I recently got vision insurance through my work. I tried out Custom Eyes based on product availability and location convenience. I wish I had known about them years ago when I started seeing an optometrist. There was only a few minutes of down time. The entire staff was very personable and friendly. The doctor never made me feel rushed and was perfectly happy to answer any questions I had. After my exam, a staff member sat one on one with me to discuss exactly what I would pay for new glasses with my insurance plan. Everything was fast and clear and easy. Love this practice. read more

I have been going to Custom Eyes for a long time (5/6 years). My daughter is in optometry school in Philadelphia , and and really keeps an eye on Popsters. She makes sure I have the correct glasses and prescriptions. You know the old role reversal syndrome. LOL I have been so satisfied with all the attention and service I have received with Doctor Bourgoin. The staff always remembers my name, even when I just walk in off the street with a stupid question. I have frameless Marchon Airlock 2 frames with progressive/transition lens's at their recommendation. I have been so happy with the entire setup. I am a contractor and thought for sure I would break these glasses the first day. The only problem I ever had was the bridge over the nose metal fatigued and broke. They happily repaired them. The bridge took a little longer than expected, so they did the repair for free. Needless to say I was very happy. read more

I was not happy w/this place. Dr. Bourgoin was not thorough w/his exam (he did not give me the glaucoma test that is standard w/every eye exam). When I went back a 2nd time & requested this exam, I asked him why he didn't give it to me. He gave me 2 reasons: 1) I came to my appointment late & he didn't want to go over in time as he had another patient after me, and 2) the test is not that important. I apologized to him for being late & told him that I called ahead of time that I was going to be late. *When I called at that time, they should have requested I reschedule if I was going to run into another patient's time instead of forgoing a standard test for which I was going to be charged. **They weren't even going to give me that glaucoma test if i hadn't requested it. Also, I kept pointing out to Dr. Bourgoin that I had a stye. He kept telling me he couldn't see it & didn't know what I was talking about. Um...if you're an optometrist, then shouldn't you know what a stye looks like? Ughhhh!!!! A week later, I went in for my follow up contact lens check (my 3rd visit). I was seen by Dr. Yoo this time. She gave me a prescription for my contacts lenses & eyeglasses. I ordered my eyeglasses from them. About 2 months later I finally received my new eyeglasses. I noticed after 2 weeks my eyeglasses did not appear accurate as it gave me blurry vision. I thought I needed to simply adjust to the new prescription & new eyeglasses so I continued wearing them for about a month and a half more. By this time my vision was still blurry so I returned to see Dr. Yoo (now my 4th visit). All she said was my prescription is accurate & w/eyeglasses I would not have 100% accurate vision - only contacts gives you 100% accuracy. Um...what? I don't know what she was smoking, but I thought prescription eyeglasses were supposed to give you accurate vision. Realizing that you just can't reason with bull s#*t, I did not say any more except to thank her for her business & walked out. It's been 6 months & when I wear my eyeglasses, one eye is still blurry. Double sigh... This place lost my business. I shouldn't have to make 4 trips for a standard eye exam...especially one that gives me an inaccurate prescription! I'll be going back to my other doctor who is more thorough, takes heed to my concerns & gives me accurate prescriptions. read more

Best doctors ever! Ive been here multiple times for yearly check ups, new glasses, etc. just the usual eyeglass wearing person issues. Wait time was great. Great facilities. Easy and plenty of parking. Doctors here are very honest and dependable. I recently got lasik and I completed all my pre op and post op appointments here. Although I probably don't need optometrists anymore assuming my lasik holds up I would recommend them to everyone and I have. read more

I've been going to Dr. B for almost 4 years now and could not ask for a better optometrist. Lets just say when my optical insurance changed two years ago, I still go to him even though I have to pay out of pocket. Also, I live about 400 miles away! He makes the eye exams very comfortable for his patients and his staff are top notch. Facilities are very clean (as they should be in a doctor's office). This is my worst experience at an optometry in 30 years. A friend referred me to this place. I regret changing my eye doctor. I repeatedly complained about the incorrect prescription, blurry,vision, redness in the eye. I even suggested there may be bumps under the eyelid. The doctor ignored my complains saying its just dry eyes. He charged my insurance for the eye exam. I was not at all happy with the prescription. I visited a ophthalmologist to check on the redness. She was quick to find out the bumps under the eyelid and prescribed correct medication. It would have turned much worse if I had kept relying on Custom Eyes Optometry. I took an appointment with my old optometrist and got a prescription. I had to pay out of pocket as insurance pays for just 1 eye exam a year, But it was worth it. I wouldn't recommend Custom Eyes Optometry to anyone. Really bad experience.I regret going here everyday. It forced to take time out to write this review. read more

The doctors here are a husband and wife team. Their staff is helpful and knowledgeable in helping one pick out frames that would be flattering as well as what is desired. Dr. Yoo helped me and recommend that I get new reading glasses, but said new distance glasses were not necessary. I like how honest they are here, and they do not want you to have to buy any extra pairs of glasses that are not necessary. She helped me to know good vitamins for the eyes, and recommended eye drops without preservatives because I have really dry eyes. I am very happy with my doctors and their staff here. read more

Yes they are nice and want to help. Be aware that you only get one redo of your RX within 3 months if it isn't correct. I was never made aware of this. Every change you make to get your rx right you have to pay for. If it's not right you have a $400 doorstop. I got the exact same Candies glasses online for 50% less. Update: I had an eye emergency a few weeks ago and went to Dr Dan Carver. It was the most thorough eye exam Ive ever had. I had previously been told by Dr B that I was getting cataracts. No only do I not have cataracts (just the natural clouding of the lens that comes with age) but I don't have a hint of cataracts and I have the eyes of a 20 year old (I'm over 60). My insurance does not cover dr carver but I will pay to get a quality exam read more

Definitely recommend visiting Custom Eyes for your vision needs. The entire front office staff was incredibly friendly and Dr. Bourgoin was so nice and comfortable to be around. They also had an amazing selection of frames and were offering a stellar promotion with BOGO frames. Between my insurance and the promo; I left with two frames- a Chloe and a Tom Ford, all for under $500 (and that included all the bells and whistles you'd want with your lenses). If you need a good optometrist that takes CalOptima Medi-Cal insurance you might want to try them! Today is my first experience with Custom Eyes Optometry and WOW! Easy online forms to fill out for 3 kids--didn't have to retype all the info just go back and insert the next child's name and adjust some answers and submit! Three appointments back-to-back for eye exams and glasses for the kids. The office is very clean and welcoming with coffee, cookies, and candy at the counter. Dr. Yoo is very thorough and friendly, receptionists checking us in had big smiles, and Renee was great with CalOptima Insurance and helping the kids pick just the right glasses.
