This may be the fastest Yelp I've ever done. I have gone to Cutty's a few times, as it's directly below my office building. Now after my 3rd trip, which was about an hour ago, I have to share how great this place is to the world. My first sandwich experience was with the Pimento Ham. It's pre-made, so be sure to request that they warm the sandwich up for you. It's served on a small baguette... err... it's not small by any means, but very thinly cut and long. It's a good sandwich for sharing. However, on that particular day, I was feeling rather ravenous. I ate the whole thing. The pimento cheese spread and the sweet pickles... and the tasty, tasty ham... I couldn't stop. Today, I kept it simple. I got a grilled cheese (made with Havarati cheese - best.cheese.choice.ever) - it was the right size with the right amount of grease that I needed for my Post-Valentine's Day hangover. I also had their homemade tomato soup to dip my sandwich in... the soup had a little kick to it and I enjoyed it so much, I almost licked the bottom of the cup. I did restrain myself. I picked up the Roast Beef 1000 for a co-worker and the smell and sight alone... just wow. That'll be my next selection for next time... especially considering how fast he ate it and the rave reviews! read more

this place was fine, but i don't really buy the hype. got the roast beef 1000, which was quite good. i thought it was a little pricey for what you get. the girl got the pork fennel, which i thought was okay, but nothing special. would probably go back, just wouldn't really go out of my way. read more

I've been wanting to try this place since it was featured on diners, drive ins and dives! I had the roast beef 1000 and it didnt disappoint. Tender, well seasoned roast beef. The shallots were a nice touch and the thousand island dressing was very good! It came on ciabatta instead of the brioche. Next time I would want that! I, like many others, learned about Cutty's on TV. I was really excited about trying them out. We have now been there many times and I've always been super happy with whatever I've ordered. Their sandwiches always taste amazing and we are never disappointed. One of the only issues I have is that they close early, which can be disappointing when you're in the mood for a delicious sandwich for dinner. Other than that, absolutely fantastic! Our absolute favorite place for lunch or breakfast sandwiches on the weekend. Favorites include the pork fennel on Saturdays, or the eggplant spuckie for a delicious vegetarian option (ask for it grilled). Great service. Interesting ingredient combinations - although the sandwiches may seem a bit strange just trust that the flavors will be delicious! We have never had a meal that we don't love. Gets crowded on the weekends (especially after they were featured on Diners Drive-ins & Dives), so expect to wait a bit. read more

Very tasty sandwiches with very thoughtful ingredient combinations. Cutty's introduced me to the magic of pimento cheese and now I've bought 3 tubs of it. So tangy and savory! Does it contain crack? It's lovely on the ham sandwich (my current favorite). The meat spuckie (had to look that up--apparently it's a sub/hero/grinder) was tasty too. I was a little disappointed with the egg salad sandwich. While the flavors were tasty (who'd have thought of olives on egg salad?), the wheat bread was a little supermarket-y (esp. for the price). I'm looking forward to trying the roast beef and pork sandwiches next. I really liked the homemade potato chips. They're well-browned, so have an extra depth of flavor. Maybe a little more salt would be even better. The brown sugar cookie is fabulous--not too molassesy, and nice and chewy. The only negative is that it's a bit pricey and the portions are small. On one hand, I walk out feeling comfortable, rather than stuffed, but the prices set up an expectation for more food. I think the portions would be fine if it were a little cheaper. On the third hand, the quality is very high. So.... I'll keep going there and just save up my money. read more

Even though everybody recommends in Yelp reviews to have roast beef sandwich, he couldn't taste it (we do not eat meat). I had read a million bagillion things about this place, and was waiting for the perfect day to go (it's about a 40 minute walk from where I live). 1st attempt-on a sunday, and though I was pretty sure it said they were open on sundays, alas, to my chagrin, it was closed. I ate somewhere down the street. next attempt- went as a celebratory meal after the culmination of my internship. I usually don't eat red meat but I KNEW I had to try the roast beef 1000. holy crap it was delicious. I was waiting for a friend and trying to save a bite for her to try, which I ended up nibbling on until barely a morsel was left. I love the set up, the open counters, the adorable people that work there, the complexity of the sandwiches, and the varying specials. Can't wait to return. read more

