These people don't care. I've been a student of virtue ethics, morality, conflict and communication, and theology for over a decade, so this is not a statement I make lightly and without some understanding of the nature of "caring".
1. They filled a scrip for my infant daughter of vitamins that should only be administered 1 drop per day and labeled it ".5 ml per day." That's 20 times the dosage. After standing at the counter watching them count meds and make small talk for almost 3 minutes (I timed it on my phone after about 30 seconds or so) I got a "sorry" and a refund.
2. The other day, my doc prescribed what I thought were 4 meds, but when I arrived for drive-thru pickup it was only 2 and another 1 that I had to go inside for as it was OTC. I got home shortly thereafter to find a voicemail that had arrived while doing so (guess my phone was on silent by accident) explaining that the 4th med was "not covered by insurance". I called them back and found out it was just an OTC that they couldn't give me at the window either. I asked why they hadn't just told me at the pickup spot and was told "We don't have that information in our system at the window. You should have asked us about it." I politely told them that they needed a better system, and that if a doctor tells me he's called everything in, I imagine them to service that need to their client. They didn't have much of a response.
3. A side effect of my meds has required that I get special ear drops, also OTC. I called to check if they were in stock, was on hold for over 15 minutes. They finally picked up, I asked, they said they'd go check, and put me back on hold. Cool, except I was cycled back through the system, sent first to the front counter phone, then back to pharmacy, where I was on hold for a few more minutes before someone picked up and said "There's 2 or 3 people in front of you, I'll get right back." I tried to interject "{Med name!]" but they'd already put me on hold. When someone else finally picked up a few MORE minutes later, I explained my ordeal and begged that they just put the phone DOWN while they check rather than put me on hold. They explained that they don't have a systematic way to see who called in what order, and that they were very busy. I explained (after extolling the virtuous nature of their hard work in keeping folks healthy), that maybe they should think about creating one as a customer service improvement initiative, given that I was sitting in pain for 25 minutes that could have probably been 15. The woman sullenly said "Okay. Thanks," and hung up.
So yeah. These people don't care (unless you run into Sita, he should run the place, maybe assisted by Alisha). Else, find a better spot. I recommend Rite-Aid on Broadway at Cherry. We used to live near there and I never once felt like the folks didn't care about me, quite the contrary. read more
