Suze was also able to recommend THE BEST concrete and general contractor around to handle the deck and the build of my retaining wall.

From our first…read moreconversation, Alfredo was incredibly personable and easy to talk to, he listened closely to my vision and provided valuable options to help me achieve the best result. Over all I felt the project was a great value. Once the project began, the crew's professionalism was evident. They maintained a clean job site, tidying up thoroughly at the end of every workday, and it was clear they took genuine pride in the quality of their craftsmanship. I am already looking forward to partnering with Alfredo and his team on my next backyard project later this summer.

After reading all the positive reviews, I called Leyva Concrete and spoke with Alfredo. He came out, looked at the space and we talked through the process. I made adjustments to the original scope of work, and Alfredo was super-accommodating. His team finished the excavation work that I started, then prepped for the concrete pour. These guys know exactly what they're doing, taking care with the surface finishing and all the cleanup. True craftsmen. I'm so glad I went with the professionals. They're prompt, the communication is great and quality of work is exceptional. Alfredo and this Team at Leyva Concrete are truly amazing!

FG Pavers and Turf - Ultra-Modern installations are our specialty

I recently hired FG Pavers for a major project involving a complete storm drainage system, a new…read moreretaining wall, and paver installation. Overall, I am very satisfied with the transformation of my outdoor space. From the start, Hugo was fantastic. He helped me navigate the design phase, offering creative solutions and solid ideas that I hadn't even considered. During construction, Nick was incredibly accommodating. Even though it was clear he had a very busy schedule, he made a point to visit the site daily and was always available to answer my calls, which I really appreciated. The crew themselves were hard workers and clearly skilled in their trade. That said, with a project of this scale, I found that being a highly involved homeowner was necessary. There were a couple of instances where I had to step in to point out issues that might have otherwise gone unnoticed. To their credit, FG Pavers corrected these items immediately once they were raised. I'd recommend them for their craftsmanship and their willingness to make things right.

Project: Installing Porcelain/Saltillo-style matte patio with inlays and a paver walkway…read moreSummary: I'd hire FG Pavers and Turf again at the drop of a hat, no questions asked. Bid/Quote: They came, inspected the project site and gave a complete quote including the construction detail. Tiles in an outdoor patio is uncommon, so we had a lot of questions from the grading to rebar to water proofing to sealent to grout. FG answered all the questions and accommodated our requests to align with the tile vendor recommendations. Price competitiveness: We spoke with 4 paver companies. 1 didn't want to do Porcelain tiles+ Paver, 1 didn't meet our budget, job was too small for one. Project Management: regular site visits by the site lead. Eduardo is a gem. They helped us pick the right material, picked up the tiles, did the dry layout and kept us updated on the schedule Work site: Saul and his team were punctual, spotless at the end of workday and walked through every step of the process. They made sure we reviewed the progress and that we approved the changes. We had a couple of last minute changes. Eduardo/Saul accommodated that. Saul is awesome to work with Quality of work: Wife can't stop beaming. I am going to be cashing that check for a while

Cal Valley Landscape - Retaining wall creative by Toyai at Union City, CA

I have mixed feelings about the work that was done. We hired him to put in concrete in the backyard…read moreof our new build and was relying on his expertise as to what would be the best set up. He came by and took initial measurements and said he would provide drawings of what he would do. I never received the drawings. I don't know why he decided to move the drains out to the sides instead of leaving them in the middle. As you can see in the pictures, now there's areas where water pools where if there was a drain there wouldn't be an issue. I'm also surprised he didn't put a drain where the pipe for the water tank comes out, which is causing discoloration. These are things that I expected an expert to know about and to provide upfront. Now that the concrete is put in it's too late to have the drains installed in the middle. Btw moving the drains to the sides was an extra $1k. We also added the concrete path to the front of the house, and when he did that he cut the water pipe so now there's a dead patch. He didn't consult with us prior and that was not something that was agreed upon. Now comes the payments. He asks for payments in installments up front. Reason being that he said he needs to pay for the materials and his workers. I have always heard that you should never pay and should wait until work is done, but he seemed trustworthy and it was in installments so I didn't have too much of a problem with that. These were paid via checks. When it came time to pour the concrete, I was told it would be a certain amount and I provided payment directly to the concrete company. Later on after it was done, I was overcharged and I asked him to call them to verify and ask why the difference. He never followed up with them. Luckily this was through my credit card so I was able to submit a dispute. When we gave him the final check, there were some remaining items that he still had to take care of before the project was completed. I had to keep texting him to ask when he would be back to finish the job. It took weeks since he kept pushing his schedule out. My overall sentiment is that this was just an OK result. I do appreciate that him and his team worked during the summer through the 100 degree weather to get this done. But at the same time, I'm not too happy with the drainage system that they did.

NAB Construction

We had a great experience NAB Construction! Our pickleball court had broken concrete on one end,…read moreand was too short on the other. NAB removed all the bad concrete and replaced it with pavers, and on the other side of the court, they added 5 feet of concrete where we had lawn, as well as adding to our existing retaining wall. After the pavers were installed, I noticed something not to my preference with the paver layout. I contacted Nick, our site manager from NAB, and he was very responsive, and arranged for Nate (the company president) to come out right away and discuss the matter, which was resolved that same day to my complete satisfaction. Nick also was happy to arrange for a few other small tasks related to bricks and concrete on our property to be taken care of, and they were - at no added cost. NAB construction was not the lowest bid we got for this work, but I have learned the hard way that going with the lowest price is not always a great idea, and I am glad I went with NAB for this project. I'm very satisfied with the results of this project, and would not hesitate to recommend NAB construction to others.

We wanted a walkway installed so we went back but this time we dealt with someone by the name of Nick Vard. He was very unprofessional and used the terms "outside the scope of work" and asked us to make a "commitment" several times. I went to Brickyard on a Saturday at 8AM per the direction of Nick but when I called him about our selection he never called me back. He blamed us and said they lost money on the job because it took longer than expected. He tried to convince me to use a brick I did not like. And the biggest disappointment was the drainage that they left unfinished. We spent almost $10k but we feel like the job is incomplete. Wish we could recommend them but if they continue working with Nick Vard you should stay away.
