I needed a pick me up and coloring my hair seemed a perfect way to make me happy ... from dark and dull to Carmel and shining. I know Rowena and will follow her at any salon she works at and even though this place is 30 minutes away from me it's worth the drive! #supportlocalbusiness read more

Extremely Overpriced for what is offered. Prices not discussed with clients and staff seems to be unfriendly

I've been going to Brianna for about six years now and even followed her when she moved to The Room in Verona -- which should say everything. I live closer to the city and still happily make the trip because she's the only person I trust with my hair. She just gets it. My color and cuts always look natural, healthy, and effortless, and I get compliments on my hair all the time. She's incredibly talented but also honest and thoughtful about what will actually work best for your hair. On top of that she's just a great person and always makes the whole experience easy and comfortable. My therapist as well! I wouldn't go anywhere else. read more

I had the worst experience at The Room. I paid $300 for highlights, but they didn't do what I asked for. They blamed my hair's condition and told me to come back in 20 days, saying they would do a full highlight for just $90. When I told them I wanted to wait a little longer to let my hair recover, they agreed that it was a great idea. At no point did they warn me that if I waited too long, the price would increase to full price. How was I supposed to know that? If they had told me, I could have made an informed decision. Instead, they just told me what I wanted to hear at the time to keep me from complaining. Now, three months later, I reached out to finally get my highlights done, and they refuse to honor the price they originally promised. Not only did I waste $300 on something I didn't ask for, but they also completely misled me about fixing it. This place is unprofessional and dishonest. I would never recommend them to anyone. Stay away unless you want to be overcharged and lied to. read more

What an ABSOLUTE RIP OFF. What a shame. Oh how these stylists to prey on naive customers. They added LITERALLY 3 to 4 blue highlights in THE FRONT of the face - SHOULDER length hair on a Child and charged 200 DOLLARS!!!! Hard earned money ripped off because they saw a naive looking man book an appointment for his daughter and they pounced at the opportunity to SCAM!! You think these customers have money growing on trees?? How ruthless and conniving. The stylists argument was that she was a level 2 stylist (Cassandra). Well even if you are a level 4 NOONE charges 200 $ for 3 strands of blue highlights in the area. read more

I walked in there looking to get at most 1 inch off and the hair dresser ended up chopping off 5 inches and made it super choppy and now I am super insecure and have been crying for the past Few days and I can't look in a mirror without breaking down into tears, this place made me lose all self confidence I've ever had and now I feel completely hideous and mortified by myself and Ive never got a worse haircut before. read more

Great spot. Found this place on Instagram as I was searching for a place to get a nice layered cutt aka Butterfly cut and this popped up in the sponsored adds and their page looks amazing ! I seen they were only 25 min from me and Samantha's work stuck out at me ! I messaged her on Instagram and she instantly replied , had open availability that day so I went in and was so happy with my results ! They have a beautiful salon , very professional and fancy, street parking as well but I do have to admit their prices are very expensive as they don't have a price list and they do charge for a client consultation! read more

Just YES!! The salon is so beautiful, clean and comfortable. The staff is outwardly welcoming and so friendly and supportive to one another. Amanda took care of my highlight service today and it is AMAZING. She had such great attention to detail and awesome communication during the entire process. Would recommend both the salon and Amanda for any coloring needs! So thankful to have found a salon and a stylist I can trust read more

I went to the salon based on the positive reviews that are misleading along with the staff who work there! I asked for a stylist who works with short hair and would be able to do a straight blunt haircut. They set me up with Ali claiming to specialize in "precision cutting". Left the salon with the most uneven choppy hair cut. When I raised concern about my hair while she was styling it her response was "no its even its just rough dried". Sharing pictures to show how uneven my hair is where I cant even try to hide it. I called the salon who didn't seem to be apologetic for ruining my hair. I wasn't offered any reparations other than letting the same stylist "fix" my hair. Who in their right mind would let the same person cut their hair again. They also didn't ask to see pictures which is alarming (has probably happened several times). DO NOT GO HERE read more