HOLY SNAP. This place has hands down the best roast beef sandwich I've had in recent memory. The Roast Beef 1000, as has been mentioned many times before, is a carnival of flavor dashed with sprinkles of bliss and absolute joy. I had it with the home-made chips which made me sad because I realized that as soon as I walked out the door I wouldn't be able to eat them any more. Totally agree with "Tina A." Had such high expectations and there was nothing wrong with our sandwiches, but I have now been in twice and I don't see what all the fuss is about. It is definitely high-quality food but nothing has blown me away, flavor-wise. Probably the best place to get a sandwich in the neighborhood but you can venture out a bit more and find better IMO. Out of the Roast Beef, Greens Bacon and the Spuckie, I'd have to go with the Spuckie as my favorite choice. Might still go back on a weekend to try the pork but if it is nothing amazing, I probably won't be back in. read more

This place is simply amazing- I saw it on DDD, but what really sealed the deal was hearing that the owners used to work with America's Test Kitchen (aka my favorite series of cookbooks and the best cooking show on PBS and tv in general). I've had their two pork sandwich specials, the roast beef, and most recently, their ham pimento- delicious! Each and every one of them! I've also tried their limeade, as well as their potato chips....not a complaint to be made on any of them. A friend and I decided to grab some lunch here this past weekend. We knew it had to be good when we showed up around 2pm and there was a line out the door! We both got the Roast Beef 1000 and we blown away by how good the sandwich was. No smoke and mirrors here, just really great, quality ingredients that come together to make delicious sandwiches! The place isn't very big on the inside, maybe 10 tables total. But I kind of like that they keep it cute and simple, that way they can focus on making those yummy sammys! We actually ordered ours to go and walked over to the park that's right around the corner to eat. If this place was closer to my house I'd be here ALL the time! read more

Came upon this little gem of sandwich shop while in Brookline Village delivering some antique musical instruments to a shop nearby. We had not been in the area in years and were surprised at the many places to choose from. We choose Cuttys and were so pleased. As vegetarians it is sometimes hard to find a good sandwich.....we found 2 fantastic offerings which my husband and I split....the eggplant spuckie and the greens shallot ...both on Iggys bread and grilled ...they were fantastic. I would never of thought to grill Swiss chard or to put it in a sandwich. I will add it to my own repertoire.The eggplant was great ...the cheese ,carrots blended and tasted of pimento reminding me of some taste from the past. Wonderful flavor of shallots and saffron! The waitstaff person taking our orders was so sweet. The origin of all the ingredients is posted and we were surprised to see the mozzarella came from a shop in East Haven CT.... We had just been in East Haven over the weekend for a family gathering . It seems to be an Italian enclave hence the mozzarella coming from there to Brookline. Perpetually on the quest for the next great sandwich, or at least someone whose going to shake things up a bit, I couldn't wait to try Cutty's. Once you walk in, you immediately feel at home. This small space has a clean, sort of bare bones approach with rustic wooden tables (that I assume are meant to signify chopping blocks) and metal chairs that give it a sleek finish. Walking to the back of the large hallway style shop, you can start to see culinary magic unfolding as the super friendly staff hurriedly prepares sandwiches for eager customers. The menu is not enormous but you don't feel like it needs to be. Providing a good amount of Italian meats, turkey, cheeses and roast pork options (on Saturdays only). I opted for a veggie selection, partly because I had just had a killer work out at the gym and was craving something a little lighter and partly because I think if you can master the art of making a bunch of vegetables fantastic on a sandwich, there isn't much else you can't do. As I sit here, new laptop in front of me and my sautéed greens, crispy shallots and a saffron yogurt sauce on ciabatta bread before me, I must say that I am very satisfied. The greens are wilted to perfection and create this base of earthy, rustic deliciousness. The surprising thing here is that the shallots really are crispy. Every once in a while I get a subtle crunch from them as I take a bite. Are they deep fried? Are they somehow breaded? The real yum element is the saffron yogurt sauce that is sunny yellow in color and delicately coating my greens. It's so fresh and unique and compliments everything else so well. Not over powering at all, it just gives such a great additional kick of flavor. And of these distinctly delicious ingredients are encased in delightfully crunchy ciabatta bread. The only gripe I have, if I had to pick one, would be the portion size. Maybe I was just extra hungry or maybe because it is so good that I don't want it to end. Either way, I would have liked a little more on my plate. Simply put, yum. Watch out Cutty's, I will be back! read more
