OK, this may sound repetitive but here goes. I had another stellar experience yesterday at Salon Gossip. I had highlights and a cut with Stephanie. She does such an awesome job that I was able to go SEVEN MONTHS in between highlight appointments because they look so natural. I couldn't believe it until I confirmed it with the front desk. Stephanie also gave me a great new cut that not only took several years off of my face but is giving me confidence for going back out into the job market. Thanks! Everyone else at Salon Gossip is both kind and talented. Artwork on the walls is created by Frankie and owner/stylist extraordinaire Donna (what can't she do... she is doing stand-up too!), and is fabulous. It is nice to come to a place with positive energy, and it is clear that everyone is happy to be there. My hair looks great and lasts for such a long time. I love coming in here. This month's charitable cause, by the way, is lupus. Prices here are reasonable and they have good products available. Lastly, the conversation is lively, thoughtful, and fun. I'm thankful to the previous reviewers for Salon Gossip, you ladies are spot-on, it is wonderful! The salon is very clean and easy to get to. The staff is professional and very warm and friendly. Wow... where do I start?! I have a thick, curly head of hair and I like to dye it constantly. When I walked into Salon Gossip two years ago, the decor was (and still is) fun and flirty, super clean, and the staff warm and welcoming. Donna is the owner, and though I have never had my hair done by her, I have been lucky to watch her do her magic on other women. I even went to the coffee shop across the street, and the girl working there had never been to Salon Gossip, but couldn't wait for her appointment with Donna because of all the great work she has seen walk in and out of the store. Donna is bubbly and sweet, and a strong leader. Her staff is happy, and it makes for a peaceful and fun work environment. Frankie, the once receptionist and now assistant, is so nice, silly and fun to talk to. The man can do hair! When Steph has been unavailable, Frankie is kind enough to take time out of his day to blow my mane out. Giving my hair body, while keeping it smooth and shiny. I go to Stephanie to get my hair cut, colored and styled. With thick, unruly, hair like mine, I am able to say, "Do whatever you want, Steph," and she leaves my hair smooth, sleek and it lasts for days! Steph has taken my hair color from a rich, vibrant red, to a deep, romantic purple. She layers my hair to perfection, and when I asked for a shaved, undercut, she made the cut quickly and I felt confident with the decision. If she doesn't think something will work, she tells you. Steph is one of those hair dressers that will tell you how it is. You can see she loves what she does, and it shows... not only in other reviews on this site, but when her clients get out of their chairs, they are smiling from ear to ear. I LOVE this Salon. MAKE AN APPOINTMENT! Yes, you may get lucky with a walk in, but make the commitment, and take any stylist the receptionist offers you. They will not steer you in the wrong direction. I can go on and on about Donna and the whole crew at Salon Gossip. Donna does my hair perfectly and I am the pickiest person with my hair even though I'm a dude. I constantly tell her that she should be working in Manhattan and getting $400 a hair cut. She listens to what you want, makes notes for the future to refer back to, has a great memory, and will look at pictures and get your hair exactly like the picture. Personally (and I don't cut hair) I think the best thing she does is that she will cut your hair again at the end when it's fixed. It makes so much sense to do that! read more

Donna is a talented, amazing hair dresser and colorist, but you can read that in any of these reviews. I want to give her a giant shout out for being so brave to re-open and serve all of her longtime clients (like myself) who had sad hair during the pandemic months of spring and summer without her. Second round of applause for opening so safely, with a diligent sanitizng protocol, using PPE, distancing clients, and reassuring questionnaire before each appointment. Third ovation for being able to cut hair so well when she doesn't even have blow drying to help her truly see everything. She has these nifty dryers that look like UFO's that dry your head without blowing air around. I got a slight change to my style at my last appointment, and when I blew it out myself the next day it looked exactly as I'd wanted and described to her. Donna in addition to being the best hairdresser in the area, is energetic, smart, and hard-working. While giving a good review only increases demand and lowers my ability to get convenient appointment times, Donna has my admiration, so I just had to leave this testimonial. We all miss the the salon version of Cheers that was Salon Gossip pre-pandemic... but it will be back some day... cuz Donna's holding down the fort. read more

