I touched the back of scalp and color from the scalp came on my finger so basically the shampoo after color wasn't done properly and there was still a lot of color left. I was so displeased. I went back. It was raining and really cold that day I still went back, the salon was closed. I wrote them an email next day and they just responded with a sorry on the email and saying they will talk to the girl who shampooed but I think even if they were a teaching salon the main stylist should have checked if the service was done properly, it felt like negligence and rushed service. I was not feeling well that day, and after that I had to wash my hair again at 9 PM on a very cold day, only because they didn't do it properly, i had an early morning flight next day and this totally ruined my mood. I expected them to offer me some refund atleast as service was so dismal.. when I had left 40% tip as well. Nothing like that not even a call from them for apologizing properly when i was an old customer.. This experience left such a bad taste in mouth, the color also stained my nails before my hawaii trip. I'm not going back

I live closer to the city and still happily make the trip because she's the only person I trust with my hair. She just gets it. My color and cuts always look natural, healthy, and effortless, and I get compliments on my hair all the time. She's incredibly talented but also honest and thoughtful about what will actually work best for your hair. At no point did they warn me that if I waited too long, the price would increase to full price. How was I supposed to know that? If they had told me, I could have made an informed decision. Instead, they just told me what I wanted to hear at the time to keep me from complaining. Now, three months later, I reached out to finally get my highlights done, and they refuse to honor the price they originally promised. Not only did I waste $300 on something I didn't ask for, but they also completely misled me about fixing it. This place is unprofessional and dishonest. I would never recommend them to anyone. Stay away unless you want to be overcharged and lied to.

When I arrived for my appointment, I was greeted very warmly and Jaylynn, my hairstylist, introduced herself to me and got me seated at her station. Jaylynn was warm and friendly and I immediately felt comfortable speaking with her. I began telling her about my hair journey - about my styling routine, the products I use and anything I thought would help her to give me the best treatment today. I asked lots of questions and she was more than happy to answer them and gave me tips and tricks along the appointment of how to properly care for my hair type. As I was waiting for my hair mask, another customer began to rave about the place. Between this interaction and in speaking to Jaylynn, I learned that the salon was new to Rutherford, but previously was located in Clifton, NJ. The customer speaking to me told me about how much she loves all of the stylists and has never been disappointed. Between this interaction and my own experience, I am super happy with my decision to get my hair cut here. I already booked my next trim & a blow out. I also found that this Curly Cut was more affordable from me than another salon that was charging me way more and was more out of the way for me. She does such an awesome job that I was able to go SEVEN MONTHS in between highlight appointments because they look so natural. I couldn't believe it until I confirmed it with the front desk. Stephanie also gave me a great new cut that not only took several years off of my face but is giving me confidence for going back out into the job market. Thanks! Everyone else at Salon Gossip is both kind and talented. Artwork on the walls is created by Frankie and owner/stylist extraordinaire Donna (what can't she do... she is doing stand-up too!), and is fabulous. It is nice to come to a place with positive energy, and it is clear that everyone is happy to be there. My hair looks great and lasts for such a long time. I love coming in here. This month's charitable cause, by the way, is lupus. Prices here are reasonable and they have good products available. Lastly, the conversation is lively, thoughtful, and fun.
