I loved everything about this place. My friends & I had been looking for a more authentic Jamaican spot in the area and Cutlass Grille was rated one of the best in our search. I ordered the oxtails with sides: mac & cheese and collard greens. The mac & cheese was to die for and the collards were fresh. They also featured live music the night we went aka smooth jazz with a saxophone player. The vibes were amazing! My only complaint was the small portion size for oxtail meat. I'm use to receiving a lot more at other restaurants. Nonetheless, I will definitely be back! Check this place out. read more

You will not find a more authentic Jamaican place anywhere around. Slow cooked and well-made. It's more than just a meal, it's an experience. I would recommend going repeatedly to try almost the entire menu. And then the desserts, oh my. read more

BEYOND AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE AND FOOD. Everything here was amazing. The complimentary bread was baked amazingly and was super soft. The coconut was crispy and large and the sauce was a perfect addition. I got the goat curry with macaroni and cheese and sweet plantains and enjoyed every bite. The meal with was very filling and left me wanting more. My boyfriends dad is a super hard food critic and couldn't get enough of their rice and beans. The jerk chicken was cooked juicy and tender. They even ask if your preference is white or dark meat which I appreciated. My boyfriends mom ordered the rib tips which I thoroughly enjoyed as you could taste the mesquite, however it was too fatty for her taste. When the manager came around we all said everything was good and he could sense my boyfriends mom wasn't liking her meal and came back and offered to replace the meal. She was reluctant but the manager insisted and replaced the meal free of cost. The manager and our waitress were super nice and we all agreed we would definitely come back and recommend this restaurant. I definitely would like to come back to try their drinks, they looked really good! read more

Absolutely FANTASTIC! The restaurant itself is very cute and perfectly decorated. The one word is use to describe it is "airy". The menu is extensive and the portions are generous. I learned that one the hard way! I ordered the shrimp taco appetizer but it could easily be an entree. Because my eyes were bigger than my stomach I also ordered the curry chicken with 2 sides. The plantains and collards were spot on. I brought the leftovers home and they didn't last 20 minutes. And to top it all off, the staff was great! A gentleman (the owner I think) checked on us multiple times. Something about his personality was so warm and enjoyable. I immediately told my family about this place because we'll all be going back very soon. read more

1st time here was last Saturday & I must say...I WILL be back!! Great food, and even better customer service! Our waitress was very attentive! And they even had a guy there playing some good ole jazz music! The place is kinda small, but it was nice & cozy...not too packed & there was nice spaces between tables! Not bad! read more

This was my first time visiting this location, but my wife's second. For a change of taste and scenery this is your place. It immediately transports you somewhere else. RESERVATIONS: No, walked in and was immediately seated PRICE: Fair pricing ATMOSPHERE: I love their attempt of giving you an Island feel. From the wall decor, ceiling fans, open airy feel, the music gently playing in the background, and the white wood planks. SERVICE: Our server was an extremely nice young lady, she was very engaging. She did everything right, brought us bread, gave us napkins, and asked us if we needed anything additional. FOOD: 1. We ordered a wings appetizer which was fried perfectly. A little hard and lightly salted on the outside, soft on the inside but cooked to perfection. 2. My wife ordered the Jumbo Shrimp, Macaroni & cheese and fries. The Jumbo Shrimp and the fries were delightfully cooked I loved the shrimp they battered with. I might add the shrimps were jumbo as well. The Macaroni and cheese is to die for, it has to sit on my top 3 listing I have ever tasted. 3. I ordered Oxtails, Jamaican Beans and rice, and also cabbage. The Oxtails were almost falling off the bones and was truly a treat for my palate, the rice and beans complimented and enhance the taste of the gravy from the oxtails. My cabbage was just a little bit over cooked, as I like my cabbage with a little bit of firmness but the taste was good overall. REVISIT SCALE: 8 SN: Beware of the complimentary bread. It's delicious, filling, and addicting. :-) read more

Enjoyed this restaurant. The service was great and the food prepared and presented in a delicious manner.

