CVS Pharmacy has honestly become very hit or miss lately, and I say that as someone who has visited multiple locations over time trying to give the experience another chance. The biggest issue for me is consistency. Almost every time I walk into a CVS, I struggle to find the item I came in for because the shelves are either partially stocked, completely empty in certain sections, or the inventory system says something is available when it actually isn't. At times, it genuinely feels like the stores are just being maintained rather than actively improved or fully supported operationally. And unfortunately, the customer service experience often reflects that same energy. It's rare that I walk into a CVS location and encounter employees who seem genuinely happy, supported, or engaged. I'm not even saying that critically toward the staff themselves because honestly, it feels bigger than individual employees. It feels like there may be pressure from corporate expectations, staffing shortages, impossible metrics, burnout, or operational stress that eventually trickles down into the customer experience. But customers feel it. The worst experiences I've personally had tend to happen at the pharmacy counters, where interactions can sometimes come across rushed, cold, dismissive, or lacking empathy altogether. And when someone is already stressed, sick, or simply trying to locate an item they need, that type of environment makes the experience even more frustrating. My most recent visit was honestly simple: I walked in looking for a specific item and couldn't find it. But what stood out wasn't just the missing product -- it was the overall atmosphere. The store felt disconnected from the actual customer experience. Retail today is competitive, and customers notice when businesses stop feeling welcoming or fully functional. I've left positive reviews for many businesses because I believe in recognizing good service when it's deserved. I also understand retail is difficult right now. But I also believe companies need to revisit employee support, staffing, inventory management, and customer service culture because people absolutely notice when those things decline. At the end of the day, customers don't expect perfection. They just want to feel helped, acknowledged, and able to find what they came in for. read more

What a terrible interaction. I was standing in the drop off line because that was the only spot with a pharmacy worker. I'm there maybe 5 minutes and all of a sudden the shudders start coming down and a small older lady appears and says "we are closed". I said, I was standing in line already. She responds very rudely and says "well what do you need!?" So I say, "there is no need for attitude, I was in line." I tell her that I needed a Plan B. She then says very loudly (now I'm not embarrassed to buy plan B) "Plan B!? Do you have a prescription!?" Now I didn't even know you could get it prescribed but that's another question for another time. But I told her that I do not. "She then says "you have to ask Target for Plan B. We don't have it." I then found the contraception aisle and it was there. All this terrible woman had to say was "oh it's in that aisle right there next to the pharmacy". Not to mention"go ask Target". Terrible customer service. What if I had been some teenage girl who needed the medication because she made a mistake or god forbid was raped!? Would she talk to the girl like that? My step daughter is 18 and I would lose my shit if she came home and told me she was treated like this. I will be moving all of my pharmacy needs from CVS because this interaction was absolutely absurd and her attitude was unwarranted. If I could give zero stars I would. read more

I would highly recommend going to a different pharmacy. My experience picking up prescriptions here is not good. First they are very disorganized and don't really seem to care about their customers or the impact it has on their customers. For example, I had to wait 2 weeks for a medication to arrive. Mind you there was no follow up on what was happening, where it was, despite my many calls to the pharmacy. I then asked to have it refilled when I picked it up to ensure I wouldn't risk it not being available. (It's one of those medications you shouldn't really keep starting and stopping and it's not an obscure one either, millions of women take it. ) So they agreed to put in a refill, but they put the refill request on a different medication. Upon realizing this, I put in a request for the correct one and even spoke with someone on the phone about it. They said they were "looking into it" Their CVS app kept telling me my Dr has not approved it. My Dr. approved it a week prior, when I talked to them they said we had no record. Which is impossible, it's all automated. Now the my Dr is involved again, because I am about to run out. The pharmacy now says, since it's now urgent, they don't carry my medicine at all and is now asking my Dr for a replacement. Why didn't they do this when they were asked to refill it vs saying, oh we "can't contact your Dr" Just ridiculous and such poor customer service. I'm now switching to a new pharmacy. You can't mess around with peoples medications... it's just super messed up! read more

I called CVS at The Commons in Federal Way to see if my bf's meds were there. They had been ordered 3 days earlier. The tech said nope, we don't have them. I panicked. I called again 2 hours later. There had to be a mistake. The same tech said you asked if they were ready and they weren't. What kind of sick games are these people playing? I'm so embarrassed. I had to message the Drs that the pharmacy did receive the refill requests they just hadn't gotten around to them yet. read more

I received a Prescription for 2 liquid prescriptions for my 14year old grandson, who was diagnosed with walking Pneumonia, he needs Antibiotics 1 Amoxcillian , which I found out from his Mom in the past he had a allergic reaction, previously, He was seen at UW Urgent care in Federal way by Target with CVS pharmacy, The pharmacists & cashier there refused to help him told me more than once they couldn't find my Grandsons Provider 1 Insurance information in there System, they acted Discriminated against Him& my daughter on evening of 01/08/24 & myself on 01/09/24 after 2:00pm. THERE'S NO EXCUSE FOR PRETENDING TO LOOK FOR HIS MEDICAL INSURANCE INFO, THE WALGREENS IN KENT EAST HILL WERE SO NICE & FRIENDLY they were kind & very helpful & found his Medical Insurance ID number right away, So much better than those fake robot acting. MONEY HUNGRY EMPLOYEES AT CVS IN TARGET @Federal way mall, The cashier at pharmacy was Rude, uncaring , extremely no use , or compassion for a child that needs his Meds , who has Pneumonia, uncalled for attitude. Then the Caucasian cashier had his prescriptions Ready & was asking me to Pay 42.00 & some change, I told her I'm not paying that when I know my Grandsons Insurance is Current which she claims she couldn't find, she's about 5'5" Long dark brown hair real light complected, Rude, Fake, Robot like attitude there all about $$$$ and looks like she's in her 30's. read more