I went to get my 2 year blonde balayage root done and left with white hair... went back to get it fixed and only the person who did it was allowed to correct it. Adam. I gave him another chance to correct the white blonde and left with ORANGE hair. I paid about $400 for this disaster. Months later I scheduled steph to fix and was running 10 mins late bc o traffic mind you I was almost there so I called for a heads up and she said that was too late for her and she would have to cancel my appointment and charge me $70 for a "no show" So I was like honestly I've wasted SO MUCH MONEY unnecessarily this place is TERRIBLE never going back! I am so incredibly happy I found this place... and Sam especially. I went here for a color correction after a stylist at another salon left my hair with chunky, brassy color. She did a detailed consultation with me to thoroughly understand exactly what I was looking for. The minute I sat in her chair, I could tell she was a true professional and expert at her craft. I instantly felt at ease - she had a ton of knowledgeable and knew exactly what to do to achieve the look I wanted. I am beyond thrilled with the end result! I have never been happier with my look. Not only did Sam achieve the perfect color, she also texturized and fixed my original cut too. She just "got it." Her expertise and attention to detail was worth every cent. I will absolutely be returning to this salon! The staff are professional, down to earth, and most importantly -- talented. read more

The Room - Verona - Hair Salons Near Me - Verona, New Jersey

I've finally found my forever salon. The Montclair/Verona area in general is home to many exceptional hair salons - I've tried many of them. The Room is superior in every aspect to Bangz and Gumdrop. Customer service was beyond any experience I've previously had. In plenty of salons there is a very real clique mentality. The hair dressers tend to group together and joke around. I'm all for having fun at work, but sometimes it's just too much. And they're always gossiping! The Room shatters this stereotype. I've never encountered such a professional group of women. Every person I interacted with was friendly, sincere and prompt. The pricing in on par with what you'd expect in the area. I attended a consultation and my artist, Sam, broke down the anticipated cost without me even asking. As far as skill, these ladies have it! I meticulously perused their instagram before making an appointment and its evident how talented all the girls are. Sam gave me her undivided attention (I don't like when some hair dressers schedule clients at the same time) for 5, yes, FIVE hours! She is truly an artist and was able to transform my hair from red to a brown balyage in one sitting. I can't say enough how happy I am with the entire experience and my results. You can tell how much The Room values you as a customer and they go to great lengths (haha) to make sure everything is perfect. read more

I visited The Room for the first time last week and had an amazing experience! The salon is lovely and comfortable and everyone in there is nice and helpful. I came first for a consultation with Elyse, and knew immediately I had made the right choice and she'd be the perfect stylist for me moving forward. We discussed my thoughts for my hair color and made a plan. Later that week I came back for the appointment. Elyse went with partial (but significant) foil highlights with a shadow root and glaze to get the right tone. It seriously came out the best my color has ever looked. I'm so impressed and happy and have found my favorite salon! I had been going somewhere good, but I always felt like everyone there was "too cool" and I never felt important. At The Room I felt like I had known the stylists for years and that I wasn't just another appointment. I can't wait to go back! read more

The Room - Verona - My gorgeous hair color - Hair Salons Near Me - Verona, New Jersey

I paid over $340(level 10 platinum blonde of 7yrs)to get my hair dolled up for my birthday back in December after a hand surgery. The first day results I was in love! But after one week the toner had washed out and I had this yellow ring on the roots Adam had processed. I've gone back month after month to have Adam( the hairdresser) & Sam( the manager) correct the issue, because prior to coming to The Room I had NO discoloration or yellow spots. I've shown both Sam & Adam picture proof how how my hair way prior to getting it done at The Room. Plus it's the simple principle of " I spent all this money and haven't gotten the results I paid for" anywhere else I go will charge me to correct the issue. MID PANDEMIC I refuse to go to another stylist who has NO idea what Adam has done to my hair& I'll have to pay extra. When COVID first started and everything shut down &THEN reopened my roots were RIDICULOUS(+5inches)& still I developed NO yellow ring on my hair( this is with my original hairdresser NOT Adam.)After each time of sitting with Adam I have different yellow stains on my platinum blonde hair. & EACH time I've texted Sam( the manager) with pictures of whats happening & keeping her up to date with my disappointment &dissatisfaction. After a short phone call in the second week of April 2021 where I asked Sam if there are ANY other hairdressers that could correct the issue because Adams work wasn't cutting it& he's further damaging my hair and I'm SOO upset already at this point, it's been months and IVE BEEN PATIENT..She said they don't do bleach outs at that salon because no one is comfortable with bleach& Adam is the ONLY one who works with bleach or bleach outs in The Room. She referred me to their "sister salon" "The Artist" where Sam said she'd call them and explain to them what's happening. When I called The Artist they said she hadn't called up so they had no idea or even a mention of me... of course after explaining to them what's happening they said I'd be charged extra to correct what Adam has done unfortunately. On 4/28/21 I called Sam to let her know what transpired on the phone call with The Artist & that it's not right nor fair in any which way that this issue is STILL ongoing. I cannot style my hair the way I want to to hide away these stains. ANYONE who loves their hair can understand WHY this is soooo upsetting ESPECIALLY AS A PLATINUM BLONDE WHOS NEVER HAD THIS ISSUE. Sam said she would have her boss reach out to me. I reached out to Sam again to let her know NO ONE & definitely NOT THE BOSS has reached out/ followed up & its been two weeks now... the pictures below start from December after Adams initial bleach out and continue on after each time I've gone back and the toner has washed out & I'm left with once again the yellow. read more

