If there is one thing I will not tolerate, it is a liar. And liars who cheat ppl out of their money, especially in this economy? No, ma'am! I have to preface by saying this is all done by the same stylist for the same service, a twisty blow-out. 1. First appointment, no charge based on a Facebook post looking for volunteers. 2. Second appointment was half off since I booked during my first session, $11. 3. Third appointment, the stylist is now level 1, so my visit was $31. 4. Fourth appointment, I ask her if she can pin my curls as she does them and then release them at the end. She says yes, cool. I go to pay, $41....? The receptionist says it's because I got my hair pinned. Okay, but no one told me there was an upcharge. I'm irritated but pay and decide I'm not coming back ever due to this. 5. Now, on Friday, 2.23, I decide that morning I needed a blowout because it's my birthday, and the only place that could get me in was here,so I booked it. I tell my new friend my plans and lo and behold, not only does she also go to this salon but gets blowouts regularly by the same girl. I tell her about the $10 upcharge for the pins, and she's shocked! She tells me she never gets charged and leaves with the pins! Ok, so now I'm going with this info in my back pocket. I go in and ask for the same blowout. The girl herself this time offers to pin the hair in the crown area for added volume with NO mention of an upcharge. I tell her, you know what, can you pin the whole thing actually. And she says, oh, that's a $10 upcharge. And I immediately tell her why, you don't charge my friend and literally pull out the text convo to show her. She stutters and says, oh she didn't pay last time? No, she's NEVER paid the extra charge I tell her. Then she suddenly decides that in a whole 'professional' salon, she doesn't have enough pins to pin my whole head. COME ON! What a joke. So I'm thinking it's my birthday (I told her this too) I'm not stressing, I don't have time, fine just pin the crown. She finishes my hair and we go up to pay. She says $41!! I'm sorry, what? I said I'm not paying the $10 upcharge for the pins. Now, she says, oh no it's not the pins, it's your long, thick hair. I'm like dumbfounded. My hair has been this length always and she has never said anything before. I'm in shock at this point, she really swindled me into paying that extra $10 like she initially wanted to. Again it's my birthday, I have a dinner to get to. My fault, but I decided to pay with cash, so now I have no record and no way to dispute with my bank. And what's even more mind-blowing, my same friend went again today, AND NO EXTRA CHARGES! Are you kidding me? What scam is this place running? Are they pocketing the upcharge money? Got a hair cut here sometime ago. I asked for long layers with a short hair cut with some bangs I think. The lady cutting my hair seemed nervous kept walking away from me and leaving me alone. No explanation she just left - so the hair cut took a good bit amount of time. I need glasses to see so I could not see what she was doing until the very end, and when I do see my hair she gave me a wolf cut basically. She gave me so many layers, and they weren't even either! I did not ask for this. I thought it looked fine until I got home and realized I hated my hair, cried and went to another salon to fix it, and they couldn't fix it because a lot of the damage had been done already so I'm waiting to grow it out. I left a negative review to their personal website a couple days after the cut and no one reached out to me or anything. I even waited to see if they would. They didn't! They done care. I got a trim with Cheyenne and a perm with Brenda last weekend and I'm very happy with the results. I waited to review until after I washed my hair post perm so that I could show it fresh and then washed for the first time. Cheyenne was quick and cut my hair while it was still straight very beautifully - I'm happy that she maintained the bulk of my length the way I wanted but still got some nice layers in! Brenda was very knowledgeable and I've had a perm done twice before (this is my 3rd) with a different salon but Brenda delivered quality I've never experienced!!! The salon itself is also really nice - the seats at the hair washing sinks even have massagers and recline to put your feet up! Overall a great experience and since I just moved to the area I'm going to make this my regular salon. read more