Really enjoyed my experience here. The salon looks unassuming from the outside but it's really charming inside. The staff are very friendly and skilled - they've obviously been in the business for years. This was my first visit and I went solely on Yelp reviews and I'm glad I took the leap! I normally hate getting my hair cut so my strategy has always been to let it grow until it gets unbearably long and then chop it all off. Stephanie who cut my hair was very sweet and knowledgeable, she gave me a cute short cut and styled it really nicely, all in under an hour. I definitely wouldn't mind visiting before my hair gets super long again! read more

I went through a lot of NNJ and NYC hair salons before I found Donna, and only wish I'd found her sooner. A few years ago I asked on a Montclair online bulletin board for recommendations for a stylist and/or colorist who could do stylish/funky without venturing into the realm of too weird for work. Several people recommended Salon Gossip, and I've been going there ever since. Donna truly is an artist--she is particularly extraordinary as a colorist, but also gives me the best cuts I've ever had. I can't count how many people have commented on how amazing my color is since Donna started doing it. And she listens--and even manages to clarify/translate my often-inarticulate requests ("ummm, you know, kind of blunt... but, uhh, spiky? and maybe kinda different? but not too different?") so that I always end up with something that I love. The salon has a great team--Stephanie is especially awesome as well--and you really feel like you're walking into your friends' living room when you arrive. Don't let the fun, lighthearted atmosphere let you think these people aren't serious about your hair. They listen and really aim to please. I'm writing after my third appointment and the consistency is unbeatable. It's a place for all ages. This last visit the salon was packed with customers of every age group imaginable. The service is prompt and friendly. Every haircut I saw leaving there was nothing short of fantastic, men, women, and kids alike. A very high energy place. Donna, the owner, knows her products. I was spending much more in a Millburn salon and getting only OK results. Her color lasts longer than any I've ever had and doesn't oxidize. Furthermore, Donna refines her cuts when your hair is dry. I began going to Salon Gossip after an unpleasant experience at another local salon. I stay because of the people, the service and how healthy and great my hair is. Salon Gossip is like walking into a friend's house - we catch up, laugh, listen to music and I get a good haircut. My daughter is also a client and loves walking out knowing that her hair looks awesome. Very important for a teenage girl. One of the best things about the place is the attention they pay to what you want and what your comfort level is. They also do a ton to support the local community and that means a lot to me. The facility is so clean. Thats the 1st thing i noticed, their brushes,blow dryers are Well kept...But oh my sweet jesus,. The staff stephanie and donna and the dog too are super nice yet very very professional and exactly know what theyre doing,.they give you tips to do and not to do for your hair,. Having recently moved to Bloomfield from Brooklyn, I was reluctant to find a local hair salon... but turns out it's the greatest salon I've ever experienced with the best blonde expertise ever! Salon Gossip leaves me feeling confident, current and fulfilled each time I go. At last, a haircut I love! I have been to a number of salons in the area and none of them offer the attention like the ladies of Salon Gossip. I went to a certain other salon just 2 weeks ago and was praying Salon Gossip could convert my haircut into something I liked! I had Stephanie as my stylist, and wow, she listened and we went though the cut step by step. She listened! I haven't had a stylist actually listen in ages! This is the best cut I've had in years. I've been to salons of all price ranges and Salon Gossip has beat them all. They will not push you into a process you don't want, you will go home happy. They love their work and to me it's an art form to shape the hair, and they excel. So I had needed a shaping my hair finally got to the length I wanted it.. So my old salon the girl that did my hair she was fantastic finally I found someone I liked after many salons through the years... Well she was let go so they suggested the new woman was better... I decided OK let me give it a shot... Finally mostly all my layers were one length and it was a little longer just wanted a shaping... When I came home and washed it I have no clue what she did she chopped into it and looked like a mullet... So on mt search I found Stephanie I was searching Yelp for a good salon in the Bloomfield NJ area... I went for a little consultation and then today I went and got my hair cut... She's a beautiful girl with a wonderful personality... I feel very comfortable with her and very comfortable in the shop everyone was so nice and inviting...