I go out of my way to use this specific pharmacy solely due to the fantastic service by Jamie, the pharmacist. She is patient, understanding, kind and consistently goes above and beyond the call of duty to troubleshoot any issues, expedite refills, and knowing she is in charge gives me the peace of of mind that my medications will be filled properly and on-time. It's clear Jamie genuinely cares about her job and her patients, and interacting with her is always such a pleasant experience. I have never experienced this level of customer service from a pharmacist. She is a true gem. Please give Jamie a raise! read more

Over one hour of hold time. This is ridiculous!!!! Please hire techs who actually know how to answer phone calls. Never had to wait this long on hold. Staff shortages are everywhere (if that's your excuse) but the wait times at a pharmacy shouldn't be this long. I guess it's time to change pharmacies as this location has gone downhill when it comes to customer service. Such a disappointment!! read more

CVS pharmacy on 21st Ave in Federal Way is the has the worst experience I've ever experienced. They were my selected Medicare drug provider in 2021 - big mistake, so I switched in 2022. After repeated calls, waiting long periods on hold. I remember standing at the pharmacy waiting, and hearing a recording, your have 8 calls ahead of you . In 2021 I attempted to fill an expensive script. I checked it before I left the store, wrong script, oops. Cvs continued to refill prescriptions without my authorization. They ran them through Medicare so my Medicare designated pharmacy could not fill a script. read more

The service provided at this location is absolutely terrible. If you try to call, the hold times are excessive -- I held for over 20 minutes just to be hung up on .... Called back and held again for over 20 minutes just to be treated more rudely than I have ever been treated by any customer service representative anywhere. The person answering refused to give me their name and would not listen -- continuously cutting me off, said he would put my request "in the system" to be refilled at a particular time but that sometimes doesn't work so I should call back. What ???? I will not be calling back -- I will be going through the hassle of moving all my family prescriptions to another drug provider just to avoid this terrible service. CVS is a SHADY & SNEAKY pharmacy! I USED to go to CVS Pharmacy inside Target, and I loved it when it was Target Pharmacy. But then, CVS bought them out. So, CVS was filling my prescriptions 3 weeks to 30 days early; and on top of that, I found out from new pharmacy that they were filling my nose spray as a 3-month supply when it was written as only a 30-day supply. I hate going to this pharmacy!!!!!! They never have what I need or are sold out of their medication and I end up waiting 1 to 2 days to get my prescription. This was my final attempt!!!!! Giving two stars simply because they are good for prescriptions. Called ahead for a flu shot, they said they had plenty of stock, I asked if I should call ahead or anything because I was going to come in the evening after dinner and they said it should be fine. Well, got here at 6:40, they close at 7, and they will not give us flu shots. Got the whole family of 4 down here, got the little kids ready to get shots, and now they have to wait till tomorrow. When I called ahead, they should have said they stop taking shots at 6:30. Not our fault, and now we have to spend ANOTHER hour to get flu shots, and my kids are going to be even more psyched up. My wife and I take several meds for our heart conditions. The staff at CVS-Target are amazing! they are very helpful, especially when they are bzy and short staffed. Words of advise to upper management, dont believe the bad reviews, we have seen and heard the people who complain while waiting for our meds. Those people wake up looking for a reason to complain. Absolutely awful experience. Every time I go in for something, the shelves are bare. There are tags on the shelves for product but the shelves are more bare than stocked on any given day. Is it the thought that counts?Today was the final straw. I was prescribed an antibiotic ear drop for a 10 day course of therapy. My copay is $40 which I understand, that's my insurance. Problem is 1 bottle is not enough to cover the full length of therapy. I was told "it's close enough". I'm sorry but I didn't pay for "close enough". Realistically one bottle will last 7.5 days being that it is a suspension. "Close enough" is not ok. Them telling my insurance that this will last 10 days is fraud. It is no different than them receiving a prescription for 30 tablets, billing you/your insurance for 30 tablets and give you 23 tablets telling you "it's close enough". I work in pharmacy and have for 23 years and I know this is not ok, on any level. Their solution? Get a refill from the doctor and charge me for another bottle. This is NOT my fault. It falls squarely on the prescriber and the pharmacist that filled it. The pharmacist should have realized that this is a longer longer therapy and for both ears not only one. We are all human and I understand that but once it was pointed out, it should have been rectified. The appropriate fix would have been to get a proper prescription for 2 bottles, reverse the incorrect fill and get me the 2nd bottle with no extra charge. The therapy requires 2 bottles. This is what I should have received. Instead they took zero responsibility and stood behind their original statement that its "close" enough. The profit margin on brand name drugs is minimal so why not fix the error? It's not a loss for them. I don't understand. read more