My hair journey with Adam began almost 4 years ago. We met in beauty school and immediately hit it off. I told him from the beginning, "once you get a chair, I'm your client for life." Fast forward to now...Adam has made all of my hair dreams come true. Being a natural level 4 (medium brown), it's important to keep the integrity of my hair when lightening it, as it would be for anybody else. Adam ALWAYS keeps this in mind with not just me, but his whole clientele-He'd never want to ruin anyone's hair. This is an easy mistake to make when you want your client pure white/platinum, which results in damaged, porous hair & ends (as seen in a previous "negative" review, those were not caused by Adam). No matter how light you get it, dark hair will always lift to at LEAST a pale yellow, and then it's our job to tone it out, which unfortunately does wash out. With proper maintenance (ex. Purple shampoo, treatments, cool-lukewarm water, regular lightening appointments & trims), you can keep your results from the salon. Adam's work speaks for itself-Everything he touches turns to gold. All photos are different projects we've done on my hair, and it's always a home run. I love Adam and all he's done for me as both a client and a friend. Keep up the great work, your true clientele know who you are read more

Something isn't right here...never have I paid the same price for the same exact services (weird) but this last time took the cake. Had a keratin treatment back in December that was reasonably priced...went for another one and it was MORE THAN TRIPLE the cost...how?? When questioned it was a bunch of "oh yea, inflation" (last time I checked, inflation on hair products wasn't Over 300% the original cost) and "uhhh this is a different treatment". Ok, but isn't that something you should tell your client BEFORE the treatment??? Not impressed. read more

Elyse is the best. The salon is adorable and clean. Good energy.

Tessa is an actual wizard with hair! I came in with a grown out blonde balayage and she totally saved my hair, turning it into a beautiful chocolate brown with dimension. Where do I start !.. from the moment I walked into the salon I just felt like I was suppose to be there. Everyone greeting me asking if I need coffee or water My stylist was finishing up with her client as I got there a little early. We talked as laughed as she was doing my hair then Elvira blow me out with some beautiful curls . Totally gorgeous! Best color I've had in years . Darleen got the color i wanted . She is beyond talented and really cares about her clients and wants to make sure we are all happy . I'm so so glad I finally got to go there to get my hair done. I have been looking for a good salon near my place and saw this with rave reviews. I called and they accommodated me for the same day. Sam, my stylist, listened patiently to what I wanted my hair to be. Struggling to find a way to illustrate what I would like my hair to look like, she assured me that she will cut and consult as we go along to make sure she's aligned. She cuts with precision and would explain what she is doing in every step. I never thought I will end up with a hair style that exceeds my expectations. I started coming to Darlene as a recommendation from my boyfriends barber next door (Danny) and I've been obsessed ever since. It's been about a year and a half since and I can't immagine letting anyone else touch my hair. In all honesty Darlene just gets me. Wether I want to try something new or keep things the same it's honestly like she can read my mind and knows exactly what I want. Literally walking out the door writing this review! :) I did insane research trying to find a great salon in the area since I moved a few streets away. I found this salon- and to my surprise had amazing reviews on all social platforms! To further confirm these claims- I took to Instagram to see their work, specifically balayage although I was going for a single process. If someone kills it with balayage, just run to them and don't look back! I found Stephanie's Instagram and went through her hair photos and was absolutely in love! I immediately booked an appointment, was so surprised they were able to take me so quickly. Fast forward to my appointment- Steph listened to everything I was looking for- as close to my natural color as possible, cover the greys and remove this reddish undertone in my brown hair. We had great conversation, saw how attentive the staff was and had such an incredible experience. I will absolutely be back soon! I highly recommend this salon for anyone and everyone looking for a salon with not only experts but true artists. If you don't believe me go look for yourself! Thanks again for killing it with my hair Steph!! read more