It's always nerve-racking when you have curly hair and have to go to someone new for a haircut. Nicole truly is a curly-expert and we had a really great appointment. She listened to me and reviewed my current curly practice so that we aligned on the cut before the scissors touched my hair. She gave a lot of helpful tips and tricks that I'll definitely be trying. I had a terrible experience here. The stylist was rude and kept pulling my hair. I told her several times to be gentler but she kept using the same force. I told her I wanted a blonde balayge and even showed her a picture of me with the style I wanted because I have had it done before. I instead have a red tinge and no blonde. I also asked that she dye close to the root and she was about 3 inches off... Even my family told me my hair looked terrible. Very upsetting experience that I paid $252 for. This price was also different from what I was quoted before walking in. I was hoping to find a reliable stylist but instead I look like a red panda. They refuse to give any refund. I can only say good things about Hilights Salon! I first contacted the salon to inquire about having my hair lightened, which is something I've always wanted but was scared to do, and have since enjoyed every appointment at the salon. The salon is beautiful and their online appointment booking process is so easy! I had the pleasure of being taken care of by Analee and with the help of Joey (love him!) they gave me the hair that I always wanted (from natural black to bronde!) Even before seeing me, Analee was super informative and thorough with the process, what my expectations should be and aftercare. I had so many questions and she was so patient with me! I recently gave birth to my 3rd baby girl and with my chaotic schedule, I haven't been able to make it in for a touch up. I've been going to Hilights for a few years now and have no regrets! I go to Ana Lee and she does amazing every time! It's so easy to book and I can always find a convenient time for appointments. Everyone at the salon is super friendly and welcoming. They follow covid regulations well and you feel safe while getting your hair done. Parking is also never an issue. As for my hair every time I have gone I have shown photos of what I wanted and every time I walk out super happy. Ana takes her time and listens to what you want. She is very patient to work to get the results the customer is looking for. I have really dark hair and usually want a lighter color so it usually takes basically half the day! I've gone to hair stylist before that literally could not figure out how to get my hair light. This is the first person to be able to actually give me what I'm looking for. It is definitely worth paying the price and a few hours to get what you're looking for. I usually pay about 300-400 for color, cut and styling. Which is well worth it. Long overdue review: I asked for light brown (caramel) highlights, that I absolutely did not want blonde hair. After 4 hours she turned me around to blonde hair. I explained it was much lighter than I wanted, her response was, "I know, wait 2 weeks, it should darken, if not come back" Which seemed odd to me since in all my years of having my hair colored it never darkened over time, just lightened. BTW $360 hair cut for damaged hair and not at all the color I asked for. (Pictures below) So after a week I called to explain what happened. In that week my hair got lighter. The bleach they put on (unbeknownst to me) did not take to the dye they put on top. My hair was damaged from the bleach that was kept on too long and it was/is completely fried. My hair feels like straw/hey and is matted w/ knots when I brush it after the shower. (wasn't like that prior, prior to the appointment my hair was virgin undyed hair). The owner told me to come in to get it fixed. The 2nd time I went they said they were putting a conditioner treatment on my hair, and they were going to re-dye my hair. At the end of the appointment they were charging me $160. I explained the only reason I am here is because the salon messed my hair up the first time, so the manager came over (blonde very nice women) apologizing and explaining the owner wasn't there and she was not aware but will take care of it for me. 2 days later I go and wash my hair, (still feels like straw/hey and is matted in knots) and now one side of my hair is brown and the other is blonde. Needless to say I am not going back to have them "fix it" for the 3rd time, and will go somewhere else. read more

After a couple years prices started to sjy rocket, place got WAY bigger i found someone else. 2017 my daughter gets creative with her hair including blonde and grays and finally she agrees lets get this fixed professionally. We go to Highlights because its a Sunday and she agreed and i need to pounce before she changes her mind, theyre open and off we go. To be 1000% clear the stylist is beyond amazing and we see her for 2 more times and i can't say enough. One day i walk in and she isnt there. They give me a fairly new stylist who is unable to replicate the color. Yep she was a bit cheaper and my daughter won't say anything cause she is supernice but the color was totally off. 6 weeks later and i try to get an appt with original stylist with difficulty. They tell me she is now "advanced" and the prices are honestly pretty damn steep for a single process and cut etc. Im ok this is my teenager we switch back to original stylist. Everything is fine until a few months ago. Get a call that she has moved. We would like to reschedule etc. Where did she go? Um yeah i can um get that for you. She calls me back with the info. Wrong info. Thank god for mom super sleuth. Found her and been going since. Fast forward 3 months and now am getting texts to come back and offering discounts? I've gotten my hair