Cutlass Grille is known for their Jamaican Style Food! I've been here a few times with my sister and cousins, and I always tend to come back for their Brown Stew Chicken and their Fried Plantains. (Oh So Good) Their Brown Stew Chicken is well cooked and flavored, I just love the way it comes off the bone so easily too. As for their sides I've tried their Mac n Cheese, Baked Beans and Brisket, and their Fried Plantains. Not really into Baked beans but this was actually really good, very tasty and a bit sweet too. I love love the Fried Plantains, it reminds me of filipino Banana Fritters but without the wrapper around. It's sooo good, that I usually get this as one of my sides and have this as my dessert. My recent visit wasn't as pleasant as the other times I've been. I came here at 9:08 pm with my cousin and their hostess told us that they close at 10 (Hmm I would have understand why she said this if it was like 30 to 15 minutes close to close time but not more than 45 minutes to close time) Anyhow, I felt a bit rushed in ordering food plus by that time, they didn't have a lot on the menu left. So as we received our food, my drink of sweet tea was empty and my waiter came to tell me that they ran out of sweet tea. So I asked for Sprite instead. When my Sprite came out, it tasted flat on carbonation. So then I asked another waitress to please check on the Sprite which she then came back out to tell me she told my waitress about it. My waitress didn't even come back out to apologize to me. (I literally started to drink my cousins water by that time) Then I saw the waitress that I told about the Sprite, bring out a glass that looked like tea to another table. My cousin then asked her if that was sweet tea she then says yes it is. So my cousin told her that our waitress said they ran out of it, and she responds back "Oh it's because I just made it." Hmmm by this time I felt kinda pissed, but I stayed cool. Lets just say our waitress wasn't very attentive to us. Maybe it was almost time to get off, but as long as you are on clock there is no excuse to not being attentive to your customers til the end. (Side Note: my cousin and I finished exactly at 10 and there were still other customers there.) Overall, love their Brown Stew Chicken. Customer service can be worked on. read more

First time coming to this establishment and the food was amazing. Very filling, one of the rare times I don't finish my food. The service was top notch and a breath of fresh air. Manager even comes out to see how you are doing. Frequent refills on drinks, the food was even better when I got home. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for something different, and a good time. Environment is relaxing, flat screen TVs for sports, I didn't even get an alcoholic drink but they had a plethora of options. This place is great, I really enjoyed my time here. It will not be the last time. read more

The jerk pork, Mac and cheese, and green beans are my go to every time I go!!! Amazing!!!!!

This location was short walking distance from the hotel we stayed during our visit to Virginia Beach area from Wash., DC. And Caribbean cuisine is one of my favorite! Walked in the restaurant and the hostess was friendly and that great customer service continued the entire visit. It was topped by a visit to our table by the owner/chef. The jerk chicken salad I ordered was delicious and authentic with the chicken seasoned just right. And the presentation of the meal on the plate was appealing. My husband ordered the curry shrimp with rice and peas. He also remarked about the authentic seasoning and the hearty size and portion of the shrimp. At the end of our meal, our waitress gave us the list of Caribbean dessert offerings. I was tempted to order the homemade coconut crème pie. Definitely, we will return on next visit to the area! read more

The exterior isn't very impressive, just a storefront in a bland strip mall. The interior decor isn't fancy either but that's not necessarily a judge of the food. Upon arrival, we were greeted promptly and given a table for 8 in the second dining room. Our server arrived almost immediately and was quick to take our drink order. We ordered from the regular menu and the daily specials menus. We also ordered hot wings as an appetizer that arrived fairly quickly. The heat level was relatively mild but very flavorful. I had the Jerk Steak from the specials menu - a 14oz portion with 2 sides. Not inexpensive at $27.99 but incredibly tasty and well cooked (medium rare). The heat from the jerk seasoning was subtle and enhanced the flavor of an excellent cut of beef. The sides (rice with black beans and plantains) were also quite flavorful. An unexpected plus was the live music - a steel drum which certainly added to the tropical atmosphere in a cold and dreary evening When in town, we will certainly return!! read more

Great Ox tails, great Goat meat combo! Hot, fresh, and tasty! I love it highly recommend to anyone in the 757.

