The pharmacist is delightful: kind, helpful, with great questions and advice. After years at Walgreens and CVS, with terrible customer service and long lines, I immediately started sending all prescriptions to Herbay. So much better! I even get personal calls from the pharmacist when it's time to refill prescriptions. She has them done within the hour, and there's never any hassle. I cannot recommend this pharmacy enough. This is how a pharmacy should work! Efficient, amazing customer service, and really good people. If you're looking for a pharmacy, choose Herbay. She consistently appears unhappy, avoids coming to the counter, and instead shouts from the back when a pharmacist is needed -- which is not only uncomfortable, but raises real concerns about professionalism and patient privacy. On top of that, she seems to invent her own rules. If she doesn't personally approve of a medication -- weight-loss prescriptions, ADHD meds like Ritalin or Adderall, etc. -- she'll find a technicality to delay or refuse the fill. One especially troubling tactic: refusing prescriptions from out-of-area physicians. UCSB students, beware. After too many negative interactions, my family and I finally moved all of our prescriptions elsewhere. The contrast in service was immediate. I get the same prescriptions every month and every time they say they don't have record of it and I need to call my doctor, even though my doctor had receipt of them getting my prescription and on the CVS app is shows they are working on it. I work a 10-5, so I show up within an hour of them opening- thats an excuse for my items not being prepared. I show up midday- they're about to go on lunch and can't get it done now. I show up in the evening and they close soon so come back tomorrow. I ask them how can I help with the issues regarding my RX order not being filled in over a week since the order was sent in, why is it taking all of this extra time, they tell me they don't know, I ask how can I figure out what the issue is, "I don't know." About 20 minutes later, I was paged to pick up my prescription. I paid, walked out, and only when I opened it in my car did I see they had given me exactly the brand I had asked them NOT to give me. When I went back to point out their mistake, I was told it was my fault for not checking before paying, as if it was unreasonable to assume they were competent enough to follow clear instructions I had given less than 20 minutes earlier. I asked what the point of talking to the pharmacist on this request if it was going to be ignored and the blame pushed onto the patient. They had no answer. They THEN informed me that the brand I had requested wasn't necessarily in stock and had to be a special order, none of which they told me when I first walked up. So they still filled knowing it wasn't the one that I requested. They let me pay knowing this, knowing I couldn't get it back. I'm now having to open a case with my bank because I do consider this a form of fraud. Now I understand why this place only has two stars. It's not because customers are being picky, it's because this team simply doesn't follow directions, and clearly doesn't take responsibility.
