directly to the prescriber voicemail box for some reason. My theory is that the night pharmacist prefers to be rude and unhelpful in person. For a kick, he probably even listens to voicemails left by people desperate for their medicine and confused about why they keep getting sent to a line that's supposed to be for doctors. Folks up front are always pleasant though. Keep up the good work. And, unlike me, I'm sure they have the good sense to use a different pharmacy. read more

Pharmacy: They are not answering the phone, for 30 mins in my case. Might as well walk-in. Cashier: Pro Tip - Save yourself from having to cancel a sale and ringing it all over by asking everyone if they need a bag if you don't see them with one. Hell, ask everyone regardless. I get that things are crazy with the COVID-19, but when corporate decides to close all the stores in the Upper West Side early, corporate should have made sure the remaining 24 hour CVS (yes there's only one) is sufficiently staffed. I'm sure that since you're not paying your staff for their full shift and they have bills to pay, ask them if they need the time. This is a failure of the higher ups. At this time pharmacies are a vital service. Pay your people what they're worth and give them hazard pay. read more

The levels of incompetence at this location are stunning. They have mislabeled prescriptions. They have randomly said they don't take my insurance (it's CVS insurance and hasn't changed in years, but suddenly one day they'll say they don't take it and I'll have to have them check again to confirm that they do, indeed, accept their own insurance). They will promise deliveries that never come. They will provide only part of a prescription for pick up or delivery instead of the whole prescription. Called in a prescription refill with the automatic mobile service. Went to pick it up and they said they didn't have it and they told me to talk to the consultation person. That person then said that the prescription was filled with a different CVS in California. We called that location and they said they didn't have it. The team behind the pharmacy counter is extremely unhelpful and offers no real solutions. Eventually, she said the pharmacist is taking care of it after going back-and-forth for a while. Then they told me to sit on the side and wait for it. Once it was ready they never actually told me so after a while I went back up to check on the status and they had it there. This place has now officially tap dances all over my last nerve. The store states that it is 24 hours, listed online as a 24 hour location, on Google....listed as 24 hours. I just went there at 3:30am in the morning to pick up my script (their pharmacy is also supposed to be 24 hours). Why are the doors locked and they aren't letting anyone in the store? They got folks out here spending $50 on an Uber to get there and home, got Door Dashers trying to pick up clients items ordered and paid for, and people trying to pick up medication at this "24 hour" spot...and no one can get in the building or get their shit. Apparently they can't ring up anyone due to computer issues...so they locked the doors and are ignoring people. Or at least that is what was yelled through the locked glass door halfway across the room. Just wasting peoples time, money, and patience with this amateur, disorganized nonsense. At least have one of You'all at the door to help people transfer their scripts to a different 24 location or have some addresses of locations nearby that folks car go to and not be assed out because your staff doesn't know how to "crisis manage" or "damage control" the situation. Thank God my Uber driver was king about to wait waaaayyyy longer than he was supposed to because he sat there and watched what we were going through. Pharmacists are rude and judgmental about medications. I have felt scared and bad about myself almost every time I have picked up a medication at this location. Pharmacist has also refused to fill medications saying it's too early despite my insurance company giving me vacation approval and I was left without my medication for an extended period while I was away. Pharmacist also violates privacy laws by loudly yelling name and prescription so other people can hear. The list continues. Treat people better. This is unacceptable. You know we here at MC3 try to diversify our review portfolio as much as possible, so here goes: another review of a CVS branch! We've often praised CVS over mom and pops because we prefer strong centralized systems over isolated and atomized outposts. Let's say you find yourself in Denver suddenly and need to get heart medication. With CVS, you give them a call and transfer it to the Denver branch. With mom and pop, you've got several more hurdles. Plus, a large firm like CVS is able to pay its workers higher wages with benefits. But there's a lot of 'uneven development' with CVS, not unlike the United States Postal Service. I like this one because it's 24 hours. As a migraine sufferer and someone with a bad habit of not refilling prescriptions until I have no pills, this is pretty essential to me, and 540 Amsterdam has gotten me out of many late-night jams. The downsides? It's sort of out of the way. When your head is pounding at 3:30 AM, do you really want to walk an additional 5 minutes from the 1 rather than just walk up Broadway? (Not me.) And it's really dirty. If you want a cleaner 24/7 CVS, go to the one at Columbus Circle. read more

It is so frustrating to try to get a prescription transferred here. If you ask the other pharmacy to call them, they don't pick up. If you ask them to call the other pharmacy, they don't. You have to stand there and babysit them while they call and then fill your prescription. Ridiculous. I went here today to purchase three Christmas cards and two gift cards. Seems fairly simple. I found the items. I attempted to purchase and for some reason there was an issue with my credit card, which has more than enough funding to cover these. For some reason the check-out clerk placed me on the phone with an unidentified voice who was asking me my SSN to confirm the purchase. That's shady as hell. Additionally, I was placed on this phone in a public area and then another clerk started having clients check out right next to me as I was sharing info like my SSN. Then the voice on the phone asked me if I was the "business owner of CVS" and I told her no, at which point she asked to speak to the owner of CVS. All of this over three Christmas cards. Then, after this, a random mother yells at me for saying the words "fuck off" as I hung up the phone. She was quite mad that I cursed in a public location around her child, who for some reason was allowed near where I'm giving private info such as my SSN. I apologized to the lady and she refused it, and told me that I will burn for eternity. Her child will continue to hear the word "fuck" as he grows older. But I will never go to CVS again. Duane Reade and Rite-Aid have never made me think my identity is at risk and then also allow me to be publicly shamed. Burn in hell, assholes. read more

This is the worst drug store I have ever dealt with, by a long shot, and I'm 81 so I've dealt with a lot. While the store itself is frequently under stocked and under staffed, the main problem is the pharmacy. If I could give minus stars I would. They are chronically understaffed and seem to have perfected the art of customer dis-service. Although there are three registers, usually only one is staffed while other employees ignore the fact that there are 6, 8 even 10 customers waiting. They don't ever answer the telephone and try to go to the store for information and you are lucky to get the right time of the day. They are categorized by the FDA one way (for above average controlled medicine purchases) and by CVS another way (a flagship Store that MUST perform). They face a tough situation. Everyone goes to them (location, pharmacy size and 24/7 service) and thus they have lines and people get irritated. Especially, when they don't have the medication in stock. This isn't their fault. They constantly request and request and do their utmost. I've been going to NYC pharmacies for 35 years. Then, I couldn't use a buy one get one half off offer because I managed to snag the last item; there wasn't a second to buy at 1/2 price. A clerk helped me enter a discount on the self-serve checkout machine, but then it froze and wouldn't process my card so I had to go wait on the regular checkout line. On multiple occasions - many, many times - I have called, waited on hold, and then it's clear someone picks up (the music goes off, can hear things in the background) and hangs up. Just hangs up on me without ever speaking. I'm still listening to the hold muzak while I'm on my 5th try. All because despite being told yesterday that my medicine would be delivered today, it was not. They are the closest and so have stayed for me but I doubt it will continue, this is intolerable. read more

I have to say, I do not make a habit out of frequenting this large, chain pharmacy, but I have used it when emergencies have called for it to fill prescriptions and it is 100% of the time a pleasant experience. All of the staff in the pharmacy is incredibly helpful, and the pharmacist on one occasion went out of his way to help me when I needed an antibiotic for an infection.
