Cutler Brooklyn is an airy, bright space and the staff there were friendly and accommodating. I have dry, wavy, thick hair and for years had a hard time finding stylists who listened to me when I warned how big my hair air dries or understood how to enhance my waves without giving me triangle hair only Dolly Parton could love. I followed Nora Croft to Cutler BK because she GETS IT. I'm too busy/lazy to blow-dry and after my first haircut with Nora it finally looked good drying on its own. I like that Nora gives dry cuts because when my hair is wet, it's temporarily straight and I can't see how the cut will effect my curls in real time. This past weekend during my dry cut, I mused about hair colors and styles I wanted to try soon and she educated me on the molecular structure of certain dyes, the hair shaft, and what to expect. Leila is amazing! I have been wearing tape-in extensions in and out for almost a year & post partum for 3 months now, I definitely needed a haircut to combat the split ends, dead few inches of hair, & hair loss. She knew what I had in mind, and understood how short to cut my hair in respect to my wishes. She razored those dead ends off, and refined previous layers. I came here to get highlights and make my hair lighter with INDIGO and after 4 hours of color I actually left with my hair darker than it was before. She put a really dark toner on my hair after highlighst and made all my hair light brown, darker than what it was before I walked in. Basically ruined my hair. Came in with light / almost blonde hair. I had done it myself so it was kind of uneven. Keep in mind, very light. I wanted and even light brown. Now my hair is black and blotchy. I cried in the store and Ryan had no remorse. He reportedly said it was not black. It is indeed black. The owner was there and did not say a word. This is a great place- I got between Cutler Soho for color and now my new fav Cutler WillyB for cuts. In my opinion all of the staff are highly trained and you really can't go wrong. I know this because my sister gets a cut and color by one of the other stylists, and my mom also uses a different colorist- all from Cutler, all amazing. For a 'worth it' cut both my husband and I go to Brad, he's a pro with hair and even my husband who has been going to barber shops for years could not stop raving about how incredible and worth it Brad make his hair look. At WillyB go to Brad for your cut - hes talented, super nice and just a great person. You'll wind up being friends with him! . At either WillyB or Soho Rachel Bolt is amazing with color (my mom loves her). In Soho go to Alicia for highlights. I started with Alicia for color and honestly it's the first time I was happy with my hair in years - I have that blond, honey, highlight hair color that needs a real professional because the wrong person can bleach it out or make it look dull. The real test for Alicia came on my second visit- many colorist get it right once and never again, then you are stuck with hoping they do a good job- its like gambling... I have been going to alicia for 3 years now and she has never done me wrong. I am 34 and for the first time since I started getting hlighlights in my teens am i consistently happy with my hair. She ALWAYS makes it amazing. In Soho- for an amazing blow out and the funnest time you'll have getting your hair styled go to Armond- he is amazing!!! He is actually an incredible eye brow specialist, so when he blows your hair out, or styles it for an event make sure to ask him about eye brows- not convinced? I went to Cutler Salon after two different salons destroyed my hair in attempt to take it from dark brown to blonde. Cutler saved my locks from total destruction and Ona was amazing! At the time she was my colorist Ivan's assistant and really compassionate/comforting while I was going through all the feels from the previous bad experiences. After trying 5 different salons in the Williamsburg area I finally stumbled upon a gem. Pamella did my color and I couldn't be happier! The salon is a quaint spot off Bedford with a great vibe that makes you happy to be sitting for hours getting your hair done. I'm one of those people that usually finds this process tedious and boring, but with this group of stylists it's a fun experience. There are moments where conversations with your stylist will turn into full salon discussions - it's a lot of fun to pass the time while color is processing. They have a bar attached where you can wait, grab a drink and relax. There's even an outdoor patio out back where I hear they will be putting stations for the summer so people can enjoy the outdoors while getting their hair done. I highly recommend Pamella if you are a blonde - it's hard to find people who know what they are doing and will give you what you request. And the prices are not over the top, either. read more

I had heard wonderful reviews from friends about Cutler in the city but since I live in Williamsburg I wanted to try Cutler BK so I checked Yelp and it did not fail me. I called in the morning to schedule with Kari and she was incredible. She took the time to explain to me what would be the best thing to do on my hair and took into consideration my complexion as well as the condition of my hair. Kari ended up correcting the base color and added highlights that look very subtle and natural. She also suggested to purchase a restorative treatment that along with the glaze would protect my hair. I came in with a bad dye job and was hoping to get the color stripped - I had already lost hope of achieving the color I attempted to get in the first place (not done by Alannah). Not only did she take the time to carefully strip my hair, but she was able to recreate the original look I was going for; I assumed it was not possible to go from dark mahogany to blonde/ginger balayage. She's also great at giving you a haircut that works for your lifestyle (depending on if you style your hair or are more get up and go). My girlfriend always sees Pam for color, and has only rave reviews. She really listens to what you want and is great at making your color look seamless.