done on several occasions with Ana Lee and she did a fantastic job. Each session was 3-5 hours and she worked hard every minute of it. Major props because standing and highlighting hair for that long while listening to me talk about my life is not easy! If I could give this salon as a whole a negative rating I would. I am new to the area and found the salon on yelp based off of the numerous positive reviews, however, unfortunately this is not the experience I had. From the start, the price quoted on the phone and the price during my "consult" were drastically different, but mistakingly, I decided to let that go. The stylist asked multiple times if I had box dye on my hair, which in hindsight, would have been a better option for me. I asked for a light brown/blonde balayage and root gray cover up. After FIVE HOURS of being in the salon, I looked like a gremlin. My hair was bright orange, broken, and damaged. While blow drying my hair, the stylist herself said I could come in for a "re-do" before I could gather my thoughts to complain. While this may seem nice, a free redo??? What about the 5 hrs of my time? What about the week I had to spray Lo'real cover up all over my head to go to work. Nobody at the salon seem to care about that. In fact, the stylist, Nicole, had the audacity to tell me, "her time is valuable too." In which I responded, well then you should have done your job correctly the first time. Worse than the stylist is the manager and owner. They expect full payment for services received, however, I did not receive remotely close to what was "consulted". They offered me a measly 30 dollars off after a long fight and damaging my hair beyond repair. Tiffany did the best she could to revive my hair with what was presented after I refused to go to the same stylist for the redo. I HIGHLY recommend her. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND to NEVER come to this salon if you care about your sanity or hair. read more

I've found my forever hairstylist (Gennifer)!! I've been to Hilights Salon twice now, both appointments with Gennifer. The wash is always so relaxing and they use quality products! (Currently i use Olaplex) Prior to finding Gen, I dredded blowouts! I always seemed to get burned when other stylist did it and my curls dropped by time I get home from the salon. After writing a review, the same day I was contacted by the owner of the salon and the girl who made my hair, she apologized and offered to return to the salon to apply a glaze and do a treatment, to make my hair in the way that I wished. I really appreciated that! So today, I went to the salon (a little embarrassed by that bad review when I was mad) and explained exactly what I wanted. The first time I went I already saw that she worked very well and she was a professional, perhaps we did not understand each other. I wouldn't have come back if I see that she doesn't know how to do it. AnaLee took care of me super well with a good attitude all the time, answering my questions, and explaining me every step. She made my hair darker at the roots, looking more natural, and the treatment she applied recovered SO MUCH my hair. Now I really like what I see when I look at the mirror. When I was done, I went to pay, but they didn't charge me, even she didn't want to accept a little tip that I wanted to give her. I will definitely be back! Def don't recommend this place. First of all terrible customer service. I had to reschedule an appointment due to being sick that day and they wouldn't cooperate and kept saying there would be a 25% fee if I rescheduled. I thought that was ridiculous and just cancelled my appointment altogether. If you're looking to go here just be aware that they do not allow rescheduling and will charge you 25%. They would rather lose you as a customer than try to work with you. Then when did I go here to get my hair done my hair stylist would NEVER blow dry my hair after. She always said she didn't have time to dry my hair so I always had to walk out of the salon with wet/very damp hair even tho I showed up to my appointments on time?! Walking out of a salon you should have perfectly done hair, I had to go home and dry and style my hair myself even tho I paid and tipped for a service. Literally made no sense why she couldn't just dry my hair. Overall not a great experience and won't be going back. Edit: The fee was never waived which is why I cancelled my appointment entirely. You can go back and read the text messages but clearly you guys were saying there was no waive whatsoever which was so difficult to deal with. Also every salon I've been to always blow dries your hair completely after so having not finished hair was very frustrating especially after paying to get my hair done. read more

Well let's just say I had a amazing experience at Hilights today! I came in for a men's shape up & ended up also getting a eyebrow wax from Alexa. I was greeted with a warm welcome from her & staff. Upon being seated I was asked if I need anything, refreshment etc which I thought was nice. All in all I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a great salon experience.