Coming here since COVID Quarantine. No problem with service and the food is good. However the last couple of times including today they have been extremely unprofessional and very slow. It appears no one is in a hurry at all! A lot of employees walking around in circles. No since of urgency at all! Time to find another place. Too bad, I did like the food but professionalism is important. They just don't care read more

Love this place ! The owner even visited our table to make sure our jerk ribeye was cooked to perfection which it was ! There live music as well, the good kind too lol. He was playing some neo soul/r&b on the saxophone. We couldn't see the music from where we were sitting because placed wasn't engineered for the type of dinning experience smh. All in all I can't wait to return and try some of their curry chicken ! read more

I found this spot on yelp this afternoon and a large group (12 of us) went here for dinner. We received immediate attention for drinks even though most of our party was still missing. Right as our group arrived we were brought hot, fresh bread! Do yourself a favor - don't load up on bread even though it's delectable! We were all promptly brought drinks. There was a little delay with ordering and we had to wait a while for our food, completely understandable for a large group. Pace your bread consumption and it's perfect. Once the food came- our incredibly loud table was really quiet. I was blown away with how amazingly delicious all of our plates were!!! Everything was right with our orders, it was hot, it was perfect. There's enough to share. Two of us spilt the jerk chicken with beans and brisket and the jerk pork with Mac n cheese and Jamaican rice with peas. The meat was perfect- the rice was delicious- the beans were like nothing I'd tasted before (a lil sweet) - and the mac n cheese was great! The music volume is a perfect level to allow talking but giving it an island relaxing vibe. Basically I can't put into more words how good and impressive this restaurant was for experience, ambience, price, service, comfortability, and really full stomachs. We're all here on business and we are going to sleep well tonight. Bonus points: our waitress spilt the bill for all of us- making the group outing even more convenient read more

Came in for lunch and had to wait for someone to greet us which meant waiting for seating after we got to our table I was able to look at the menu but honestly I didn't see much of a variety and I wish they had more combination plates but I got the shrimp tacos which were a little spicy and the dressing was delicious and a ginger beer aka soda because I despise beer but I was excited to have it because I can rarely find the soda in the store. Our waitress was nice, the food was timely and well seasoned and the atmosphere was inviting especially with the owner walking to each table and greeting everyone. read more

Finally got a chance to pop in here for lunch today. Wow, was i glad i did!!!! Start off being seated promptly, fairly good crowd in the building. Waitress takes my order, and i kid you not, curry chicken with two sides were at my table in under 5 minutes. Typically food too fast is a bad sign! Not here. Curry chicken was cooked perfectly. Moist, tender fall off the bone, and the curry sauce was amazing! Not overly salty, just right and nice and hot. Collards cooked perfectly, still had a nice texture, not soggy, seasoned to perfection! Again not overly salted like most places, perfection. Mac and cheese was also solid. Moist, creamy, flavorful. Owner was in the building checking on all guests, and this place will be a repeat for me. Keep up the good work! It shows you care about your business and patrons! read more

Had a great dinner here last night. Drinks and food were amazing. I had the lamb chop special as an appetizer and it was the best part of the whole meal. Great flavors and cooked perfectly! Got the honey mule and sorrel martini. Both tasted great but the martini tasted more like plain sorrel juice while the mule was strong but tasty. For entrees we got the brown stew snapper with collard greens and oxtails with macaroni and rice & peas. Both were good. The greens could have used more seasoning. Service was a bit slow but otherwise ok. I would definitely be back here for the lamb and drinks. read more

Best, and I mean THE BEST Caribbean food there is to offer in the 757. Hands down the best flavors and portions for its price point. Food is good, live music awesome. They moved to a larger location. I have seen this business grow over the years. The food is fantastic. The service is fantastic. The atmosphere is fantastic. In the short three weeks I've known about this restaurant, I have been at least twice a week, sometimes even back to back days. I have tried several items on the menu and NOTHING is bad. I can't compare it to other Jamaican restaurants because I literally didn't eat Jamaican food before discovering this place. I love this restaurant. Update 4/25/18 - Months later this place has YET to disappoint. Every time I come in the food is fast and great. Service is always friendly. The owners come around to check on you and chitchat. I'm just in love with this place. The jerk chicken is always good and always hot. The brisket is delicious (especially paired with their barbecue sauce) the Mac and cheese is perfect, so are the greens and the rice with peas (I don't eat it but my dad swears by it). The jerk shrimp tacos and hot wings will burn your throat in the best way. Better get some sweet tea to wash it down! Love the bread! Ugh! This place can do not wrong! read more

The jerk chicken is perfectly seasoned and the meat is very tender. The white meat is not the least bit dry. Service was very quick and waitstaff was friendly.
